ESPN College Football Gameday at SEC Championship Game
One ranking after the champ games are played, and all of the data is in. There was no discussion over 3-loss Texas being in the field. All agreed that 3-loss Bama should not worry. But all agreed that Notre Dame better worry. They also discussed a Duke win putting Tulane and JMU in the field with the ACC shut out.

Tech looks to be the better team, up at the half 13-7. BYU qb is gimpy on a bad ankle and TT's front seven is handling BYU's O-line. Their LB Rodriguez is a load and their best defensive player. Tech's qb is a bit undersized but evasive, like UW's Williams. Given a clean pocket he is fairly accurate but gets sloppy when rushed or pressured without an easy scramble out. He has thrown two balls that could/should have been picked off. They have two good and tall WRs (#1 and #7) and the BYU DBs are a bit over-matched. The RB (#8) is solid but he coughed up a fumble that should have been a TO and instead bounced right to a Tech WR that got 10 more yards on the FG drive before the half. Interesting that three of TT's drives on BYU's side of the 50 stalled out and resulted in 3 FG attempts with 6 total points. Oregon will match up much better than BYU both on the D-line and in the back end. I'm pulling for a TT win so they stay at #4, OBD stays at #5 and they meet up in the quarters. I think Oregon wins that contest. Go Ducks!

I didn’t bother watching the SEC infomercial. What was their alternative? How many times did they say Alabama should be in regardless of the championship game outcome? Texas? Vandy?

ESPN College Football Gameday at SEC Championship Game
Banned from Bristol! WOW! Herbie, and by body language, Saint Nick and Pat Mc, and most of the GameDay crew, sans Rece, call for an end to interim PO rankings! May not happen in 2026-27, but PO format changes are coming, and will be implemented by 2027-28 at the latest.

Is it too early to bring up Sandusky? Penn State, as an institution, covered for that SOB. They knew…

I really hope this doesn’t happen but…What would happen if there were a season ending injury to a key player in the B1G or SEC Championship Games? Would that conference finally move to end the conference championship game?

If I was on the committee and TTU pulled their starters at halftime and lost. I would vote to have them eliminated from the playoffs. I would not reward such behavior and that would send a message to coaches in future years.

They are having some success running right at them right now. Not so much on pass pro. Texas Tech’s second level defenders look fast but a bit undersized. If you can find a way to neutralize Texas Tech’s d-line, you’d have to like the matchups.

This BYU OL is completely in over their head. Now they are playing desperate football because of it. This could get out of hand fast.

It really bothers me that wide receiver push offs are mostly ignored. Offenses have all the advantages in today’s game. No reason to give them another.

Well the official and the network worked very hard to ignore an obvious push off by the WR on the touchdown throw. After NTU/Tulane last night I'm highly sus there are some big thumbs on the scale for these playoff play-in games.

I agree that BYU has more to play for and I’m looking at the players, schemes and potential matchups. Texas Tech has some good players but no one that has wowed me. Their QB is mediocre.

It's odd: Texas Tech's reward for winning would be likely playing a warmed up Oregon after being off themselves for a few weeks. BYU gets a playoff spot if they win and are left out if they lose, so they have everything to play for. The TTU head coach is probably wondering how he can lose this game without getting punished too bad for it. If he pulls the starters after halftime nobody knows how the committee would handle that.

BYU 7, Texas Tech 0 BYU’s defense got a stop and their offense marched right down the field.

It’s early but I’d prefer to play Texas Tech over any of the other currently ranked top 4 teams. They are a good team but nothing special, IMO. Their QB may be the worst of any of the playoff teams (ranks #29 in QBR) and Texas Tech’s SOS is ranked 59. They may be a paper tiger.

I didn’t see a thread to discuss the Big 12 Championship Game between BYU and Texas Tech

Iowa State Coach to Penn State, Wash State Coach to Iowa State
It’s definitely not an upgrade over Franklin. This is what happens when you fire a coach mid-season without a plan and you think it’s 1994.

Oregon's New Offensive Coordinator--An Internal Hire?
When the coordinators left, Dan Lanning talked to the media about his goals of helping everyone in the program to meet their goals and dreams - players and coaches. How is he helping his coaches if he doesn't promote from within if those coaches are ready? If these two guys are ready and don't get promoted, they will be hired elsewhere which means we lose some good position coaches, co-coordinators, and recruiters that already buy into the culture and Dan's expectations of them. What kind of return on investment does that give DL??? We all know about DL's little black book of people he would hire when the opportunity came. He has made some great hires that at the time many people questioned. Dan hasn't had to fire anyone, so I assume he is happy with who he has hired so far. Besides... the Ducks are winning!!! Dan is going to stick around as long as he keeps winning... and he is going to do whatever it takes to win... because he likes it here.

Oregon's New Offensive Coordinator--An Internal Hire?
I always believe in promoting from within if I have well qualified people, but don’t hesitate to go outside when needed. Dan seems to be of the same mindset, thumbs up!

Oregon's New Offensive Coordinator--An Internal Hire?
Lanning's made good hires and now all of a sudden he's blowing it? Agree. He's been spot on since he was hired as far as assistants goes. I fail to see how all of a sudden he's making two bad moves.

Forum Friends - Which Teams Will Win Their Conference Champ Game?
With the Tulane win, come on, Georgia, Texas Tech, and ... Ohio State? Yes, I want the Buckeyes to defeat Indiana, but not blow them out. 1. Ohio State - Rose Bowl/ 2. Georgia - Sugar Bowl/ 3. Texas Tech - Cotton Bowl 4. Indiana - Orange Bowl vs. OBD. With respect to a Tulane team that defeated Northwestern and will not be a pushover in Autzen, I want the Devil OBD knows, Mr. Hoosier, and incentivized to defeat instead of Texas Tech in Dallas. Plus, we get a preview of where OBD will be playing for a Natty. 😁 Yes, this would likely mean a semifinal game vs Ohio State in Atlanta. No semifinal opponent will be a pushover, and OBD will be incentivized to halt the Buckeyes' back-to-back title run.🤬 Go Red Raiders, Dawgs, and (yuck) buckeyes!

Thankfully, these picks were made using Pat McAfee's $. I did go 3 for 4, which makes you a lot of money in MLB. 😁 This Is Not A Tsunami Warning! 🤢 I think a Green Wave is headed for Eugene. CFB-HQ On SIPredicting the College Football Playoff after Tulane wins...All that Tulane had to do was take down North Texas to win the American Conference championship, and it was all but assured a place in the College Football Play

On the subject of new coach hires, what's your take on Sumrall? He certainly threw last night as Tulane handled North Texas and is on the way to the PO, and Eugene, I hope.
