  1. We all remember the big story last year. FSU was going great, until their quarterback went down. The argument wasn't whether it affected the team or not, everybody agreed it would. The argument was did that make any difference. The answer ultimately was that FSU without their quarterback was not the team that had played so well all season, so they were out. This year, Georgia lost their quarterback before the Playoffs started. Not only was Georgia not dropped from the Playoffs, they moved up to No.2, that was mainly due to Oregon beating previous No,2, Penn State, but still, the biggest discussion was whether Alabama or SMU should get the last spot. There was no thought that Georgia, who had not had nearly as dominant a season as FSU had, should still be in, without their quarterback. Why was there no questioning about Georgia's viability?
  2. It will be hard, but I don't see a team more likely to do it, especially not the 4 teams that will have to win 4 straight games.
  3. My takeaway regarding Oregon, Three of the first 5 games are against power conference opponents and a 5th against rival Oregon State, still a quality opponent at this juncture. They are Conference Champion.
  4. That is unfortunate for the QB, the upside is that Franklin isn't happy about it.
  5. This guy will be there, won't he?
  6. Osu2 fans aren't even travelling that well to a homefield Playoff game. Tennessee fans set to invade Ohio State for CFP home game, ticket data shows WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM Tennessee fans are looking to make The Horseshoe feel like Neyland come Saturday.
  7. I'm thinking of the Olympics, the 100 meters. Usain Bolt statistically had the same chance of winning than any of the other racers. Of course that didn't take into account how much faster Bolt was, he'd be looking over his head at everybody else with 10 meters to go. The Ducks aren't Bolt, but they've separated themselves from the field.
  8. Very true, how's Indiana's SOS or SOR look compared to other teams in the CFP, or left out? How many Quad 1 wins did the Hoosiers rack up? Alabama did lose to Vandy and Oklahoma & Tennessee, but their SOS, SOR and Quad 1 wins were all superior to Indiana's.
  9. I think it's more likely that this, "emerging superpower" is more likely to finish 4-8 than 8-4.
  10. And this is what's wrong with statistics. Whatever the odds are, I don't think it's Homer-speak to say that the probability of OBD winning the Natty are a lot higher than at least 8 of the other teams, and better than the other 3, The statistical percentages, without weighing in the relative strengths of the teams, is pointless.
  11. I think this is Bo's most impressive act.
  12. The weekly Reveal Show has to go. It's emblematic of the E in ESPN standing for Entertainment, that is if that many people are really entertained by Booger McFarland, Joey Galloway and Greg McElroy arguing, Herbie doesn't do the show anymore, or Rece Davis asking the Committee Chairman questions that are answered always in the vaguest way possible. Besides being only money makers, I think the CCG's should be eliminated because at best they're redundant, at worst they devalue the success of the regular season. Oregon went through the B1G regular season undefeated. Penn State had a loss. Oregon is the conference champion. The model for a Playoff is right there to see in "March Madness" and it works with 68 teams. The No. 8 or 9 team No.1 plays really is an 8 or 9 team. Conference champions all get in, but sometimes they're a No.12 or 13 or 14. They're in, but their value isn't over inflated. It really shouldn't be that hard.
  13. This could be why Colorado finished out of contention in the big 12, they didn't have anybody better to play WR or Corner.
  14. I understand the thought, and there is no "I in this team". But we saw how vital Tez was when he wasn't there. A little obvious now, but OBD don't beat Penn State without him.
  15. Prime and Colorado got more attention last year than the Ducks did. I'll stick with ironic that Sanders was offended with Lanning's, "We play for wins, they play for clicks". This season, Lanning has made his case for being the best coach in the country, but "I win, Google me" got more attention. Unless you were a Duck fan, you probably didn't know who the QB of the undefeated Oregon team was. I wouldn't have traded Tez for any receiver in the country. If the All America voters actually watched him play, and didn't just look at the stats, he'd have been higher. How about Harmon, the play against osu2 wasn't alone for him, he was disruptive all season. It was easy for the talking heads to chortle on about the "Finesse Ducks" on Pac-12 After Dark. But now? They just steamrolled the B1G and there's nothing to say?
  16. I know the hype isn't his fault, Prime is his coach after all, but the Heisman pose pic I used in the post wasn't the only one, there were a lot to choose from. Playing 2 positions is impressive, but as Steven A pointed out, look at what Warren did at Penn State! Warren is an incredible talent, at multiple positions, but until Oregon played Penn State, I had barely heard of him. That is ridiculous. Hunter was on a team that finished out of contention for the Big 12, we've all noticed that Oregon, the most dominant team all year is pretty much anonymous. Dillon Gabriel had to do a lot more to get noticed than lead Oregon to a unanimous No.1?
  17. Two if's...if I'd been a Heisman voter, my Votes would have been Gabriel, Warren, Jeanty. Warren scared me every time Penn State had the ball, yes, they had him line up everywhere!
  18. That really is a statement. Mahomes sells!! If Dillon Gabriel was on the cover, not many would give it a thought, nuch less buy the magazine. It's just another note that as dominant OBD has been this season, and I definitely take the glass half full on this, it's not news that Oregon won again. The Ducks have been on the cover though.
  19. Based on what I heard on the TV and radio last night, that's apparently not even up for debate. He won the award for best defensive player, for best receiver, of course he won the Heisman. But does that make him the GOAT? It's hypothetical, but it's a fact that Oregon wouldn't have had a better season if Hunter had been on the team instead of Tez and Niko Reed.
  20. Currently, Justin Herbert is 6'6 236, and everybody says faster than he looks.
  21. I've seen people, actually know some, as all of you do, who don't follow sports at all, OBD included. I know, it makes no sense to me. For one thing following the Ducks tells me what to wear a couple of days a week. I do follow the NFL but yesterday wasn't good. The Lovable Lions from Detroit were off to their best start, but lost to the Bills, and 3 starters to injuries, for the season. The Lions have lost 13 players, including DT Asa Hutchinson, who might be back in time for the Super Bowl, alas, the Lions probably won't be involved. The Chargers won't be, they got blitzed 40-17 by Tampa Bay. Bo Nix and the Broncos beat Indy 31-13. Of course, the Basketball Ducks will have us watching them deep into "March Madness"

  23. Great article, Alex, and welcome, Dillon, (always good to have one on the roster). It shouldn't come as a surprise that Chess Master Lanning has successfully mixed Recruiting and portal acquisitions to construct the roster of OBD. As Charles noted weeks ago, 19 starters on this year's team will be gone next season. For Oregon to remain dominant in the B1G, a reload was needed, not a rebuild. The mix of recruit/portal the Ducks have used will become the new normal for teams that want to compete for championships. Just like Chip revolutionized the way the game is played, Oregon under: Lanning is the blueprint for sustaining championship level rosters.
  24. That is great news. The Ducks didn't take a lot of shots, 25-49, 51%. 7-19, 38% on 3's, Angel was 4-5, 1-2 on FT's 15 points to lead the team. The Lumberjacks out rebounded the Ducks, 36-34, and offensive rebounds was 19-13. Part of that was because SFA shot 25-63, 39.7%
