  1. August 2nd will be here before we know it.
  2. After an extensive bathing to get rid of that Beavis stench
  3. Calipari once took UMASS to the Final Four. He turned Memphis into a National power, should've won a title in '08. So the guy can coach, but he got caught up with stacking McDonalds All Americans. He won on title in '12 , and had that undefeated season in '15 before losing to Wisconsin in the Final Four. Since then it's been losses to double digit seeds. The formula for winning is now having experience. Guys with two kids and a mortgage payment. Coach Cal just can't get past this fact. Just hit the transfer portal Cal, pay the established guys not wanting to be one and dones. Kentucky to Arkansas is a step down. That tells me this wasn't 100 percent his choice.
  4. Very good points sir. Remember when Kirk Ferentz making four million a year was big news? The amount of money changing hands in college football is insane. It truly is becoming the NFL Lite. Just switch out transfer portal for free agency in wording. I'm glad we have a young energetic coach. Could you imagine Joe Paterno coaching in this era?
  5. I wouldn't call a financial agreement that both parties entered into voluntarily, where the party performing duties for compensation , servitude. But you are correct in that there is a buyout. It gets negotiated down usually, but yes it gets worked out. I wouldn't want to keep a guy who doesn't want to be around anymore. It's toxic. I'm not able to put into words what my point is. Probably why I never went into marketing or law school. But there has always been a double standard to enforcement when it comes to amateur athletics. The coaches, institutions, and television networks could make millions. But a freshman couldn't receive a meal or board. I find it interesting how coaches making millions could object to their players getting compensated, especially in football. The portal needs to have guidelines though. That's my point. You and Jon have made very good points, and illustrated them better than me. College football has changed, and I'm trying to just enjoy seeing Oregon getting to that next level. Which is happening, so I'm gonna let the powers that be worry about the logistics.
  6. Getting the government involved never goes well. We already don't know where our taxes go. Well that's not entirely true. Billionaire owners apparently need tax levies to keep their businesses afloat, build stadiums etc.. What I mean by enforce is to have to honor the paper you signed. The coaches don't pay those buyouts usually. There's always some proviso involved in their new teams contract. But why should Dabo, Jimbo, Lincoln, or Deboer not be held to their commitment?
  7. I'm afraid Mullens suffers from Superior Duck guilt. The administrators won't tell the truth because of political nonsense. Oregon did the state dirty evidently. They forgot that they had to not only walk little brother to class, but also make sure they don't get picked last in dodgeball, get their lunch for them, and take notes for them in class. They're brothers after all.
  8. I want to like Deion, but he is acting more like Lamar Ball everyday. Saying he's going to pull an Eli with his son, but take it further with all his draft capable players. Hall of Fame player. Hasn't proved anything as a coach though. If I were in position to pick his guys, I wouldn't touch them until round five. Play around with the pros, see where it gets you.
  9. Seems fitting. Their fans are probably calling this a game changer. Probably still deluding themselves into thinking Oregon should have pushed for their inclusion to make the move to the Big Ten. Package deal, after all they did it for USC with UCLA.
  10. LBS: A mental disease that stems from severe delusion. Some claim it is a genetic disease passed down from Beaver to Beaver. There is a sensory delay, one that blinds the eye from seeing how atrocious the brownish orange sunglasses shade them from reality. Dr. PuddleMaker has tried to determine the placement of the defective brain anomaly, but has been unable to determine it's whereabouts. It may be the frontal cerebral cortex, or their brains may actually be located in another area of the body. Beavers look like they are feeling the result of digestive failure, but claim it's a pain equivalent to what we call a headache. Perhaps that is a sign of their brain's location. There is nothing that can be done for those suffering LBS. Just smile and back away slowly. They will lash out without warning, green seems to be a trigger. Be safe folks, LBS is widespread in the Pacific Northwest.
