  1. Long as it somehow leads to opposing coaches muttering, "DanMitAll!" Repeatedly on the sidelines, I'll be happy to call him RESPECTED...
  2. The O.N.C.DuhLanning Trophy? Too early?
  3. From what I saw last night, a healthy Oregon 2 deep D should have been able to put serious pressure on Williams all night. He's the real deal, but when Oregon defense put pressure on him, the accuracy became suspect.
  4. I was never a qb growing up... My sum total experience is pickup games and messing around with neighborhood kids who for some odd reason think it's cooler to hang out with Oompah than their own families. What bothers me is knowing that at 68 years old, with a throwing range limited by a past dislocation, I have better form and accuracy on passes under 20 yards, than what we often witnessed from a veteran D1 (really?) QB in his sixth season. Who was his qb whisperer, and why was he asleep at the wheel?
  5. Sure, Texas has OREGON's best interests at heart .
  6. Did anyone else notice the (former) Oregon coaches in the booth dancing and laughing during the second half? It almost looked like a celebration of relief at having the shackles removed
  7. I'll join you in that toast... I'm not a drinking man but I felt like the first half was more of a "Staight Tequila Night". The second half offense deserves a somewhat more refined libation.
  8. Resulted in literally nothing for the Ducks... Thanks to the refs. DEFENSE: VMIII's fight for the fumble recovery. Heart, fighting (Duck) spirit to the bitter end. OFFENSE: A freshman receiver shoved out of bounds, diving back on the field to try securing the reception. (Seriously, NO PI?) If that effort doesn't ignite your inner Fightin' Duck, what does? BTW, the SILENCE from the review booth in this game was astounding, especially after suffering through the stifling, nitpicking, game changing carnival that was PAC12 officiating this season.
  9. Sounds as if the Ducks may need a daycare stipend in their contracts... Several of these coaches have young families. Interesting this guy has been a successful HS OC, but the fact he also acted as a weight room assistant while at Memphis intrigues me. As a former RB, he may have a unique understanding of how to work with S&C coaches cooperatively to get better results for the young men under his tutelage, i.e.: better ability to withstand the wear and tear of the grind that RBs endure.
  10. Can't wait to read it! BTW, I love this forum!
  11. No doubt Charles, but I choose to look past the stubborness of sticking with Brown in favor of looking a the smallish light at the end of the tunnel... The cupboard isn't exactly bare, and I am eager to see what develops over the next 8 months. There's only so much sunshine to go around, and 4 TD's by freshman receivers is a good beginning. It's amazing how difficult it is for a young group of players to begin to accept that they are capable of far more than has been asked of them, after being ground down under the heel of an oppressive administration.
  12. Seeing what some of the young guys are bringing to the table, literally, for the first time this season, has me chomping at the bit to see what the new staff is bringing... HOPE! Those young coaches had to have been excited by the passion and effort, let alone the talent, that was on display in the second half. Makes one wonder what might have been with a little of this earlier in the season. GO DUCKS!!! Time for the next step!
  13. I know this game is pretty much over, but Oregon's players haven't quit.
  14. What the heck... This is damning evidence of how bad the play calling has been under MC. You can see the confidence growing in the offense.
  15. Stoops has something I never saw from MC... A Take No Prisoners, Killer Instinct! Oregon needs to learn to turn on the jets and keep the pedal to the metal!
  16. Oh what a difference a healthy D makes!
  17. Probably won't need to drag the new Duck HC off the field as often as the previous iteration...
  18. Aww. Shoughs... oh, wait! OREGON/29-17/2-3/222 Eternal optimist in me lives!
  19. Re-name the U... "Miasma"
  20. Yup, came to Oregon on scholarship in 1959, to play with his friend, John Robinson... Later transferred to Cal Poly. John Madden and Keith Jackson were my two favorite football broadcasters, pro or college. I can imagine the two bumping into each other at some ethereal sports venue in the sky: "BAM!" followed by a mighty, "Whooooa, Nelly!", and a giant bear hug... What a thunder storm THAT would be!
  21. Apparently, according to BMac, Williams and Addison are available... LaDuke, Jackson, Amuave, and Shipley are either injury or academic, per Crepea.
  22. This list is a microcosm of some of Oregon's issues this season... Close to half (fifteen) of the "missing" players are out with injuries... That has been a glaring problem all year. Three (count 'em, 3) opt outs... OK has ten , 4 on the D line alone! Four are in the portal or have already transferred to other programs. 2 players, Wilhoite and Greenfield have been away from the team all year. That's 22 players who might have been contributors... 2 others were never an option Who knows why Addison, Jackson, LaDuke, Aumavae, Laloulu, Shipley, or Williams have not been at practice? The only news here is that pretty much nothing has changed. Oregon winning this game would be a pretty impressive end to this season, even if it isn't Duck fans "DREAM FINISH"!
  23. Do I want the Ducks to win every game? After seeing the 12-0 performance a few seasons ago, I realize it's 'possible', but for all but a very few teams, unlikely. It's "lightning in a bottle". AB gave everything he had, occasionally exceeding his own limitations. I find it disappointing, to put it mildly, that coaches did not seize the chance to find how well the younger players might have navigated the waters of adversity when AB struggled mightily, at times. THAT, is not on AB. It sits solely on the shoulders and in the hands of the Oregon coaches, whether out of fear, denial, or pure, ornery, stubbornness. Grandpa owned a jackass when I was a kid. That cantankerous critter had a small corral, with a 10' wide creek (which, in the summer, might have been less than a foot deep), separating it from 70 acres of open, green, pasture. There was a well constructed, 12' wide bridge across that mighty body of water. The epitome of "mule headed" is th fact that the only way we could get him into the pasture was to hook his halter to the John Deere, and lead (or drag, if you will) 200 pounds of donkey to the other side. That is what I witnessed from MC lead Oregon coaches this season, in a nutshell.
