NCAA Shows Its Toothless Grin
I'm not sure what you are getting at. None of us were even born born when this stupid trust/monopoly was set up in jest of the Sherman act over 100 years ago overriding it's initial reason for society's original request for its existence, which was to prevent football players from dying as had been occurring too frequently. Most of us have also never worked for colleges universities or voted on any laws that would impact the NCAA or university alignment with it. Merely watching games does not presume our agreement with how the funds are distributed. Saying the NCAA was necessary for a level playing field is very different than agreeing individuals cannot be compensated for their efforts. I've always struggled internally with the status quo mores handed down from one generation to the next that amateurism has value beyond those that enjoy exploiting it for monetary gain. My indignation towards the NCAA violating the Sherman Act for more than a century without being called to account is righteous. No straw man required.

RB Coach Ra'Shaad Samples Expects to Win Texas Recruiting Battles
That caught my ear too. Lanning's vision is that there aren't any bell cows outside of QB. The basic concept is multiple great players playing at 100% every snap yields better results than playing one best player at 95% on average due to the extra work load. What is faster a 4x100 team or the fastest 400 meter runner in the world? The factual answer is the former. So I can't disagree with the approach especially when we are able to acquire the depth we have were the individuals agree that the quality of each snap played is more important than total production stats to NFL scouts. The secondary effect of this strategy is the redundancy makes the position more resilient to injuries that knock out a single individual, AND since sports science has come to the conclusion that most injuries occur when the body is overworked, so the probability of injury goes down for everyone when they aren't pushed to that point in a game.

One Freakish Duck and the Freaks We Will Face in 2024 (Pre-Playoffs)
His most impressive plays have been getting to the ball carrier and bringing them down moreso than rushing the QB successfully. I'd be just fine with them giving him more of an inside bias and let other speedsters come off the edge to get to the QB.

Tennessee Reporter Says Oregon's Strategy is "Just Go Buy Us a Class"; Dan Lanning Proving Otherwise
It came from that discussion that we got the TE to commit to us because of a higher NIL offer even though his heart was with Tennessee, which ultimately made him flip. That being the case his comments were wholly unsubstantiated libel against DL and the Ducks program, but as we know this was a serious case of projecting Tennessee's historical flaws on another program.

Tennessee Reporter Says Oregon's Strategy is "Just Go Buy Us a Class"; Dan Lanning Proving Otherwise
That was not a smart career move to be so flippant as a reporter.

2024 Will Begin the B1G Transition to a League of Offense.
To the mid, even late 2010's the SEC was the League of Defense. After Tua won the NC with his arm in 2018, the transition to a League of Offense began in earnest. I think the B1G has been in dinosaur mode using bad weather as a crutch to refuse to change (I just saw an amateur YouTube video where a group of guys rated Ohio State as the best offense for 2024 primarily because of their "two amazing running backs), which culminated in them being the League of Defense (it takes 2 to tango, meaning they had bad offenses help make their defenses look better). Ohio State has been the lone driver of high powered offenses for a decade, but other teams just dismissed it as a talent advantage, not worth trying to replicate it. I think the addition of the West Coast teams' offensive aggression, the changes taking place at Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska, that 2024 will be the year the B1G begins changing to a League of Offense. If you can't score, you can't win against offenses that can't be stopped. This is the year those that haven't learned that will certainly learn it, and those that have seen the writing on the wall will be implementing necessary changes.

Oregon, Lanning TIED for No. 1 for 2024 Rivals Comprehensive Rankings! (High School & Portal Combined)
The stupid part about portal ranking is they really weigh how many years you have left. Since Dillon only has one year left he was rated lower than Dante Moore.

Who's Makin Bank, NIL $$$
Stewart has 2.4M followers?! Looks like that is worth a million in NIL all by itself, compared to Tez who is arguably going to be more popular to Ducks fans.

2024 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF - GIMME SEED NUMBER 5
I think the primary goal of the regular season for the Ducks is to play in the conference championship as that will get you through the first round one way or the other.

This Recruit IS Focused on NIL, and it is a Bidding War...
I understand your perspective, but I'm with Charles that I think the cup is half full. Nothing wrong with maximizing your current value after all the other boxes are checked.

Would B1G Fans Handle Getting "Ducked-Up" at Their Home Games?
I remember the home and home with Nebraska was fantastic for both fan bases, with them appreciating each other and wishing they could do it again. Now they get their wish.

