Yeah... Bama is destroying Georgia. I don't think Georgia is as good as the rankings have indicated. Their close call against Kentucky showed some faults. Granted it also looks like Bama is a very good team.

I'm not sure Portland State can afford to be an FBS team for starters even with more money. And then they'll be basement dwelling for a very long time. Like they'd be the basement. Eastern Washington would be a far better option. But once they start digging into the FCS pool they look even more desperate. They really should have lined up all 6 members they wanted to add before announcing anything.

The biggest factor that they get out of having highly talented players local are the unofficial visits. These are visits that players pay for themselves and show up to the school and get to be around the staff and players. If the big recruits are local these happen ALL the time. Oregon getting unofficial visits usually means that player and their family is getting on several planes to make it to Eugene. It's a cost in time and money. In terms of traditional recruiting Oregon is always going to have a disadvantage due to location. But we'll get enough star power to build a strong roster and stack classes. But it's Lanning's ability to dive into he portal so far that has really separated him from other teams. However, we will get a better view of this team next year when those youngsters he's brought in will be upper classmen and will begin taking more reps and owning the team. Keep in mind that Smart and Saban recruited five stars not with the thought they'd play on day one but rather they become the backbone of the team in year 2-4. We haven't quite seen that out of Lanning's team just yet.

I think the defense for against allowing mid season transfers goes to school enrollment. Enrollment closes on classes at some point and athletes moving to different institutions during a season cannot necessarily enroll in classes which is still a major component of college athletics. As it stands right now they still need to be students.

Depends on the recruiting service. Some services do take the quantity into account while others do not for their final rankings. But the biggest thing that usually matters is average rating. If you sign 30 3 stars that's not better than signing 15 4 stars.

Cal is the team that I do think they have the most potential and the most to prove. Cal would be a lot higher if they beat FSU who doesn't look all that good. As always with my power rankings which I have posted in the past though always as a Forum post and not an article, these are snapshot in time. In a week or two I think that Cal rises up these rankings and OSU may fall a bit.

Sanders is in year two at Colorado and he did increase their win total by a good margin in his first year from the previous year. It's normal for any coach in that position to have a cool seat. But I'd be shocked with Sheduer makes it through the season without some sort of game affecting injury. If the sacks keep coming his body won't stand up to it all.

The reality is that they wanted to swing big and try and capture the cream of the G5 schools and try and leverage that into something equal to a Big 12... In truth it wouldn't be far off but it would still be a step down. They missed in their efforts. Now they are trying to not fail. Merging with the Mountain West would be much easier at this point but that would be admitting a defeat.

I mean all of our current interest is based on the drama and the train wreck that this is... it gives us something to talk about. I tuned in to part of the WSU and OSU games last week but I didn't watch their entirety. I don't think that will hold my interest to even both checking in on the game in future years... I doubt I will even check the box scores all that often. I don't check the box scores all that often as it is for G5 teams but only when I am doing some basic research for an article or forum post.
