Watching the Fuskies Game and Oh Boy…
Do not sell this UW team short! UW was killing CO State stat-wise the entire game, but it only showed up on the scoreboard in the 2nd half. 513 total yards does not stink. 223 rush yards with Jonah Coleman putting up 177 of those yards is just fine. QB Demond Williams, who showed incredible guts against OBD last season, was 18 of 24 for 232 yards and a TD. I think the Over 7.5 wins is a solid bet, a bet my LV friends and I made in the preseason. UW will be far from an easy out. The yo-yo-like B1G schedule won't help the cause, but Ohio State, Illinois, and OBD had best be prepared for a 60-minute game in Seattle, against a well-coached team. On the road against Wazzu, Maryland, Michigan, Wisconsin, and UCLA are all winnable games. And Rutgers and Purdue in Seattle should be wins. This is a sleeper B1G champ and PO team that could go 10-2.

SEC Coverage: Thoughts on ESPN?
I am right there with you. I will not turn on ESPN unless it is to watch a Duck game. I switched to the Fox kickoff show instead of Gameday a few years ago when they brought on that loudmouth, Pat McAfee. I used to watch Sportscenter everyday. I have not watched in close to 10 years. I am done with their nonsense.

Football Dynasties: No More Moby Dick...
I think Oregon has a great chance to not win one title, but multiple titles. For more than five decades, I've been hoping for our Ducks to just win one title in Football or Basketball (heck, even baseball would kinda work for me). Just one title before I die (and multiple would work too). Frankly, I just don't think that's too much to ask. 😂🤔😉

Duck Podcasts (12)
Oregon Football kicked off the 2025 season with a dominant 59-13 win over the Montana State Bobcats this weekend. Quarterback Dante Moore shined in his Duck debut, completing 18-of-23 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns. He showed great poise, took what the defense gave him and distributed the ball effectively. Everybody pitched in from the Oregon backfield, but no one scored more than true freshman running back Jordon Davison, who found the end zone three times in his first taste of college action. The Oregon defense held strong against one of the top rushing attacks in college football last year, limiting the Bobcats to just 46 rushing yards and 244 total yards of offense. Matayo Uiagalelei may have had the best individual performance, bringing down quarterback Justin Lamson twice as he defends his crown as the Big Ten sack leader. A’Mauri Washington was a force on the interior of Tony Tuioti‘s defensive line and should be a key leader for Tosh Lupoi‘s defense in 2025. ScoopDuck’s Max Torres and Justin Hopkins sit down to give their thoughts on Oregon’s week 1 win and what we learned about this year’s version of the Ducks. Next up for Oregon is another home game agains the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 12:30 PM PT. The Cowboys are coming off of a 27-7 win over UT Martin to open the 2025 season. Anyone Else Watching the Miami Game?
"Icing the punter" -- That's just awesomely hilarious. Reminds me of an old Steve Martin stand up line where he said if he was the football coach, he would occasionally mix it up and punt on first down... just to keep the other team on their toes.

2025 Football Poll Rankings
While we are still waiting for the national polls to be released on Tuesday, some early rankings suggest that the Ducks may be worthy of a jump in the rankings. Fox Sports' analyst Joel Klatt updated his top 10 after a wild Week 1, and he moved Oregon up a spot to No. 4 in the nation. Oregon Ducks move up in Joel Klatt's rankings after Week 1 blowout

Here's hoping we break our record 10 sacks last year by getting at least 11!

Three Opening Season Offensive Surprises for the Ducks
I'm sure it will be. It makes the defense have to prepare for that look and at the very least it would be a nice short yardage formation. Even though I know they ran it for the first play of the game. Of the team can handle it the more formations the better. I'm kinda expecting the offense to look more like 2023 than 2024 because Moore has been in the system for a full year at this point.

Once Colorado State repositioned their linebackers and a safety following Coleman’s TD, he rarely got up to speed. Yeah, we’ll make them one dimensional.

Football Dynasties: No More Moby Dick...
Great post, Gat, thank you. As Charles so noted, NIL, free agency, and now Revenue Sharing have spread talent around. However, in 2025-26, I believe we will see what we see almost every season: a team ranked in the top 6 in the preseason AP Poll winning it all. This season, how about a Yo 7! for OBD! Winning a Natty requires three or four wins against top competition and turns Cinderella into a PO Pumpkin. Watch out for Georgia. In the midst of Texas and Arch Madness and the 'no more baffling losses for Bama' rhetoric 😁, Georgia just keeps plugging away. IMO, three Nattys in five seasons would have the CFB Captain Ahabs chasing the Moby Dawgs.

SEC Coverage: Thoughts on ESPN?
Welcome! There is very little untainted analysis of anything on TV in general imo. It’s all about packaging the next thing to watch or buy. What used to be fun and an event (any GameDay show on Saturday) has now become noise and I’m tuning in for just the game.

New Freedoms Allowed for GameDay Threads: "Go Ahead and Let it Go...."
I’ll admit here and now that ALL the kids playing for OBD are far better that I ever was, and for coaching, I’ve never been offered a job to coach football at any level. Therefore, they’re all better players and smarter coaches. So I’ll just wince occasionally, when somebody makes a mistake. When a coaching decision doesn’t work out, I’ll groan a little. Otherwise, I’ll watch and enjoy. And here on the forum, I’ll read with pretty much the same reactions. I appreciate what you are doing here Charles. I hope you don’t end up regretting this decision.

It was a miracle that Penix and his 3 primary WR targets weren't injured over those 2 seasons....particularly given Penix's previous health history.

Lanning's Humor..."He's Blocking the Wrong Guy, But..."
It's a good sign that Dak wants to be the best player he can possibly be. Pancake blocks by a WR of his size are a darn good start!

General Comments on Ducks & College Football
My thoughts: 3 sacks, 7 TFLs Not enough, in my opinion. This was an FCS opponent. And yeah, they got the ball out quick at times, but I still expected more than 3 sacks and 7 tackles for loss. For comparison, Miami put up 3 sacks and 5 TFLs against Notre Dame — not an FCS team. Maybe they were keeping things conservative, or maybe it’s just first-game rust, but either way the front seven should’ve made a bigger statement. Hopefully we see them turn it up next week.

Watched some of the ESPN segment on week 1 reactions...I can't remember the last time I cringed so hard, the mental gymnastics some of those guys were doing to protect the SEC bias was mind-blowing.

Three Opening Season Offensive Surprises for the Ducks
I also noticed the QB under center and thought that was rather interesting. I wonder if that will become a regular part of play calling over the season.
