  6. So many great comments and thoughts on this thread. Love this fun forum! I hope OBD's does not make the title game. If the end goal is to win the Natty then the Ducks need to make the CFP, first....... So, lets beat the huskies first. Depending on O line injuries the task may be a little more difficult. The Ducks have depth and depth with talent, so OBD's needs to keep the huskies D off balance. Dominate the trenches for sure and win. The Buckeyes defense just slammed the door on the huskies offense when they played.. I expect the Duck D to do the same and take the pressure off the O. Then we need rest and healing for all the players before the 19th or 20th. We do not need an added game! Let' meet IU in the playoffs.......... The committee needs another statement game by OBD's to give them a reason to have 3 BIG teams in the playoff. So tOSU and IU need to win out and battle for the title. That game is in the best interest of the BIG, the final rankings and seedings and OBD's. Handle the puppies and OBD's gets home cooked meals until they leave for the 2nd round games on New Years. Go Ducks....it's all on the line this Saturday!
  7. That B1G Title game will be pointless if it's Indiana vs Ohio State imo. Both will get byes if they make it there. Let's go to the play in model Petitti proposed. Personally I'd rather see Michigan vs Oregon, USC vs Washington in two weeks. In the SEC we could get Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt, and Georgia vs Oklahoma. That would incentivize being in the top 2 of both big boy conferences. If Ohio State loses vs Michigan, they could drop to a play in, which would guarantee Oregon a playoff spot. We could even get a rematch between Ohio State and Michigan the next week to see who gets in the playoff. Give the top four seeds a home playoff, that would further make being in the top two a reward.
  8. One of the media's push points the last few weeks has been that Oregon is soft in the Red Zone... On Saturday, 11/22/25, the DUCK D stopped USC, in the RED ZONE, twice, beginning a field goal from point blank range, that banged off the goal post, and a turnover on downs. "Are you not ENTERTAINED???" Gladiator's indeed!
  9. I cannot remember the last time a penalty for that particular infraction was called, let alone seen, in a major college football game... What athlete, at the CFP level, has any excuse for that move?

Lanning is now under contract through the 2031 season on a deal that's currently worth $10.6 million. 👍 Oregon Ducks On SIDan Lanning's Contract With Oregon Receives Major Update...Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning has made it crystal clear that he's staying in Eugene for the long run. That didn't change after Saturday night's 42-27 win over
  12. All of USC’s championships are mythical. They have never won a tournament or a championship game that counted. All of their championships in the 2000’s were voted on. All college football championships won before 1998 were educated guesses at best. Under the old system Oregon would have at least two national championships (2010 and 2024).
  13. "I think proof's in the pudding right?" I love it! Coach Lanning advocated for his team, which is what he's supposed to do. Autzen ZooDan Lanning's postgame comment draws fire on social mediaIn the media room after a hard-fought 42-27 win over USC, a reporter asked Dan Lanning a question about the College Football Playoff.
  14. They aren’t joking about special teams. I watched Benson’s punt return again and it was like USC expected him to run to his right. In fact, it looked like Oregon was setting up for a right side return. He ran to his left and blew right by everyone. USC’s penalty on Sappington’s doink was idiotic. That’s a penalty 100% of the time.
  15. In the beginning, the Champion of college football used to be the University of Chicago. Then for decades it was a school from the Ivy League. Those championships were decided by a “beauty contest” in the press, not by games on the field, as they are today. Since the college football playoffs began, USC has not been included as a participant. Whatever championship they won before the playoffs makes them as relevant today as the University of Chicago or teams from the Ivy League. All that counts is what is retained in the memory of an 18 year old player deciding what school he will attend.
  16. USC fans are in the five stages of grief. They always come up with their heritage when we beat them because we still don't have a title. They're having a difficult time accepting they are a "has been". It all changed in 2007. It was the first time we decisively defeated them. The year we should have won our FIRST NATTY. We are much closer to winning our first title than they realize.
  17. Or they start beating Alabama and Georgia regularly. Would be nice this year in the playoffs. Bama I can see. Georgia is starting to play like the Georgia people fear (though I see OBD handling the playoff field much better now that they took care of USC the way ND did). I guarantee you if OBD start winning titles, there will be calls for sanctions like what they did to USC (while making sure Scam Newton got his title). We will win a title if we make sure the refs have nothing to do with the outcome. Which means damn near perfection. This team is leaving full plates on the table. If we see one clean game out of this group, they can handle EVERY SINGLE PLAYOFF ENTRANT.
  18. I don't believe we will see ten thousand PI calls in the playoffs. Not to mention the pushing off the SC WRs got away with (plenty-it was a push off festival out there today). It is high time we see calls like Jerimiah Smith got in Eugene last year (and boy, he pushes off massively). I hope DL starts lobbying for offensive PI, because I saw some egregious fouls today on the part of USC WRs.
  19. First of all, Washington looks like a complete and well coached team tonight, although UCLA looked like a clown show. Second, too many Oregon players are banged up and need the rest and rehab. Third, Oregon does not need a rematch with Indiana - that would be brutal and more injuries could result. Fourth, with a 12 team playoff, and no longer conf champs getting 1st round byes, winning the conf champ game is good for another trophy, but bad for business down the road. That is the logical part. Now the entertainment part: the conf champ games are great and no other real college football that weekend. It is better to determine a conf champ by playing a game than to just go by records. And, a conf championship is still something of an accomplishment that doesn't happen to any team each and every year. The conf champions should always get a higher seed for playing and winning that game, unless they are in a sucky conference and play a mediocre team. I don't like the bye week in the playoffs. I'd rather go to 16 and let the conf champions host a first round home game. That would give teams an incentive to get there and win it (the conf champ game). Michigan might play OSU pretty tough for a while? Beating them would be their superbowl.
  20. USC receivers timed their leaps with their push offs perfectly allowing them to create space at the perfect time and prevent the defenders from jumping. Why do you think our guys were on the ground half the time? If refs can’t call offensive pass interference, there’s nothing our DB’s or any team’s DB’s could do to stop that.
  21. Hey Thomas, did you see the latest projection where if things remain the same, Alabama would travel to Autzen for the first round of the Playoffs? Your wish would be granted…
  22. Cutting those penalties in half probably would have resulted in 2 more scores for OBD.
  23. Without its 1st-string QB, No. 25 ASU still beat the Devil out of CU 42 -17. No. 24 Tulane left Philly with a 37-13 win over Temple, and also left nothing in the collection plate. After shucking Nebraska 37-10, 5-6 Penn State is only one Rutgers game away from bowl eligibility!
  24. I like the part where he said "it's not our fault teams become unranked after we beat them...ok maybe it is our fault, but..." All the press burst out laughing.
  25. Dan made sure to credit the SEC for Saturday's incredible wins. 😁😁😁 ESPN.comLanning states Ducks' CFP case, jabs at SEC skedDan Lanning allowed himself to do some CFP politicking after Oregon registered its 10th win of the season -- a 42-27 victory over USC.

  27. No. 20 Tennessee Volunteers score a rare win at Florida, 31 - 11. See you later, alligators. This win sets up an interesting game vs. 2-loss Vandy in Knoxville next Saturday. And a not-so-interesting game when FS Who? visits Gainesville next Saturday.
