Does Anyone Have Suggestions on Where to Stream UCLA game?
David Marsh replied to Jemangi's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Get a VPN like Nord and move your location to somewhere where it is in that Zip? I know some things like YouTube TV won't work if it's through a VPN though and I'm. It sure if it's work on sling. If you can get a free trial of a VPN it would be worth a shot though. -
Pig-2 Getting Receipts, and NOT Liking Reality...
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The reality is that they wanted to swing big and try and capture the cream of the G5 schools and try and leverage that into something equal to a Big 12... In truth it wouldn't be far off but it would still be a step down. They missed in their efforts. Now they are trying to not fail. Merging with the Mountain West would be much easier at this point but that would be admitting a defeat. -
Pig-2 Getting Receipts, and NOT Liking Reality...

I mean all of our current interest is based on the drama and the train wreck that this is... it gives us something to talk about. I tuned in to part of the WSU and OSU games last week but I didn't watch their entirety. I don't think that will hold my interest to even both checking in on the game in future years... I doubt I will even check the box scores all that often. I don't check the box scores all that often as it is for G5 teams but only when I am doing some basic research for an article or forum post. -
We have already seen players who were rotational players but with a lot of upside opt to stop playing and preserve their redshirt so they can transfer and get a better pay day elsewhere or just keep their college career going. Kris Hudson didn't play last year other than a handful of snaps because he lost his starting spot at Oregon and wanted to transfer in order to try and help his NFL stock. He is now a valuable piece to the Washington State offense. Not sure it will help his NFL stock though playing for the Cougs.

Pig-2 Getting Receipts, and NOT Liking Reality...
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think that was the intention but it didn't pan out for a couple reasons. 1. Everything dissolved so quickly. Once Colorado said they're leaving the media deal was released and it was sub-optimal to say the least. The Big 12 continued to push for the Arizona Schools and once Fox's B1G then swooped in to grab Oregon and Washington at half price for a few years and the Big 12 grabbed the Arizona Schools and Utah. 2. Agree with it or not... the legal case about control of the Pac-12 residing with the remaining members was based on the precedent that once members announced their leaving the conference (at first USC and UCLA) they lost voting rights in the conference. Colorado lost their voting rights on policy once they announced their leaving. So in keeping with consistency once everyone but OSU and WSU announced they're leaving those two got control of the conference. There was a desire by all the schools leaving to dissolve the conference and distribute resources but a judge ruled that because of the precedent set that members leaving lost their voting power the resources were forfeited. A lot of Duck fans are upset by this and I am not taking a side on whether this is right or not... but that is an explanation and logic used behind what happened. -
Like many parents with young children, I right now love night games. I get the kids to bed and I get sit down with a nice cup of tea (I have UK citizenship along with US citizenship so... tea while watching American football feels like a perfect mesh) and then get to mutter to myself about every single play whether it is good or bad. Sounds like a wonderful evening!

Pig-2 Getting Receipts, and NOT Liking Reality...

Well the two left over conferences will be the Big 12 (already a left over conference) and the ACC (once the break up starts). -
Are You Feeling Snookered by the B1G Yet?
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not at all surprised. We're prime late night material. I kinda knew this was coming. If we're not playing a top tier team then we'll get the late game. Just maybe on a better network. In truth we only got stuck on the pac-12 network once or twice a year because we're the Ducks. We were usually on ESPN or Fox for the late night. And we still are (but not ESPN because contracts). Getting put on Peacock is basically like being put in the Pac-13 network. That happened once already for a night game for us. -
Crap. Bedford Hurt AGAIN in Practice...
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think we have a starting five on the OL that will work out just fine. If we get Bedford back he will return as a depth player this season and not a starter. Part of me wants to say if he's not ready to play next week then it might be worth getting a medical redshirt for him and bring him back next year. -
Is Boise State Going to Destroy the Pac-12?
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What FCS schools want to join the FBS? I don't think North Dakota wants it. One of the Montana schools maybe? Eastern Washington? Portland State can't afford it. But if Eastern Washington and Boise State are in the same conference then it becomes the conference of awfully colored fields and I guess oregon.state should make their field orange and just join the dumb colors. -
Is Boise State Going to Destroy the Pac-12?
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I know I've said it elsewhere.... But also waiting for the ACC to break apart is worth their while. Also the scrap-6 will probably get a media deal around 10-15 mil per school and be relagated to late night programming. I figure the schools they got so far are probably worth 10mil (slightly higher than current MW pay out and a LOT lower than what the pac-12 was getting before the break up) for the late night programming. So for those AAC schools they'll have to travel more and play late at night on the east Coast. Wait for the ACC to break up and get into a tier 2 conference and not a tier 3. -

