Feld is what is called a "belt coach" where part of his job is to keep the HC off the field. There are quite a few pictures of him pulling MC back. Lots of coaches use their strength.coaches in that way.

Rankings this year are all over the place without having a normal high school season last year and the evaluations that come with it. Quite a few recruits will get bumps, while others we will just have to see if the coaches did a good enough job in the evaluation to see what these players can do.

USC has a knack of firing their head coaches mid season... They have fired their last three head coaches during the season. Orgeron was the interm HC after Kiffin was fired. The players loved him but USC hired Sark instead. A year and a bit later they fired Sark and then Helton became intern head coach... And was then hired as full time HC. Don't know how I remember all that..

Oregon’s Offensive Spark Comes From the RB
David Marsh replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Absolutely on defense... KT really makes everyone look better out there and brings some great energy and encourages energy out of everyone else. Sewell also has great energy but it doesn't always translate to the team. -
Seems Like it is Just Getting to the Point Where...
David Marsh replied to Haywarduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Things do have to change... But in truth this coaching staff tends to be slow to learn and make changes. I mean the pistol wasn't working and we have finally phased out it's use as our always use formation. So that's nice. -
Some Positive Observations from Last Night...

Arizona found their QB and he has since been injured for the season. I think it took any life out of that Arizona team. -
Some Positive Observations from Last Night...

Another positive observation last night... No new injuries. DJ James ... Maybe as it looked like he headed into the locker room at one point. However, he was just walking, didn't looking in pain. So who knows why he was leaving the field... But I would imagine it was mild. So maybe this team gets healthy. -
KT really brought some energy to the defense. Need that kind of leadership on the field.

Some Positive Observations from Last Night...
David Marsh replied to Southwest Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think by the end of the game Cal fans were tired of hearing about KT and Oregon fans were tired of hearing about how Cal was going to pull off the upset. I will add to the list of positives.... NO PISTOL! I don't remember seeing any pistol plundges last night... Just shotgun. -
I don't think they have worked under center to be honest. They haven't done anything under center in a very long time. I personally would like the victory formation to take a snap from under center.

Cal GameDay Thread: A 2021 Crossroads Game?
David Marsh replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Clock management wasn't bad for the end of a half. Might as well use all the clock and not leave enough for the cal offense to try anything. The turnover was the big problem. Also... Brown is really showing right now that he can't process and make the right decisions fast enough. -

No penalties and it's a nice drive. -

... and a turnover... The slop just continues. -

Hate to say it... But it's kinda deserved at this point. If Brown hit dye when he was running out of the backfield that could have worked .. instead he came back to Dye too late and got nothing for it. More bad decisions. -

So apparently Washington is wearing retro uniforms this weekend. You wouldn't know it unless you were told. Feels like some lame marketing if you ask me. Also they are supposed to be uniforms honoring their 1991 "National Championship" ... You know the one they split before they actually played a game to crown a winner. Anyways ... I had a laugh at the Huskies. Especially since this is the year they lost to an FCS team, were demolished on the road by Michigan, and we're beaten by the Beavers. UCLA should give them a tough game. It may result in a Washington loss which would be pretty funny for them to lose in THOSE uniforms.

He looked cautious against Arizona. The last snap he played he limped off the field but turned out to be fine... It looked more like one of those "oh crap" moments where something didn't feel right and he didn't want to risk it. Against Stanford towards the end of the game he was getting better push and eating double teams. He still didn't look quite as explosive. However, I'll say it may be due to more rust than anything else. Bring sidelined doesn't help, even expirenced players.

I believe Cristobal's desire to win a national championship for Oregon is genuine. That isn't the case with every coach when or if they say it. 95% of schools don't even have make the playoff as one of their realistic goals. So maybe... Just maybe ... That Stanford loss hit Cristobal in a way that he is going to let everything fly and trust his players and staff that they will deliver. Oregon can still make the playoff ... At this moment I know that is theoretically true but it doesn't feel true. There is only one path to the playoff and it's win out. Easier said than done... But the team that played at Stanford won't make the playoff... Or even the Rose Bowl.

Duck Reveal Uniform for Cal (LOVE that Helmet!)
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Looks like they are last year's design of uniforms just in black. -
I want a YELLOW Out! Big time highlighter yellow out! Sear your eyes out from the yellow! Oregon has unsual colors for nor just college sports but sports teams in general. Not a whole lot of teams use green, let alone yellow, and we are basically the only true duck mascot out there too. Bring me the bright yellow!

I feel the USC problem for finding a fit is right now they want some star power and someone proven from the coaching world... However, the world of College Football hasn't seen a powerful USC for around 15 years now! USC is not a destination school it used to be, and USC is a hot mess whose name doesn't hold the weight it used to and they can't even reliably keep the best recruits from their back yard anymore. This has all been said a million times. The big factor that I think USC is running into right now is so many of the best coaches out there with the most rising success are in places that fit their personalities, which aren't big city LA personalities or colleges. A lot are mid-west coaches who fit their mid-west town. That doesn't mean they can't take over and have success in LA but the other question is... do they even want to move it? Is being the USC head coach a big enough of a draw for them in the first place? USC would be a great platform for them to rebuild and realistically have a shot at a National Championship. But failure results in being fired mid-season which makes the firing all the more embarrassing. For the record USC's last three Head Coaches were fired mid-season... Kiffin, Sark, and now Helton. At least being fired at the end of the season results in you leaving your job when everyone else is and you can talk about the difficulties of that season... getting fired midseason is the Athletic Director saying "You're bad at your job and we should have done this sooner but we can't wait to do it later... so .... BYE!"

Have a link to that one? Sorry Charles don't know how I missed it : /

Doralus said Friday is going to be different... I really hope he is right. Getting some players back on defense and offense can make all the difference. I want to believe we will see a dominant Oregon win... but my enthusiasm is tempered right now.
