  1. Lady Ducks shot 21% from the floor that first quarter and 0% beyond the arc. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a L if that doesn't improve a bit. Go Ducks!
  2. Does anyone have an explanation for what happened to Will Richardson? He went from being Seth Curry like, wide array of shots and playmaking skills, Pac-12 Player of the Week, then O for 100 (or so it seems) when everything was in front of the team to play for. Absolutely baffling.
  3. Wasn’t Justin Herbert one of the aforementioned former players group? Can’t imagine any possible advantage to stonewalling former players that include gems like him. Seems like sort of a package deal. I say invite them along for the ride.
  4. Don't we have a 5 star recruit in town this weekend? He has to be narrowing his list of schools by at least one after today!
  5. Just watched a You Tube video on Bill Walton. I wanted to recall what good post play looked like. You may not like his commentating, but the guy put on a clinic of how Big's should play: Intimidating presence inside, timing his shot blocking attempts without fouling or over committing, nice array of moves and shots around the rim, and best of all, a master at distributing the ball to his teammates. Where has that kind of inside presence gone?
  6. Our bigs are baffling. JC's article in the O summs up my feelings on Oregon's big men: The bigs are absent. Weren't these guys 4 & 5 star recruits out of h.s.? How is that they now appear to have difficulty not traveling or turning the ball over when they touch it? Why has a simple kick out pass when double teamed become a non-option? Baffling.
  7. Calling it irresponsible journalism seems kind. Maybe we should borrow a tactic from the Wannabes up north and defuse the hostility with a little humor!
  8. Would it be more acceptable if he said, "Hey, it will be great to see all you Duck fans at the game!" Why so much negativity attributed to words that you may be entirely misinterpreting? Maybe we need to heed our own advice!
  9. Being manhandled by Utah twice in three weeks with superior athletes and so much on the line should have caused someone to hit the pause button. Oh well, you get what you pay for...or is it you get what you deserve?
  10. "If he gets his quarterback game over." I would say, "If he gets his quarterback, game on!" Bryce Young is a pretty good quarterback, he was surrounded by top rung talent, and Lanning's defense did a decent job making a game of it. Not as if he'll be out of his league with SC.
  11. Couple of questions come to mind: 1. Was SC that depleted of running backs that they had a wide open door for Dye and Jones from Stanford? 2. Is SC and Riley a hotter commodity than Lanning and Oregon?
  12. OC Job Interview: MC: You have a 1 point lead with just a few seconds to burn to win the game. You are on your own 2-yard line. The only way you possibly lose the game is to hike the ball into the end zone and get tackled for a safety. Do you: A. Line up under center to minimize the risk of a safety B. Line the quarterback up in the shotgun formation and hike the ball into the end-zone OC Candidate: Obviously the answer is B. You line up in the shot gun, preferably the pistol formation, because that is who we are. It's our identity. MC: Hired! When can you start?
  13. Given the unprecedented number injuries this year, and the way we were dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage by Utah, chances are this is yet another upgrade to our program.
  14. Love to sit in a film room with Moorhead and listen to him discuss film of AB with a decent QB's coach.
  15. "I agree. I thought this was Mario's best on field coaching moment. Putting showboating before the team should always be met with a coaches wrath. I also the he handled it well and went on to become one of the few bright spots on offense the rest of the season." Can't entirely agree with this assessment of MC's meltdown. Watch the video again. It's one thing to seize the moment and correct a player, its quite another to throw a temper tantrum (throwing head set to the ground, almost spitting in a young man's face, etc.) It looked like public humiliation and intimidation to me, rather than a teaching moment. If that is an example of MC's best on field coaching moment, what do the bad ones look like?
  16. Reasons Miami is not a step up or even a lateral move from Oregon: 1. Obvious downgrade in facilities 2. NIL/Nike opportunities for athletes 3. Recent history of success: Oregon 2 National Championship Games, Multiple Rose Bowl victories, multiple Pac-12 Championships (Miami during same time span?) 4. 2104 Heisman Trophy Winner (Marcus Mariota) 5. 2019 Outland Trophy Winner (Penai Sewell) Those would be a few reasons that come to mind.
  17. Follow the leader. Perhaps that letter from former players was more spot on than we want to admit. Right now any sense of an Oregon identity appears to be hemorrhaging. The programs not dealing with this reality should consider themselves fortunate.
  18. However flawed, he will view Anthony Brown as his best chance to cut loose on offense, and I cannot help but wonder if that freedom on offense might not trickle down to the quarterback give him the confidence to go-for-it? Would truly love to see this happen, but AB's inability to see the field makes me doubt that it will. AB had many opportunities to "operate more freely" on downfield routes, especially in third and long situations, and he appears to be incapable of seeing routes develop or to anticipate receivers coming open. Much as I hope otherwise, I don't see this changing in the last game of his 5-year career.
  19. I fully expect Oregon vs Utah Part III. 3rd and 12. AB dumps off a 3 yard pass to a double covered receiver. Punt the ball. This one will be over before the 1st quarter. Maybe Sooner!
  20. Great hire! I'd imagine guys like Noah Sewell, Justin Flowe, Keith Brown, etc. would agree. Lanning is a defensive guru. Look at GA's opponents scores over the 3 years he has been the DC. Hire a good OC coordinator and this is a home run hire. Watch the recruiting class regain traction in the coming days for immediate verification. Bring on the Jim's & Joes, cause Lanning knows X's & O's!
  21. Great hire. We'll see the impact immediately with the early signing period. Hiring a top notch OC with in game management skills who recruits well makes this a home run! Gotta believe guys like Sewell and Flowe are whooping it up right now. Great to be a Duck. Let the good times roll!
  22. Bad luck certainly played a part in denying the Ducks the National Championship in 2015. If Mariota, the best college football player in the country that year, had even a couple of his better receivers, I'm convinced we win it all vs. Ohio State. Before the season started, Bralon Addison goes out with a torn ACL. In November, the Ducks lose their best tight end Pharaoh Brown to a gruesome leg injury vs. Utah. Despite losing speedy wide receiver Devon Allen on the opening kick-off of the semi-final playoff game at the Rose Bowl to a torn ACL, Oregon annihilates an FSU team that hadn't lost a game in 2 years. Mariota's featured receiver in that game was Darren Carrington, who had 7 receptions for 169 yards. And the week leading up to the Natty? Darren Carrington failed an NCAA administered drug test and did not make the trip to Texas. Bleacher Report summed it up well: "Wide receiver Darren Carrington, perhaps Oregon's hottest offensive weapon, has been suspended after failing an NCAA-administered drug test and did not travel with the team to Texas. Now, without Carrington, who has 37 catches for 704 yards and four touchdowns this season, Oregon's wide receiver corps is very thin. The Ducks have been fighting an uphill battle all season long in terms of depth across their receiving corps. Oregon lost its most prolific returning receiver, Bralon Addison, in April to an ACL tear. In November, against Utah, the Ducks lost their best tight end, Pharaoh Brown, to a gruesome leg injury. Most recently, Oregon's most reliable and fastest receiver, Devon Allen, was lost for the year after injuring his knee on the opening kick of the Rose Bowl." I can't deny it, luck most definitely plays a part in winning a national championship, and bad luck most likely cost us one in 2015.
