Why did we not represent the ducks in atlanta
$$$$$ Without the benefit of Uncle Phil's private aircraft, perhaps Oregon fans were hoping to spend their money on a trip to Miami to watch the champ game instead of the Orange Bowl. 850,000 living Indiana alums who have not seen good football played consistently from 1887 until the last two seasons. They are feasting on the chance to follow their No. 1-ranked team. OBD has 253,000 living alumni. 393 miles - distance from Bloomington, IN to Atlanta. Piece of cake drive for students with a couple of cases of lager on board. A short flight that isn't a budget buster. 2179 miles - distance from Eugene to Atlanta. If the CFB PO were reseeded as the NFL PO, Oregon's game against Ole Miss in the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix would have been well attended by Oregon fans. Ole Miss had far more fans on hand than Miami. Indiana fans would have dwarfed Miami fans in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. The two remaining top seeds would have had the opportunity to play each other for the title, not just to win a semifinal game. For so long as this Bowl Extravaganza is produced and directed by Disney/ESPN, West Coast teams will be at a travel disadvantage. Next season, in a rare Western setting, Las Vegas hosts the title game. If OBD gets there, Allegiant Stadium will be a sea of green.

I read somewhere that Oregon's allotment of tickets were sold out.

Why did we not represent the ducks in atlanta
I think a lot of people were not convinced we would win, it's a long trip to Atlanta, and those that have the means to go were hoping to save money in anticipation of going to Miami the next week. Indiana is doing this for the first time with a much bigger alumni base which is much closer to Atlanta. I don't think Oregon will travel well to these games out East, it's a lot to ask families who have taken these trips in the past.

Duck Players in the Portal Now at 15, and Coach's Comment
Total is now 25. However, only one player, Blake Purchase was part of the the two deep. So, not feeling badly. Just making room for folks who want to do what it takes to make it on the the two deep. Playing time now. Or play for a perennial playoff contender in your last year or two. Guess for these guys it's playing time now. Sadly many will not even find another team. So will end up with no playing time. 🤷🏾♂️

Leas then 10 percent oregon fans in Atlanta, curious what happened. Hear rumors Indiana but our tickets off our own site, could this have been true, or we just dont travel any more?

Transfer portel well over 20 leaving now
How can we sustain a class or even next year with this many leaving, understand where some of these kids are coming from wanting playing time. Unfortunately there is a lack of talent in the portal. Indiana and others have taken up alot of talent in the portal already. Ive had faith in Dan the man, but its starting to loose its luster a tad. Always a fan, born and raised in oregon wanting better for our team, but this really hurts IMO. Hopingand praying we can do better. We need some fresh coaching on offense keep seeing the same old plays

Transfer Portal Hails and Farewells
The good news is that the front four of a top-notch D-line is returning. The bad news is that a big group of developmental players are transferring out. Sorry to see Purchase and Gray leave as they were showing a lot of promise.

Transfer Portal Hails and Farewells
As I mentioned earlier, I have a feeling that there will be incoming transfers of good quality that we haven't heard about yet. Players hear things, I think that may be what is preceding some of these.

Prediction: Mario and ‘The U’ Beat Indiana by Double Digits
I don't know. I waited most of the year for Mendoza to have an "off" game. Didn't happen. But I can't root for Mario. I saw him on TV the other day. He was asked about UO being viewed as a stepping stone. Maybe I missed something, but he didn't even respond to the question. Someone correct me if you saw it.

How many of these Defensive transfers will be going with Tosh?

Duck Players in the Portal Now at 15, and Coach's Comment
I think Purchase is a "me" kind of guy. I could see instances when Matayo, TT and Purchase were on the field at the same time all game. That trio is better suited to assist the DTs in shutting down running games. All three are decent in pass coverage. But that's just me. I will never question what Lanning wants to do (anymore). I will simply state my preference. The defense is horribly weak at inside linebacker. Not enough lateral speed, not enough coverage speed, not enough closing speed. For me, that requires sealing the edge like granite, forcing all run plays inside, and using the speed we have in the secondary to effectively defend against lethal passing teams. Take not that Indiana only won a down field 1 on 1 matchup once in Both Games. They had to use back shoulder throws to complete passes. I don't think you can execute that strategy all game Lanning minimizes the damage his "weak" LBs are in his scheme. I must say this, Lupoi was brilliant this year. He had a 8 on 11 kind of defense. He was always three short of a full package. The coaches would never say it, but doesn't lie. We had holes that excellent coaches sought out and destroyed. Purchase leaving closes a strategy Lanning could use to shore up a huge weakness. I don't worry as much about it because Lanning coached up a flawed defense (in terms of personnel and what he wanted to do with his scheme)

We might need to add some D-Linemen from the portal.

Prediction: Mario and ‘The U’ Beat Indiana by Double Digits
After the way Ole Miss moved the ball on Miami, the Hurricanes better be able to score 40 plus. Indiana has already proven they can handle Mack Truck teams. I don't believe this game will be determined at the line of scrimmage. Not the way people think of physicality. Indiana is beyond that kind of football.

Oregon Coordinators: Replace?
I think it would be wise to conclude that Indiana is simply a better team than Oregon, at least this year. Different coordinators wouldn't have made a difference. It might have helped if Oregon had had its full complement of running backs. That way the Ducks might have have run the ball on the first play from scrimmage instead of throwing a sideline pass. That first play, possibly chosen because the coaches were unsure of the running game's strength, set the tone for the whole game. But I still don't think Indiana could have been beaten. The Hoosiers may be a team of destiny. They played a nearly perfect game and deserved to win. It's not a bad thing to finish in the top 4, even when Oregon fans are frustrated at not being able to "win the big one."

Transfer Portal Hails and Farewells
This transfer is confusing because he’s so young and we haven’t been bringing in transfer edge rushers. We only have two seniors, a sophomore and an incoming freshman.

Raiola: Is There Fire With This Smoke??
I also believe Raiola would be a mistake. Unless ... We start raining bombs all game on defenses ( which is what I've been calling for for quite some time now). Why did we beat Ohio State? Both times it was because we could pass on them at will. The QB is the most important and most dangerous position in sports when you can't stop his ability to throw any and everything down your throat. Unless we get an NFL caliber ( and I truly mean 28 year old dominant studs caliber) OL that can average TEN YARDS A CARRY, I don't believe we will win a Natty running the ball. Now I happen to believe Lanning is of the Chip Kelly persuasion. He wants to run it down your throat. I believe he is will have to learn like Chip did. I don't agree with either. But I'm not running the show. So I'll back my man and keep my fingers crossed.
