Kirby Smart: "We Got Better Players"
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
My stomach turned last Saturday when one of our d-backs was flexing and woofing after a wide open Georgia receiver dropped an easy catch. I think we were only down 28-3 when that bit of sportsmanship took place. -
At one point in the third quarter our d-line had that woeful look of "someone else is going to have to make a play because I'm tired of pushing". Not surprising to see Georgia convert 9 out of 10 third down conversions when there is so little apparent pressure from the defensive line.

Seems like right out of the shoots DL might have a culture problem. Effort looks mediocre at best.
-
Wow, defense seems lost. Surprised to say the least. I really thought with Lanning's previous accomplishments we would be better on that side of the ball.

Oregon Uniforms Revealed For Georgia Game
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Have to agree with Charles in always preferring "the rich color of green" in the photo he posted. However, if the Ducks do to Georgia what they did to the last reigning champions they played, I may have to rethink my preferences! -
Oregon Womens Basketball vs. Belmont Thread
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lady Ducks shot 21% from the floor that first quarter and 0% beyond the arc. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a L if that doesn't improve a bit. Go Ducks! -
Mens Basketball: Should They Accept an NIT Bid?
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Does anyone have an explanation for what happened to Will Richardson? He went from being Seth Curry like, wide array of shots and playmaking skills, Pac-12 Player of the Week, then O for 100 (or so it seems) when everything was in front of the team to play for. Absolutely baffling. -
50% from the line too!

Lanning Meets with Harrington: A Good Thing?
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Wasn’t Justin Herbert one of the aforementioned former players group? Can’t imagine any possible advantage to stonewalling former players that include gems like him. Seems like sort of a package deal. I say invite them along for the ride. -
Don't we have a 5 star recruit in town this weekend? He has to be narrowing his list of schools by at least one after today!

NIT bound at this rate.

2022 Oregon Game Predictions: Fun Read
John Charles replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We also had a coaching staff that was MIA. -
Canzano Does NOT Like Dana's Bigs...
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just watched a You Tube video on Bill Walton. I wanted to recall what good post play looked like. You may not like his commentating, but the guy put on a clinic of how Big's should play: Intimidating presence inside, timing his shot blocking attempts without fouling or over committing, nice array of moves and shots around the rim, and best of all, a master at distributing the ball to his teammates. Where has that kind of inside presence gone? -
Heart in the Huntsman: Oregon Holds on to Beat Utah
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Our bigs are baffling. JC's article in the O summs up my feelings on Oregon's big men: The bigs are absent. Weren't these guys 4 & 5 star recruits out of h.s.? How is that they now appear to have difficulty not traveling or turning the ball over when they touch it? Why has a simple kick out pass when double teamed become a non-option? Baffling. -
Florence wants to "See the Love," Duck Fans.
John Charles replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Would it be more acceptable if he said, "Hey, it will be great to see all you Duck fans at the game!" Why so much negativity attributed to words that you may be entirely misinterpreting? Maybe we need to heed our own advice! -
Uh-Oh...Grumblings Begin with Miami's Mario Cristobal
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Being manhandled by Utah twice in three weeks with superior athletes and so much on the line should have caused someone to hit the pause button. Oh well, you get what you pay for...or is it you get what you deserve? -
USC Back on Top Much Sooner Than Thought?
John Charles replied to Just Ducky's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"If he gets his quarterback game over." I would say, "If he gets his quarterback, game on!" Bryce Young is a pretty good quarterback, he was surrounded by top rung talent, and Lanning's defense did a decent job making a game of it. Not as if he'll be out of his league with SC. -
Couple of questions come to mind: 1. Was SC that depleted of running backs that they had a wide open door for Dye and Jones from Stanford? 2. Is SC and Riley a hotter commodity than Lanning and Oregon?

Mario Cristobal REJECTED by Another OC Candidate at Miami
John Charles replied to McDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
OC Job Interview: MC: You have a 1 point lead with just a few seconds to burn to win the game. You are on your own 2-yard line. The only way you possibly lose the game is to hike the ball into the end zone and get tackled for a safety. Do you: A. Line up under center to minimize the risk of a safety B. Line the quarterback up in the shotgun formation and hike the ball into the end-zone OC Candidate: Obviously the answer is B. You line up in the shot gun, preferably the pistol formation, because that is who we are. It's our identity. MC: Hired! When can you start? -
New Oregon S&C Coach Coming from Ole Miss?
John Charles replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Given the unprecedented number injuries this year, and the way we were dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage by Utah, chances are this is yet another upgrade to our program. -
Moorhead: "Anthony has had a Phenomenal Season"
John Charles replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Love to sit in a film room with Moorhead and listen to him discuss film of AB with a decent QB's coach. -
"I agree. I thought this was Mario's best on field coaching moment. Putting showboating before the team should always be met with a coaches wrath. I also the he handled it well and went on to become one of the few bright spots on offense the rest of the season." Can't entirely agree with this assessment of MC's meltdown. Watch the video again. It's one thing to seize the moment and correct a player, its quite another to throw a temper tantrum (throwing head set to the ground, almost spitting in a young man's face, etc.) It looked like public humiliation and intimidation to me, rather than a teaching moment. If that is an example of MC's best on field coaching moment, what do the bad ones look like?

Herbstreit Asked Mario About The Miami Job In October!
John Charles replied to Haywarduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Reasons Miami is not a step up or even a lateral move from Oregon: 1. Obvious downgrade in facilities 2. NIL/Nike opportunities for athletes 3. Recent history of success: Oregon 2 National Championship Games, Multiple Rose Bowl victories, multiple Pac-12 Championships (Miami during same time span?) 4. 2104 Heisman Trophy Winner (Marcus Mariota) 5. 2019 Outland Trophy Winner (Penai Sewell) Those would be a few reasons that come to mind.
