  1. Should he pursue a change in his base defense now to try and leverage the talent he has to elevate this team to National Championship caliber? Or should he stay the course and wait for his players to develop and emerge in the Lanning defense the way it is meant to be played? Of the two options, I'll take the former, believing a coach is always going to be better maximizing the talent on hand, not forcing them into his scheme. In time, as the talent pool deepens, adjustments, always a key in effective coaching, can be made.
  2. SIDEARM Integrations GODUCKS.COM Ducks visit Michigan State Thursday (3 p.m. PT, Big Ten Network).
  3. Oregon vs. UCLA prediction, pick, college basketball odds CLUTCHPOINTS.COM The Ducks visit the Bruins as we continue our college basketball odds series with an Oregon-UCLA prediction and pick.
  4. Let's hope the Ducks make him really miserable tomorrow, they will be the more rested team.
  5. Okay, wait a minute, the writer didn't forget Oregon, I think it's just a confusing sentence. The "they" isn't referring to Ohio State, it is a collective "they," including Oregon, Michigan, and whoever won the B1G the two years before that, it wasn't osu2.
  6. What is it with writers forgetting about Oregon? "In choosing his team for the Big Ten, Connelly opted for a program that hasn't won the conference championship in nearly a decade. He believes the Penn State Nittany Lions will bounce back from their College Football Playoff semifinal loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and capture the Big Ten title for the first time since 2016. Connelly's strategy for selecting the Big Ten winner is to choose the best team other than Ohio State, as they have won four consecutive Big Ten titles, and he prefers not to bet against a streak."
  7. UCLA and USC did leave, because of TV, TV that the Pac-12 wasn't going to get enough interest, $$ from to exist. Complaining to the UCLA administration now would be the epitome of beating a dead horse; Cronin is the embodiment of "don't shoot the messenger" here, but I didn't see where he was wrong in anything he said.
  8. That is a glaring Omission.
  9. I'd love to hear from a Badger believer. Penn State, come on down! Minnesota, that will sting for a while, but the Golden Gophers played a great game. Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, I'd love to hear a take on Cig. It is harder to remember all the teams in the B1G, having posts from their fans would make that easier.
  10. I do think he's right about TV being at an unprecedented level in sports now. It was the major factor in the demise of the Pac-12, whose identity to a lot of the country was "Pac-12 After Dark". ESPN, on it's ridiculous TV Reveal Show during the CFP pleads for chaos, for entertainment. Time slots are crucial for games, if it's inconvenient, even a true hardship on one of the teams, that's irrelevant. ESPN tried to whitewash the negative talk about the CFP, citing its "Blueblood Final 4". Unfortunately for them, the ratings were down. But, the format will be the same next season, and the "Reveal Show" will be entertaining as we all watch to see which teams end up in the coveted 5 and 6 seeds.
  11. It's not a great QB class, maybe Gabriel can go in the 6th round, that has worked out. I'm encouraged by some buzz around Tez, he's perfect for this time in the NFL. One of the teams that seems to be pointing for him is Denver. Imagine how many NFL fans haven't heard about the Bo-Tez connection?
  12. The Houston Astros stealing signs is by far the worst to me. The worst part is that the commissioner purposefully left the players out of the investigation, no punishment whatsoever, Altuve holding his jersey tight is an indelible stain on their "championships".
  13. Yeah, "poetic justice" still doesn't fit, but in 2014, osu2 did win with their 3rd string QB; they were spared "poetic justice" this time by the botched format benefitting the L's to Oregon and Michigan and making them champion instead of a 3 loss team.
  14. I agree that UM has looked bad during this whole process. As far as vacating wins? Taking them out of the books is real, but Ohio State didn't win the games now. Reggie Bush did win the Heisman, that apparently has been resolved now. Will UM still be the winningest?
  15. I think that's wrong too. In fact, I think the Baseball HOF is completely messed up, far too many inductees, and only 1 unanimous, certainly worthy, Mariano Rivera, Ichiro was just voted in, I vote short of unanimous. Willie Mays wasn't unanimous, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, and worse than that I think is the players who get in after numerous, sometimes 10 votes. There are currently 278 players, I think that's at least 100 too many.
  16. Again, who cares? 10-18 means you dominate the Pop Tart Bowl and other ones played in mid-December
  17. Interesting you say that, a few years ago, there was this guy who would show up on TV and radio touting his "foolproof" formula for betting, and seriously, it was "The team with the best players and coaches will most often win". As far as best teams, the Steelers in the 70's get my vote, at the time I was a Cowboys fan, I really didn't like it when they beat Dallas twice, by 4 points. But those teams were loaded, defense is practically all in the hall of fame, and the offense, Bradshaw is probably not even a Top 10, but I don't remember many missed passes or INT's and Stallworth & Swann, are my pick as No.1 WR's, and of course RB's, Rocky Blier and Franco Harris.
  18. Yeah, your dad and me would have definitely been on different sides in '72, I was cheering for "The Big Red Machine against Boston in '75.
  19. “Ohio State is a worthy champion,” McElroy stated, following the Buckeyes’ victory. “I think it’s even more impressive to think what this team had to overcome, and to know that had the four-team Playoff been in place, they would not have made it. It is poetic justice that the 12-team Playoff came to existence this year. “Think about how many times in the four-team Playoff era Ohio State was this close. Excuse me? It's time Ohio State won a championship???? What they had to overcome?
  20. It was universal, the only pushback was from ESPN, Herbie, "Look at the Final 4!". The ratings said a lot of people weren't impressed. That hurts ESPN, but not Commish's, even the B1G did alright, Osu2 and Penn State got the benefit, newcomer Oregon got hosed. Big 12 thought it was great.
  21. I'll have Danno and the Ducks No.1 until they're eliminated, Sark No.2, Kelly No.3, Freeman No.4, DeBoer No.5 Moore No.6, Franklin No.7.
  22. I always like playing the away game first, and UCLA has gone through more highs and lows than the Ducks have, Minnesota was a big B1G low. Everything about the team was its best in the tournament when they beat Alabama. The ebbs and flows are there. When the team starts out so great, the ebbs are harder to take. Hopefully, Angel & Bamba keep going and Bittle, Shelstad and the rest will join them in Pauley.
