Final 2023 Top 247 Rankings
Oregon commits see changes in final release of the Top 247 247SPORTS.COM The final rankings for the 2023 recruiting class are in for the Top 247, and the Oregon Ducks have seen plenty of movement. Here is a recap of the big moves for the Matayo Uiagalelei took a pretty steep drop from #17 to #47 overall, losing his 5* status. Who's in, who's out: Final Top247 5-star edition 247SPORTS.COM In years past, 247Sports waited until this final release to crown 32 five-star prospects. But with a shift in philosophy (explained here), we released a penultimate top-32 in According to this article, it seems that consistency is what's holding him back. Either he has an issue with his motor or with sufficient motivation possibly?

Mario Fires Josh Gattis After One Year
How many OCs will Miami go through before the AD figures out Mario is the issue?

Patriots Hire OC, but Klemm...
True. But toiling in mediocrity or even bad performance for years also has a toll on the psyche.

Patriots Hire OC, but Klemm...
Seems like a lateral move to me at best. Go to the NFL and be "just" and offensive line coach on a Pats team whose best days are behind them or stay with Oregon with multiple job titles and fielding some of the best OLs in the country.

Canzano: Pac-12 Has a Nasty Larry Scott Hangover
There needs to be lawsuits filed against Leisure Suit Larry. Definitely claw back all those ill-gotten gains he's accumulated at the conference's expense. Some serious jail time wouldn't hurt either.

Bill Schonely Dead at 93
Oh man, I knew this was coming at some point due to his age but it still doesn't make it any less sad. Had so many fond memories listening to him on the radio and tv broadcasts for all those Blazer games I grew up watching. Portland just lost an icon, I hope they put some kind of permanent memorial somewhere around the arena.

State of Duck Position Groups...Continuing Series
OL is probably the group that will have the most inconsistency the first half of the season while the new starters settle into their roles and develop chemistry.

Wowza...Ready for Another YOUNG Oregon Football Team?
Expect a lot of mistakes on the field in year 2 of the Lanning era but it should be interesting to see how they improve over the course of the season.

Duck and Pac 12 Football 2023 Schedule Released
The ADs absolutely let USC and UCLA off the hook. Chip Kelly gets to avoid Oregon and the Fuskies while the Condoms get two bye weeks (the second right before the Pac12 championship).

Report: OL Coach Adrian Klemm to Interview for OC Job with New England Patriots
Nope. Associate HC and run game coordinator are the highest positions Klemm has had so far.

Why Oregon Should Jump at Opportunity to Join Another Conference
As someone who works in tech (software engineer) and also uses Amazon's cloud services, one thing you can always count on is technology adoption will always progress forward. Tons of people are already taking that extra step of moving to streaming-only services for their media, I know at least several of us here on the forum have ditched Comcast/Xfinity long ago for subscriptions to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Apple+ etc. The key is, as with most things with it comes to retail services, is selection. The more sports broadcasting becomes available to streaming services, the faster the adoption will happen. Amazon Prime Video is already doing NFL and World Cup soccer while Apple+ has MLB. That's happened only in the last couple years. After 10 years we should see most sports available with large audiences to stream them. Remember, 10-15 years is basically a generation...younger folks are more likely to embrace technological innovation...that same innovation makes reaching these services easier to do each year. Smart TVs now make it possible to watch shows and sports on those same streaming providers in just a couple of clicks on your remote, not a lot more effort than flipping a channel on old cable.

2024 Football Recruits...Announcements, Updates (#1)
You can definitely see the kind of LB's that Lanning is trying to recruit. Kids that are 6'2-6'3" and around 210 lbs...put them in UO's training program and they get up to 225-230 lbs, he basically wants big safeties backing up the DL.

Duck and Pac 12 Football 2023 Schedule Released
I like Oregon's first half schedule. 5 games + bye week, toughest opponent would be Texas Tech. That will give the team some breathing room to get used to the new OC and figure out the defense. Plus the bye week comes right before playing the Fuskies so that extra prep time will come in handy.

Why Oregon Should Jump at Opportunity to Join Another Conference
The author also seems to completely discount the growth of streaming as a media delivery platform. In 10-15 years sports are going to be provided by just about every streaming provider, cutting into traditional channels in a big way.

Oregon Football News and Happenings
Given the really tough schedule OBD has next season, I'm glad the 3 OOC games are relative cupcakes. With all the new players coming in and a new OC, they'll need every one of those games to iron out wrinkles in the offense and defense before Pac12 play.

USC -Loses an Asset
I think he hurt his draft value some going to USC. If he stayed at Pitt he could have put up another season of ridiculous numbers and be a top 10 or top 5 pick.

Justin Herbert Needs a New Team
Wow. How do you lose a game where the other team gifts you 4 INTs? By sidelining your best player for the entire 2nd half. Absolutely unbelievable. There are going to be some hard questions asked of the head coach by ownership.

OC Garrett Riley To Clemson
Feels like Brandon Streeter got screwed at Clemson. Only on the job as OC for 1 season and they had a significant improvement in offense during that year. Impatience is the key to failure.

Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren to be Named Chicago Bears President, CEO
He sounds like a commissioner version of Willie Taggart.

BREAKING: Former 5-Star DL Transfer Jordan Burch Commits to Oregon
If DL and TL bring out his full potential, then Matayo and Dorlus should stand to benefit. Imagine lining up all 3 of them to pressure the opposing QB??

BREAKING: Former 5-Star DL Transfer Jordan Burch Commits to Oregon
Wow the defensive line is getting rebuilt in a hurry!
-
Statistically: Ducks Improved Dramatically on Offense, Regressed on Defense, Special Teams
It was pretty obvious that the defensive linemen and linebackers, for the most part, were ill-suited for the kind of defense DL and TL wanted to run. Given the sheer number of recruits and transfers on defense coming in, they're looking to address it very quickly.

Well that was slightly less than competitive.

How Dan Lanning Will Trim the Football Roster to 85
Great article Charles! I agree that DL is probably taking this route but taking it slow since he's only going into his 2nd year. First obvious play I think we'll start seeing this "de-recruitment" method is at defensive line given the sheer number of high school recruits and transfers he has coming in at those positions. The end result will be at least 2 layers of quality depth and a string of transfers out by the time Fall practice starts.