  11. For a while we thought Clemson and Dabo would take that next step. Dabo has regressed with this new NIL ruling. Five years ago it was assumed Dabo would be next in line when Nick retired. The question we must ask is if there was any real interest from either side before Alabama hired DeBoer. I don't think we'll have another run like Nick did. It's going to be too hard to win the gauntlet every year with expanded playoff. Plus roster attrition, coaches leaving for NFL gigs as it becomes harder to maintain a championship roster. You not only have to recruit new guys, but now you gotta recruit your current guys. You won't be able to stack guys like you could just five years ago. If you recruit an elite QB every year, chances are the guy you choose to be the guy will hold that down for two years. You'll lose the redshirt freshman, along with the true freshman during that time. The game is just getting out of control. Alabama lost their five star lineman Procter to his home State Iowa, only to get him back a few weeks later. The kid signed up officially with Iowa, just to change his mind because teenagers shockingly don't exactly have everything figured out. I hope the powers that be find a way to put some guidelines in place. That goes for coaches as well. Coaches never honor their agreements, but get angry when players decide to do the same. Which brings me back full circle to Dabo Sweeney. A guy making close to ten million a year, he gets angry because his job got harder because of NIL and the T.P.
  12. Thanks. I can't think of a cooler image than Puddles on the motorcycle. That article brought up a good point though. Is Benny a mad beaver? We all know how the Beavis fans are. Puddles is a bachelor, but Benny has some darkness behind that bucktooth grin.
  13. I think Oregon is viewed as "new money". Oregon prior to probably Akili Smith wasn't seen much higher than the two left behinds. Plus we still need a championship to punctuate Oregon is all grown up. It also doesn't help that for the longest time, we didn't have that one single look. When you see Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee , Florida State, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Penn State, Nebraska. You recognize them. What look do most people see and say "That's Oregon" ? Our Feathered Wings look is awesome, but not iconic. But what's great is that in ten years, if we keep winning. It will become iconic. The Miami Hurricanes were once seen as "new money". But they earned their place with three decades of winning. They won five championships in that span. Give us a few years in the Big Ten, cultivate real rivalries with Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska. People in the eastern time zone will get to know Puddles very well. I'd like an article ranking the top ten mascots, see where Puddles rates.
  14. Was Dan supposed to cry, curl up in a ball and talk about what a big loss this was? Locklyn did what was best for him. More money with the same amount of resources talent wise. Dan has to do what's best for his program. If you aren't looking to get better, you'll find somebody else around you will.
  15. See April 1st isn't the only day Oregon State reporters are fools. It's a yearlong thing with them. They keep up the act all year, their readers are just in the dark about that secret.
  16. What a world man. Ten years ago we wouldn't likely know who Locklyn was. A RB coach, not a coordinator. But today we know the salary it takes to poach him. Charles is correct when he speaks on the playbook being inconsequential. After all, if you are making at least half a million a year coaching, you should know what an inside or outside read is. You should know zone blocking or what RPO means. A RB coach isn't dialing up plays in game anyway. He is doing the coaching all week. Footwork, ball handling, learning audibles. Reading defensive positioning to determine if the linebacker is coming in to rush or dropping out to cover. It's not knowing the playbook that got Michigan in trouble. It's about knowing the signs. They had scouts go to other games with equipment to spy on signs. These guys were paid to do this. Harbaugh knows Day's playbook. What he shouldn't have known was the signs to signal the exact timing of those plays.
  17. Any update on the Big Ten holding the championship game anywhere but Indy? If this is going to be a National landscape conference, they should have alternate sites. Especially if Florida State and Clemson join up in a couple years. As far as the question goes, it would shock me. USC is in for a culture shock, because Lincoln has a style built for the Big Twelve, or the now defunct Pac Twelve. Talented squad, but it takes a while to integrate toughness. I like their new DC though. He has the chance to do what Knowles has done at Ohio State. But it'll take more than one off-season imo.
