More Hits to the Huskies...and Humor!
PittDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just when we think “stick a fork in ‘em, they ‘re done!” They hemorrhage some more! Our coach stayed, and we are going to the CFP! Your coach left to be the 4th choice of a former powerhouse, and the best team you ever is deserting in droves, like rats from a sinking ship! and who is to blame? ”Washington has without a doubt the most whiny ungrateful hyena moaning fans I have ever experienced, its bar none”. Quote attributed to Kalen DeBoer when asked why he left Washington for Alabama -
Whiney ungrateful hyena moaning fans! Bar none! Wow! And from their greatest coach ever! That is gonna be a retort that will never grow old!

QUAAACK!!! Evan Stewart Commits to Oregon
PittDuck replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
@DrJacksPlaidPants Today just keeps getting better and better! What a time to be a fan of OBD! -
It will be interesting to see how long Alabama can keep getting top 10 recruiting classes, let alone top 5. Are any of the Bama coaching staff going to stay on and help? If not, the tide will not roll, it will fade.
-
Will either one take him?
-
Seems to me that going to Bama to follow.Nic Saban is a recipe for disaster. That is a painfully high bar to meet and the expectation to win it all year in and year out would just be a pressure cooker. So, much like Pollyanna, I fouling to trust the DL is a man of his word, and will stay to build OBD into the next college football powerhouse! Unless Bama triples his salary, I think DL stays.

Ducks Finish Tied with Florida State in Final AP Poll of 2023 Season
PittDuck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Is there any doubt at all as to the outcome of a late season game pitting FSU against U of O? Bo & Co could have payed them in Tallahassee and won by more than 17 points! But yeah they tied us for #6. -
Putting Lanning’s Second Year into Perspective
PittDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I too, have been and continue to be impressed with Dan Lanning. I agree with most of the posters, and trust that he is doing right by OBD to the best of his abilities. That said, it just sets me off when I read the Gameday thread for the first quarter of the Fiesta Bowl and saw how many of us (well more than a few) were ragging on DL and/or OBD for not starting strong, not calling the right plays, etc. I saw the same stuff during the PAC 12 Championship game. If we are indeed going to trust in the man, maybe let’s try to be a little slower with the negative comments when things are not going as we thought they should be. Don’t get me wrong, I love all who make up OBD Forum, it is just that sometimes the need to post something snippy gets the better of us, myself included. After some slight chastisement by sir Charles, I try to think twice before posting, and I really don’t want to rain (or read) negativity on OBD. -
CFP National Championship Postgame Discussion
PittDuck replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
At least we won’t spend the next 30 years hearing about their Natty! They get to slink home with their tails between their legs. Somehow that makes it all ok!- 48 replies

Oregon OT Ajani Cornelius Announces Return to Eugene for 2024 Season
PittDuck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It just keeps getting better and better for OBD! Go Ducks! -
Good article Ryan, you bring up some very good and valid points. In 2024, experience will be a strength fo OBD! Although, thinking about the relative age of the “old” Ducks you referenced made this graybeard feel positively ancient!

Doesn’t the baseball, softball and Track & Field teams finish this year playing PAC 12 teams?

Wonky Washington Whiners seems more fitting.

Is Bo Nix Oregon’s Best Football Player Ever?
PittDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great ponder point and well written article Alex, thank you! Talk about a loaded question. However, like many of my fellow Duck Buddies on here, I think it is a question with no correct answer. There are just too many variables. Bo got to play under a perfect storm! When is the last time OBD had such a loaded receiver room? What would the record books look like had he played for Rich Brooks or Mike Bellotti? Would Bo have put up the numbers he put up with WT’s O line? What would his numbers have looked like if Mari-no-O was the coach? How about if he had LMJ, Bobby Moore, DAT, or a Rolls Royce in the backfield? Again, just too many variables. Dont get me wrong, I think Bo is, well, Bo-Dacious! He gave us a boatload of great memories and outstanding football. A student of the game, he may have understood his offense schematically like no one else. I look forward to watching him play on Sundays and hope he gets a team that can let him shine. At the end of the day, I think he is destined to be a coach when he is done playing. -
Oregon LB Jeffrey Bassa Announces Return for 2024 Season
PittDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
AWESOME! -
Thank you for sharing that @Pennsylvania Duck! Very cool update. Troy had a great year indeed! I think Tex may surpass him if he sticks around. It was great seeing some of those names from yesteryear, and the memories they brought up. Nice to see a lot of Josh Huff and Jeff Maehl in those lists, two of my all time favorites!

The Fiesta Bowl is a Must-Win Game for Lanning
PittDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nice article David, thanks! I agree with pretty much everything but the title! For me, ‘must win’ insinuates he get fired for a loss, and I don’t see that happening. OBD should win this handily, and give a lot of the future Ducks some meaningful snaps. If, for some obscure reason, the football gods smile on our worthy opponent, and frown on OBD, all will not be lost, we will still have had extra practice time, and next years version of OBD will have had meaningful snaps. Either way, DL and co will be back next year to lead the Ducks to multiple victories in the BIG! Go Ducks! -
Wishing ALL of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe, Healthy, and Happy New Year! Thank you Charles for creating and maintaining this magical Forum with Decorum, and letting us play in your wonderful playground.

How to Cook a Steak: I’m Disappointed in Dan Lanning
PittDuck replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Obviously you have never fried up fresh venison blackstrap in a cast iron pan,. Not only is it sublimely delicious, the leavings in the pan make the best gravy you will ever taste. Fresh biscuits, blackstrap and gravy is too die for (at least in this ol’ country boy’s mind,) -
Updated and Admin Revised: Top Rated Recruiting Class: Who Cares?!
PittDuck replied to DanLduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ok, I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll take Recruiting Prowess over Academic Prowess any day or the week! Thank you @SoGaDawg for reminding me what the priorities are! And THAT is why our record setting class of commitments is important!
