Lanning’s Bulldog Defense: I’m Impressed, Are You?
woundedknees replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Be nice to see more of this, except with real tackling... The Hybrid BullDuck style. You know the one: Wrap up the ball carrier's legs, so he hits the ground? I never could understand the point of jumping on the opponents back for a piggy back ride... -
snorting! Begs the question... Which team has honored their mascot the best, performance wise, for the last 30 years? For that matter, assuming a real husky had the ability to rationally make their own choices, which team would they consider offensive enough to DEMAND change their designated mascot choice?

Caleb Williams Does Not 'COMMIT' TO Oklahoma
woundedknees replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
From what I saw last night, a healthy Oregon 2 deep D should have been able to put serious pressure on Williams all night. He's the real deal, but when Oregon defense put pressure on him, the accuracy became suspect. -
I've Been Busting AB's Chops All Year...
woundedknees replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I was never a qb growing up... My sum total experience is pickup games and messing around with neighborhood kids who for some odd reason think it's cooler to hang out with Oompah than their own families. What bothers me is knowing that at 68 years old, with a throwing range limited by a past dislocation, I have better form and accuracy on passes under 20 yards, than what we often witnessed from a veteran D1 (really?) QB in his sixth season. Who was his qb whisperer, and why was he asleep at the wheel? -
Duck Fan Frustration: NOW we See the Deep Ball?
woundedknees replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Did anyone else notice the (former) Oregon coaches in the booth dancing and laughing during the second half? It almost looked like a celebration of relief at having the shackles removed -
I'll join you in that toast... I'm not a drinking man but I felt like the first half was more of a "Staight Tequila Night". The second half offense deserves a somewhat more refined libation.

Resulted in literally nothing for the Ducks... Thanks to the refs. DEFENSE: VMIII's fight for the fumble recovery. Heart, fighting (Duck) spirit to the bitter end. OFFENSE: A freshman receiver shoved out of bounds, diving back on the field to try securing the reception. (Seriously, NO PI?) If that effort doesn't ignite your inner Fightin' Duck, what does? BTW, the SILENCE from the review booth in this game was astounding, especially after suffering through the stifling, nitpicking, game changing carnival that was PAC12 officiating this season.

Lanning Closing In on a Running Backs Coach...
woundedknees replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Sounds as if the Ducks may need a daycare stipend in their contracts... Several of these coaches have young families. Interesting this guy has been a successful HS OC, but the fact he also acted as a weight room assistant while at Memphis intrigues me. As a former RB, he may have a unique understanding of how to work with S&C coaches cooperatively to get better results for the young men under his tutelage, i.e.: better ability to withstand the wear and tear of the grind that RBs endure. -
Can't wait to read it! BTW, I love this forum!

No doubt Charles, but I choose to look past the stubborness of sticking with Brown in favor of looking a the smallish light at the end of the tunnel... The cupboard isn't exactly bare, and I am eager to see what develops over the next 8 months. There's only so much sunshine to go around, and 4 TD's by freshman receivers is a good beginning. It's amazing how difficult it is for a young group of players to begin to accept that they are capable of far more than has been asked of them, after being ground down under the heel of an oppressive administration.

Seeing what some of the young guys are bringing to the table, literally, for the first time this season, has me chomping at the bit to see what the new staff is bringing... HOPE! Those young coaches had to have been excited by the passion and effort, let alone the talent, that was on display in the second half. Makes one wonder what might have been with a little of this earlier in the season. GO DUCKS!!! Time for the next step!