  18. Last year I went on one of their message sites, probably February. I saw a thread started back in October 2022. It was a poll asking what it would take for Oregon State to allow USC back into the conference. Some responses were two for ones, never ever, and my favorite "Kiss every butt up and down the coast, then giving up five years of revenue. They must be on their knees!!!". So USC was going to give up their new 75 million a year, all while breaking the new grant of rights deal with their new league. All so they can lose home games as a penance, and giving whatever revenue they have left after not getting their 75 million, to the true heros. These people are truly business graduates from the Kim Jong Un academy of deities.
  19. They have enough stolen funds to last a few years, but they'll probably waste it in stupid branding for a dead conference. That or online bonds for a Russian knockoff McDonald's
  20. April 2nd 2023. What was going on? Well I think most of us were wondering how Lanning would do in year 2. Probably questioning when a media deal would be announced. Did anybody see the league essentially folding in four months? Now let's look ahead to April 2nd 2025. Hopefully you and your are in good health, and happy. But how will we look at Lanning post season 3? How will our sports programs look after moving to the Big Ten. My prediction is pretty good. Maybe even our first conference(Big Ten) and National Titles.
  21. * Because they're victims. The other meanies got tired of playing in the alley with the broken glass strewn everywhere. But lil Beavie & Cougie didn't get invited because they never pitched in for snacks, or equipment. But why should they? They're just poor victims that have been held down under the thumb of their bigger brothers. Ones who had an obligation to protect them..... * HEAVY SARCASM
  22. There are a contingent of people who root for every in state school, as long as they're not playing their designated favorite. There are graduates of one school, but a sports fan of another. There's no guidebook for being a "real" fan. But I would say for myself, that it's one program. Oregon State used to recruit for the same guys as Oregon. Now the two aren't in the same tier, but the bragging rights still exist. Duke fans relish North Carolina losses on the hard court. Miami fans would never pull for FSU. Same goes for Texas and Texas A&M. I'm inline with these people. I grew up around Ohio State fans, none of them care to see Cincy win at all. Michigan fans look down at MSU. Auburn fans vs Alabama fans is on another level. So enjoy sports how you want. Don't worry about having your Duck card pulled. Just don't expect others to follow the path, and expect some ribbing.
  23. Kind of shocked Chun didn't get the gig in his home State. Well he's going to the Big Ten anyway. If the reporter had the chance to move up, he'd take it. But like Washington State, he's not wanted by better companies. Winners learn from losses, come back stronger to punch the other dude into the ground. Losers cry, they whine and make excuses. Waiting for somebody to handicap the competition before squaring back up. Washington State and Oregon State are betas.
  24. Can Oregon just get out of this waste of space already? It's like buying into a nice area, but you have to stay in your old crap neighborhood for a designated amount of time. Meanwhile you have to forfeit your earnings to the two idiots in the two worst houses because they have nowhere else to go. Let's just go to the crappy motel (independence) until our new house (Big Ten) is ready to move into. Get the leeches off already. What a freaking joke of a league. The ACC is suing each other, and their league hides their conference bylaws like it's the book of secrets, but they are still better run than this crap show. How anybody can still feel sorry for Beavis and Coughead is beyond me at this point. They suck!!! Literally, they are sucking the blood of programs like Oregon. Cancel that series with Oregon State. Don't give them the biggest gate every other year.. Cut them off, make them improve without financial help from Oregon.
  25. Purdue is a beatable one seed, see last year. Of course Virginia won a title the year following their historic loss. But is there a team that you say is unbeatable? It just seems like you don't have Goliath's anymore. I mean just in the last 19 years we've seen more mid majors make the Final Four than the fifty years before. George Mason Butler(twice) Wichita State Loyola Gonzaga(twice) Florida Atlantic San Diego State You can say Gonzaga isn't a mid major, but they play in a mid major conference. You've had Texas Tech play for the Title, had Baylor and Virginia win titles for the first time in their history. Meanwhile UCLA hasn't won one since the 90's. It's just different. Get hot and you can win it all. Oregon is very hot.
