  1. Joe Brady is a high risk/high reward candidate. He would definitely raise the offense profile and that comes with some attraction for recruits. The question would be can he manage his own football program competently and competitively? I'm not sure why some are anti-Tedford...overall he's a very good experienced coach and skilled at designing a good offense. The only question for him would be would his health hold up, especially with such competitive recruiting efforts nowadays.
  2. It's not unexpected. Kelvin Bank's primary recruiters were Cristobal and Mirabal.
  3. If Mullens is seriously talking with Chip, then he need a couple thing: - Hire a good director of recruiting + staff to support that - Bring in Helfrich as OC. Like him or not, Mark's high offensive IQ allowed him to modify the schemes every year to keep it effective against teams who were becoming better prepared for it.
  4. Dave Aranda would be a big get, albeit maybe not a perfect fit. He's a defense-minded coach so if he were to come to Oregon then he'd need to search for an exceptional OC as his offense typically scores around 25-30 pts a game. Plus he's expressed that he wants to stay in Baylor so it may be moot. Joe Prady would be a splashy hire, instant offense credibility comes with him...the QB and WR rooms would be ecstatic to see him. He's never been an HC before at the FBS or pro levels so it would be a question of how well he'd be able to manage an entire program. Despite what others say, Chip coming back wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. The point about the game catching up to the hurry up offense is true....however if he were to step into Oregon now, he'd be working with a roster head and shoulders above anything he's worked with previously in terms of talent. He brought enormous success with primarily 3*'s and a handful of 4*'s....what could he do with primarily 4*'s and 5*'s?
  5. Isiah Crocker taking advantage of some live game snaps. One of the few on offense that looks like he's playing with any urgency.
  6. Oregon's OL playing with no fire, almost looks like they didn't want to be there from the start of the game.
  7. It definitely puts them in an awkward situation if he does leave. It also makes it exponentially more difficult for the new starting QB next season....having to face Georgia with only 1-2 games under your belt while learning a new offensive scheme and meshing with a new playcaller? That kind of timing is terrible...
  8. Helfrich was in a tough spot. It's difficult to recruit high quality QBs when they know they would ride the bench for however long Mariota would be there. As I recall, Oregon had multiple blue chip QBs transfer out as that was precisely the case...that basically led to a situation of needing to recruit precisely the right QB during Mariota's last year that had a high probability of panning out....not exactly easy.
  9. Some guys just want to be their own boss, I can understand that. After his mediocre tenure at Miss St., having a successful run at Akron for a few years would be his way back into the Power 5 as an HC.
  10. Moorhead is apparently the leading HC candidate for Akron. He spent a number of years there previously so it's not impossible that he would take it. His buyout is only $287k unless it's an HC gig then it's completely waived.
  11. Andrew Nemec just had a podcast that addresses the 3 decommits and after hearing all the evidence I agree with him that it's nothing to worry about.
  12. Oregon's fanbase, like many other passionate fanbases, can often be very fickle...swinging from one way to another at a moment's notice. Should we question some of MC's choices? Sure. Is the on-field play inconsistent this season? No doubt. Should we completely dismiss and dump MC? Absolutely not. We all had suspicions on where Oregon's strengths and weaknesses lay before the season started. A good number of us have accurately surmised that this season's team had a ceiling of perhaps the Rose Bowl (myself being one of them). Of course peoples' hopes and expectations rose with the win over tOSU but that didn't change the makeup of the roster or coaches. When you take a step back and look at the season from a 10,000 foot view this is what you should honestly see so far, a 9-2 record at this point despite: - A mediocre QB - A new DC and defensive scheme (one could also argue the offensive scheme is also somewhat new given the circumstances and lack of time last season) - Season-ending injuries to a large number of critical players (as well as significant injuries times for other critical players) - A very young roster Oregon could still end the season with an 11-2 record, a Pac12 championship, and a trip to the Rose Bowl. That's still pretty good in my book and still worthy of high end recruits wanting to be part of something that's on cusp of the CFP.
  13. It's a good reminder that no matter how you feel about Oregon's season, it's a great deal better than all those Power 5 programs right now that are in chaos. Taking a step back to look at the bigger picture, MC has done an admirable job guiding the Ducks to 9-2 so far with the multitude of injuries, mediocre QB play, and one of the youngest rosters in the nation.
  14. Still not chump change. Plus how many of us were thinking Oregon would be in the CFP this season? I personally had predicted a Rose Bowl as the ceiling for the team and that was back before losing so many players to injury. As for AB, we all knew what he was after a couple games. The fact that they're 9-2 at this point with all the adversity they've faced this season counts as a success in my book.
  15. Trying to win the Pac12 championship and get into a NY6 bowl isn't just a participation trophy.
  16. Preparation does take a hit when injuries pile up. That being said, my original point to the first poster was that you can't discount the effect of injuries when it comes to the number the Oregon has suffered this season. Case in point, we're starting Jordan Happle with a club on his arm because there's no one else.
  17. Of course not. But this isn't just on the QB, Oregon played terribly in just about every single aspect.
  18. You absolutely have to account for injuries. Go back to the roster and count the number of starters that are out now or for the year. Now even Verone McKinley was knocked out of the game. It doesn't matter how well you recruit, Oregon's had an absurd number of injuries this year to critical guys on both 1st and 2nd string.
  19. It also goes both ways though, the WRs need to catch the good passes. Spencer Webb should have had that.
  20. The receivers are starting to show their frustration with him, I can't say I blame them. He tossed an easy one to Devon Williams' feet on one play then threw it behind Troy Franklin almost immediately after. AB really needs to take a breath and get it together.
  21. You'd think DeRyeuter would have learned by now. Why doesn't he bring the LBs closer in during those situations?
  22. The defense is showing a stunning inability to make a stop on 3rd down.
