GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Tez Johnson is an interesting kid. He doesn't have elite breakaway speed needed for consistent separation from defensive backs. I don't see him making home run plays for a TD. He's more quick and squirrelly, so he can get you 5-10 yards in the middle of the field if you toss a quick pass to him.

Agreed. Humans are creatures of habit and Will Stein is no different. He keeps going back to those screen passes which now everyone and their mother has seen. The offense had better results when they started having the receivers run slant routes and attacking with mid-length passes. That allowed the running game to finally get going.

Offense needs to continue making adjustments. These slow starts are going to kill OBD when they play better teams.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
They missed a holding call by WSU just a couple plays ago.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Seems like the defensive backs are losing track of the receivers on nearly every play. Are they watching the QB instead of the pass catchers?

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
I'm not blaming them, I'm simply predicting it based on what I'm seeing.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
As good as the defense is, it's not going to last forever. Will Stein and the offense needs to do their jobs and score.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Given that they took forever to figure out where to spot the ball on the last play, I'm going to stick with they're not inspiring any confidence. They're going to cause problems, especially if the game is tight at the end.

Well that was interesting.

These refs are not inspiring any confidence.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Agree. WSU is selling out to stop the run. If Nix pulls it a couple times they'll back off

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Glad they tried that trick play early in game and not at a critical juncture. That was terrible.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
We know it's not Camden's technique that's an issue. I'm guessing the confidence/psychological issues he has his freshman year might be resurfacing for whatever reason. In any case this is not a good sign for special teams.

GameDay Thread vs. Washington State: Join Us!
Feels like the swing pass play calling is getting predictable. WSU's defense was ready twice in a row.

I'm digging the throwback uniforms

Wowsa. THIS is Why Oregon is Beating USC for Recruiting Defensive Players...
Not to mention both DL and Tosh have national championship rings as DCs. I don't think any other team can make this boast.

Next Year: Ready for 9:00 AM Games?
They need to make those 12:30pm PST kick off times. That makes the most sense in getting proper exposure across all time zones. 9:00am is a good way to tick off the entire west coast.

Streaming Football Games
Yeah, Sling is a little weird. ESPN is on the "orange" package while FS1 is on the "blue" package, both are $40 stand alone or $55 to get both. B1G Network is on the supplemental "sports" package for an extra $11 (though it also includes the networks for SEC, ACC, FS2, NBA TV, etc.).

Questions About the New Coaches Lanning Hired?
I think we need something similar for Will Stein. A veteran OC that can come on as an offensive analyst that can provide all sorts of guidance and sage advice before game time.

Oregon's Recruiting Efforts Benefit as Ducks Remain Among Nation's Most-Watched Teams
What's interesting is Elijah's general body language and facial expressions. Unless I'm really bad at interpreting, he sounds like he's just ready to be done with the whole recruiting thing and get it out of the way asap. I feel like this bodes well for OBD since we were essentially his 2nd choice when he prematurely committed to AZ.

Questions About the New Coaches Lanning Hired?
Expectations should realistically be tempered with Will Stein before the season started. He's absolutely an intelligent, creative, young offensive mind like Kenny Dillingham. The interesting juxtaposition with Will and Kenny is that coming into this season, Will had less overall experience as an OC at the college level but twice as much as an actual play caller (2 years vs 1 for Kenny). Because of this, I couldn't really "guestimate" Will's and Kenny's would-be performance comparison beyond a wash and that we'd see similar year 2 improvement and growing pains if Kenny had stayed with play calling duties. Unfortunately we just have to be patient with Will. Like Charles points out, overall he's been doing a fantastic job despite his short resume coming into the program. He's bright, inventive, and adaptive like most of the young coaching staff. I say "unfortunately" because that timing doesn't line up with what we need because of the talent and experience we have in the players...Bo and Franklin are both likely gone after this season. It is what it is, we just need to accept that there will inevitably be bumps along the way and that may stop OBD from getting to the CFP or even the Pac12 championship game this year. But the future is invariably bright and with the continued top 10 recruiting classes pouring in, the coaching staff has an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent to mold and make Oregon really competitive in the B10.