Cam Ward Has Turned Miami Into a Contender...
David Marsh replied to Just Ducky's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I mean Justin Herbert made Oregon a playoff caliber team. They just couldn't get there because of some poor plays in some key games... vs Auburn and vs ASU. If it was a 12 team playoff the Ducks would have made it into the playoff that year. -
We also have a lot of teams that still have to play each other and injuries always throw a wrench projections.
-
They will have to determine who the highest ranked is because the format says automatic bid for the 5 highest ranked conference champions. As there are only 4 P4 conferences and 5 other conferences they'll have to determine who the best is for that spot. Which would mean doing a ranking outside the top 25. I have a feeling the committee would determine this behind closed doors and just slip in a 5th conference champion into the top 25 to make it easy on themselves. Doesn't mean it's fair or right ... Just the way it'll be.
-
And what's counter intuitive is that it matters more where you're opponents end the season than their ranking at the time of the game. Even though all the attention is on top 10 or top 25 match ups the week of it doesn't hold the same weight as where teams end the season.

Cam Ward Has Turned Miami Into a Contender...
David Marsh replied to Just Ducky's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
They haven't met any real competition yet and they really don't this season. Their best win is against a Florida team in shambles. Or against USF who aren't power 4. -
Yes.... They can but this is probably what needs to happen. 1. Win out .. duh this is a given. 2. Win convincingly ... Don't look like Mountain West teams are your equals. They can probably have a couple close wins but can't make a habit of it. 3. Pray the Ducks win the B1G... Yeah this one is going to be the hardest for Beaver fans. But if Oregon wins the B1G then they am an say their only loss is to probably the No. 2 team in the country. And then they'll have to hope and pray that the committee doesn't have anyone else deemed more worthy or they pity them enough. Then and only then does OSU get like the 12th spot and the honor of getting demolished by a B1G or SEC team in the first round of the playoff.
-
Overall... Not too bad. So far Oregon has played winning programs. Even FCS Idaho holds a win over Wyoming a G5 school. Oregon State has a win over Purdue a P4 or P2 school. Granted not a good one but it was a one sided win. These were some good training games to get the season rolling. This week we face our first team with a losing record in UCLA!

Where Do You Go to Watch Duck Games in Portland?
David Marsh replied to Jolson's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'll be honest... I just stay at home. Though I've seen games atamy pubs, but never made a mission to go there and watch a game. It's been non Oregon games I've seen part of while out. Fire on the Mountain has some decent table seating for it and Breakside Brewpub has decent TV placement. Both have good food. Both are also in NE Portland. -
And to anyone to said because we're in the B1G now we'll never have late night games. Yeah... We're getting late night games when we aren't playing on the east coast and we aren't playing against too teams. Boise State didn't start until 7:30 two weeks ago. This isn't going to change but it will be a bit less frequent. We'll have another late start the following week because it's a Friday game against Michigan State on the West Coast.

USC Fans Blame the Officials for Loss to Michigan
David Marsh replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In this regard I think we're better suited for the B1G. The problem with Pac-12 refs (among many problems) is that they tended to not let players play through a play and we're flag happy. This got us into trouble when he had refs from other conferences because our guys weren't physical enough and it had less to do about physicallity and more to do with how refs called penalties. If you get flagged for any contact as pass interference you're less likely to engage and battle it out with a receiver. Oregon had a lot of these overly aggressive flags the past few seasons that we frankly haven't seen this year. -
CFB Night Games to Discuss! Washington, Cal, Beavis...
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'd say that if they were playing an old pac-12 slate but against mountain West teams... I can see 7-8 wins. -

I do believe this Oregon State team and Trent Bray will win a good amount of games. But I never said they'd be fun or interesting.