Lanning's D Ready to Force Turnovers
I still feel like our 2019 Avalos defense was better than last years D. Maybe it wasn't and last year was offset by incredible QB play. I just remembered that in 2019 if it was 3rd and long it wàs a guarantee the opponent's offense wouldn't get a 1st down. Avalos was an impeccable play caller, with an amazing scheme, although too complex for noobs. I really miss him. Levitt was overrated and DeRyuter was hot garbage leftovers from Cal.

Twelve Ducks That Could Become Household Names This Year
I can't argue with this list, I think it is pretty good. I'm wondering about Pleasant possibly being one of those guys as a DB over one of the transfers/JCs but we'll see. It hadn't dawned on me that Payton Woodyard is actually a 2024 recruit, not a 2023 recruit, so he's a 100% true freshman without a spring camp at this point. We'll have to see if he is able to live up to his ratings in time.

Updated Full Article: Oregon AD Rob Mullens Says He 'Did Worry' Ducks Could Lose Dan Lanning to Alabama
First time I've noticed Lanning saying this will be his last job. Can you imagine what it would mean for the program to have Lanning for 30 more years? That kind of stretch as a relevant powerhouse football program, likely with a few national championships, would cement the Ducks as a true blue blood forever.

The Athletic: "I Have Seen the Future of College football, and it is DOMINATED by Ducks."
This actually extremely noteworthy if true. We just reset to the next generation of kids where "Oregon was my dream school growing up. I remember playing the game as the Ducks and always dominating." We've got as many as 12 years ahead now to cash in this check. We don't have to worry the recruits won't remember and idolize DAT and Mariota and James anymore with our current relevance, swag, and this video game.

OFF TOPICS: For Your Interest (3)
I thought about starting a new topic, but they aren't that important these days as the article makes clear to Husky fans: For Washington Football, Wednesday Turns Into Reality Check WWW.SI.COM We'll call this wake-up call Wednesday. With Season on the Horizon, Two Busy Weeks Upcoming for Oregon football
Fall camp starts on the 31st then our first game exactly a month later! This has felt the shortest off-season ever, although every year seems to go by faster than the last one the older I get.

Generation - O "Gang Green" Uniform
This is my favorite uni of all time. The GOAT. That is my thought. Why? I love the all green unis, and I love that it has both the O AND Puddles' bust on it. The old school yellow block letters with the white outline really pop too. Yeah it doesn't have wings, diamond plating, or eggshell textures, but if there is a traditional Oregon uni that would be timeless, this is it!

Lanning Did NOT Make Oregon Recruiting History Today with Rivals 5-Star DJ Pickett
Just yesterday I posted how I thought the late drama is bogus and they know where they are going all along. Maybe these kids are benefitting by make all sides reconsider their final NIL offer in the heat of the moment of the player's self imposed deadline, then just go with the highest bidder to a place you are confident will be great even if not your true top pick. And for all this, nothing is final either way until signing day.NIL offer can be changed and player can change their commitment.

Update! Crystal Balls to Oregon to Win Another 5-Star Battle...
It's hard to believe these discussions of last minute decision making around a self imposed deadline. There is zero benefit to doing that from the athletes perspective. Once they set a date they've made up their mind. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I think most of the time it is the recruiting media that fans the leftover coals to maximize eyeballs on their websites and subscription renewals.

Pac-2 Merger With Mountain West In Jeopardy?
Since they can kick the can to 2026 there is no reason for them to worry. I expect the ACC to become "The Conference of Leftovers" by then and would probably be willing to bring them into the fold. Not ideal for travel but 4 west coast teams could form a pod to mitigate that.

tosu Picked to Win the B1G in 2024
It's a pretty close match on paper, close enough that it is reasonable the game at Autzen is a tossup. But if we have to play OSU 3 times this year they should beat us more than not. A lot is TBD though with the change of QBs and Kelly as OC. Lanning's teams have typically made excellent improvements early in the season so playing OSU at the point in the season we do and having home gives us our best shot to win.

'Admit It, Oregon is BUYING Recruits'
The public also seems to ignore the most unique selling point for Oregon: Once your football career is finished, Nike will give you a nice white collar job if you want it. Basically we'll take care of you for life one way or another. It may not quite be a guarantee, but it's pretty close to one, and for top shelf recruits to hear "We've got you covered financially right now with NIL, we'll give you as good of a shot as anywhere to be developed to make the NFL later, and if that doesn't pan out or you pro career is semi short we'll get you a good job." Easy to sell the parents on that too!
