In this current schedule Oregon State and Washington State play each other TWICE! Beyond that this is a schedule that is cobbled together because they clearly burned their Mountain West bridges in their rebuilding the Scrap-12 for 2026... a rebuild that isn't even complete yet. Though they do get to come to Oregon next year to get their butts kicked.

This is too funny... Maybe they need to ask some Ohio State fans about the noise levels at Autzen. Or better yet... just suffer the consequences.

It depends... if you're down by a lot.. greater than 2 touchdowns then going for 2 is less about the points and more about the momentum if you get it. Never underestimate the power of an emotional momentum swing. If down by 14 then take the extra points and if you need to go for two later that is an option.

The B1G Reveal - Hoosier Daddy - B1G Fun With Numbers

Isn't the field technically 120 yards long if you count the end zones... But the field in Columbus is all adjacent to sad Buckeye fans. -
FORGET the 2025 Season: Ducks Better Savor This Year…
David Marsh replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We will have some room for transfers next year. Sources: NCAA to increase scholarships for sports, with football getting roster limit of 105 players SPORTS.YAHOO.COM As part of the new revenue-sharing model, by-sport scholarship restrictions will be eliminated, and schools are permitted to offer scholarships to the entirety of their rosters. Basically walk-ons are gone and are now scholarship players which does open up some potential additional room. But we'll see what next year's team looks like next year. Right now we do need to enjoy the ride of this year. I have confidence that Lanning will reload the roster for next year and I am sure that with another year of development there will be loads of players who emerge as contributors who have been practicing against these seniors. The Georgia, Bama and Clemson National Title teams always seemed to have new all star players emerge in their 3rd or 4th year at the institution. So I have faith in Lanning and let him worry about that for now. -
Stephen A Says Alabama Hired the Wrong Guy

But his luck did seem to run out in one score games. -
Can this please happen?!

Illinois this year strikes me kinda like Utah in the Pac-12. A good team, a physical team with an athletic quarterback and a strong run game. But I also feel like Lanning is going to have his team ready. It's in Autzen and that should help. I think in many ways we are built to counter this type of team but the key will be keeping their quarterback bottled up.

Play NINE Games and Still Redshirt?

Might give some scholarships to more specialists though... That still needs to be ensured as a part of the scholarship total because specialists deserve scholarships too! Oregon's 2024 Offense Statistics Update - Concerning or Building?
David Marsh replied to cartm25's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm absolutely thrilled we're No. 1 in the country right now and that we pitched our first shutout since 2012. I'm still living off the massive win over Ohio State. Though as a fan who pays far too much attention to the progrum I find myself being concerned about things that seem minor but might be our shortfalls. And right now I want to see some more rushing yards. Now thinking about it this year we really don't seem to have a true one-two punch. James is our featured back this year but he isn't quite getting featured back snaps in terms of numbers. Last year we had Bucky and James and those two were brutal. We don't have that this year. -
Play NINE Games and Still Redshirt?
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The post season games not being a redshirt I feel is pretty important for two reasons. 1. The transfer portal can deplete rosters before bowl games and some teams need those players to play to stand a chance. 2. Injuries, similar but different to the transfer portal. Rosters are depleted and especially with longer seasons now that being able to fall back on players who were supposed to redshirt is more important than ever. Just think... If this rule were ineffect the Ducks probably win the cursed 2015's seasons Alamo Bowl when we lost our starting QB and Center. Poor Doug Brenner went in as center and too many fans blame him and we wasn't a good center but the alternative was burning a red shirt on Jake Hansen for one half of a bowl game. Nine games feels a bit extreme to be honest... But that only applies to two teams total. And the reality is playoff teams will be seeing a great many of their best players, redshirt or not, leave for the NFL draft as quickly as they can. -
Oregon's 2024 Offense Statistics Update - Concerning or Building?
David Marsh replied to cartm25's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Rush yards per game are low in part due to the two very bad games to start the year where normally we see inflated stats. Last year the Ducks ran for like 300 yards against Portland State and that's some stat inflation right there. Also the 80 points they dropped on PSU. However, with that said it feels like our offense isn't quite firing at it's full potential yet. I still feel like we need to see more games with more than 40 points. The reality is we'd be there is we didn't keep leaving so many points on the field. Against Purdue that late first half interception prevented Oregon from scoring more than 40. The two interceptions against MSU as well and the one interception against UCLA. I know I'm kinda pointing the finger the most at Gabriel here more than anything... But I feel our offense needs a bit more power and efficiency. -

Mariota & Commanders Crushing Jaguars

Good for Marcus. Now he needs to hold down that job. Then we need to get Gabriel a starting gig somewhere. I kinda doubt that will happen because he just doesn't have the measurables. But we can hope! -
Best part is that we are getting an almost weekly serving!

Ohio State Fans: "I Can See Fear in Their Buckeyes"
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think I like my line more from my last article. So I'm going to quite myself... "Ultimately, Lanning was right: the B1G is going to have to adjust to Oregon. They let a wolf into the conference thinking it was sheep and now they’re paying for it." And the best part is... Ohio State fans are feeling the regrets probably more than anyone else. -

Berzerkly-Ugly: Cal Fans Turning on Wilcox...
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I was just thinking with the Miami game that Wilcox was figuring it out. In truth Cal's biggest problem right now is how awful their offensive line is. Hard to have an offense when your good QB can't throw because a clean pocket doesn't exist and there is no run game tomsprsk of. -
I have avoided doing this until so late in the season because I just haven't felt like I have a grasp on the B1G as a conference. I'd be the first to admit that I'm just not a huge B1G fan but here we go. 1. Oregon - seems simple and a good start. To be the best you have to beat the best and so far Oregon has done that. 2. Ohio State - well they were the best until they lost to Oregon. So far so good. 3. Indiana - whoa... Deviation from the norm here. Indiana has a strong offense and a pretty solid defense. I don't think they could win against No. 1 or 2 but I think they could beat No. 4 on this list because I think Curt Cignetti can out coach James Franklin. Roster wise on paper Penn State as the edge but I think Cignetti beats Franklin.. 4. Penn State - undefeated and they've had some close contests but undefeated is hard to do and I don't see anyone beneath them being a better team. 5. Illinois - a good team that slipped up once so far. They are built like a traditional B1G team (which is agrue the top 3 really aren't) in that they like the run the ball and play good defense in a low scoring, grind it out, style of play. Not exciting to watch but effective if done right. But I don't think they can beat anyone above them as they aren't built for a shootout after barely surviving one against Purdue. This next section is a mess... You really could argue for anyone being ahead of anyone else here and I'd probably agree with you. 6. Michigan State - they boat raced Iowa, not that Iowa has any boats, and they deserve to be ahead of Iowa. It also looks like Jonathan Smith is starting to pull his team together. They had two back-to-back losses against Ohio State and Oregon which shouldn't be too much of a knock on them compared to everyone else. 7. Iowa - good defense still, offense is better than last year but still not a complete team. But still not a team that anyone would want to face. 8. Washington - our second former Pac-12 team comes in at least at the top half of the conference, and it's not an LA team. Washington can surprise people under Jedd Fisch. They beat Michigan with beating room and got blasted by Iowa. I expect them to be USC this next week. 9. Nebraska - earlier in the year I thought Nebraska was scary. Turns out they aren't. And that brings us half way??? Ughh super conferences are too big. 10. Michigan - still have yet to learn the forward pass this season. Their defense is good but not dominant. So stop the run and you'll probably beat them. 11. Minnesota - built like Michigan but with some upside. They lost to Michigan so for now they're here but I wouldn't be surprised if they move ahead soon. 12. Wisconsin - they lost to USC but they're playing better so I'll leave them here at the moment even though it feels a little high for them. Bottom group... Bit more clear than the middle but not by much. 13. Maryland - not a good team but they they beat USC. 14. Rutgers - they beat Washington but that was their high point. They just lost to UCLA at home which is embarrassing. 15. USC - they beat LSU while UCLA lost to LSU. USC can't close out games so I'm putting them down here even though they have the talent to be higher but they have yet to show it. Could probably beat those below them though. 16. Northwestern - probably couldn't beat USC. But they beat Maryland? Ughh no easy place to put them but when northwestern loses its often badly. 17. UCLA - they finally won a conference game so that puts them above Purdue. 18. Purdue - yet to win a conference game and got thumbed 35-0 by Oregon and their failure to put up any points as in part their own fault with penalties and a missed field goal. Here's my first shot at this... So if I got anything horribly wrong let me know.

Hoosiers Shuck Nebraska but Their QB is Out Indefinitely
David Marsh replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Indiana is a scary team. Not going to lie. The haven't played a ranked team yet and they haven't had that difficult of a schedule. But we'll find out just what this team is made of soon enough. Curt Cignetti is an amazing head coach and turned that program around on a dime. This is what Colorado expected when they hired Dieon Sanders. Next to Vanderbilt they are definitely one of the most surprising teams this year. -
Austin Mock's Playoff Mock Loves Puddles
David Marsh replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Gut says Ohio State but because of rb talent but because of line talent. But then again maybe Ohio State abandons the run and just throws it all day. -
There was nothing wrong with that Pac-12 football product... It needed a team to elevate into the national title picture sure but from an entertainment standpoint nothing wrong with it. There was everything wrong with its branding. Being relegated to late night didn't help our legitimacy in the eyes of the east coast who have a lot of say in what happens in the post season.

Evening CFB Games to Discuss: No. 1 Texas vs. Georgia!
David Marsh replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
UCLA's record is still negative..they won today but they're still a long shot from making a bowl game. Everyone else having a winning record is good for us thought that's for sure.
