  1. But Clemson could still be good. Many of these teams could still be good but maybe not national championship good. For Clemson they'll need to show they can compete even if they get beat. Losing to Georgia in game one isn't a death sentence. Especially not in the era of a 12 team playoff.
  2. I would say the Texas Tech game was a result of the DNA established a year earlier in the Washington State game. It's certainly proof that the culture is working and lessons were learned. Even down to the forced interception turned into a pick six late in the fourth was similar between the two games.
  3. That was a great way to end the game. But if I were to choose a game or two against good teams that showed off Lanning execution as a coach. I'd probably say civil war last year and probably the Utah game last year. Wall to wall domination against good teams, not great, but teams that showed if you left a crack for them to squeeze through they'd be happy to bite ya. And he just slammed the door shut on them nice and early and never looked back.
  4. Personally I'm absolutely fine with his desire to go for it. My gripe is on play calls as I think they should have been better. But in the end I think that killer instinct and trusting his team is what will get him a national championship. If the and went another way we'd be calling him absolutely brilliant but they didn't. I think there were lessons to learn but most fans and casual viewers and pundits don't know them.
  5. I think that was a bit of Nix as well. There were quite a few times where Nix could have ran but he opted to pass instead. I think part of it is also a change in coordinator going from Dillingham to Stein. But as for this year. I wouldn't be surprised for maybe a bit more cavalier approach with running the quarterback because that is in Gabriel's skill set (his running is different than Nix's) and we have a back-up quarterback! I don't think there is any fear with this staff in putting in Moore if they need to and having that safety net does allow for a bit more quarterback freedom.
  6. If we didn't bring in any transfers, I think Thompson would have lost out to Novosad regardless. Even Luke Moga looked better in the Spring Game than Thompson has in the past.
  7. I was thinking about the Utah game of 2022. Nix was injured and playing on one leg and the Utah defense zeroed into stopping the run at all costs and Nix was able to pass just enough to give the Ducks a fighting chance. But in that game it was the Oregon defense that came up HUGE and won the game on their backs. However, I did run out of room for an article and in the end every game is important.
  8. "So-and-so is a good football team" Doesn't matter who it is they always a good team. I get that it is a sign of respect but still.
  9. Streaming isn't so bad. It's the fear of something new that is the biggest thing. The clickers have FEWER buttons and the interface is pretty clean. I'm sure you'll take to it in no time.
  10. It actually looks like a Colorado player is holding an Oregon player in this picture... I'm pretty sure THAT is cheating.
  11. Anything about a "Gimmick" or something being "gimmicky" If it works and is within the rules of the game then it's a valid strategy. Most strategies have weaknesses and are exposed at some point.
  12. The Ducks didn't need to cheat... That Colorado O-line was so bad that Shaduer was running for his life at the snap. There wasn't anything clever about the Oregon pass rush besides... we have bigger guys and they are going to run over the smaller guys. And guess what... repeat the same thing for the offensive side of the ball. Nix had pass protect for days and that back end coverage couldn't keep Franklin and Tez down. What extra information did we need to exploit? Their weak line play was on display for the previous three weeks! Also... this is making my article for tomorrow look a bit more interesting now. So stay tuned for my FishDuck article tomorrow morning!
  13. I don't think 4E would be that bad... but if you replace Harbuagh with a Michigan fan. Now it's explosive.
  14. 3C ... but it might be shockingly boring between those two. 1E could be fun. 3F might be spicier than it looks.
  15. Cheap bright yellow poncho that just goes over the top of a coat. It works well enough though not ideal.
  16. It looks like there are at least ways to access it. It might be through the Foxsports app which the Hulu login would work for at least.
  17. If you have Disney+ and/or Hulu already then going for Hulu +Live TV is a better deal than YouTube TV just because it all bundles. Though I wish there was just a college football sports package because I probably won't use it for much else and it is still rather expensive.
  18. I am sure DJU also decided to transfer one more time, and this time to FSU, because the NIL payout has to be pretty good. Especially for someone who was probably projected rather low in the draft or not at all. The NIL game is changing everything about when players enter the NFL draft, even star players.
  19. Welcome! I think a year or two ago Penn State did have two white out games... but once a year as a standard is very very special. I do think Duck fans are pretty good on the whole in wearing the correct color. I just think it could be a whole lot better. And sometimes to get it right it does require giving out free t-shirts at the door. I do feel that Oregon's highlighter yellow is something special and unique in college football, because it's so off the wall bonkers, and I would love to see more of it.
  20. This highlights the continued problem that stretches back to the BCS era. It doesn't matter if who you play as long as you win out. Some teams, usually blue bloods or teams in the SEC, are given mulligans for one loss (now two).
  21. I'd argue that we don't need the FCS schools to start the season. But signing up for a match against a power 4 powerhouse is also probably not a wise decision. Certainly not anymore being in the B1G. But I will say that that Georgia game, and massive loss, was important to building the program. It showed everyone inside the program that they need to work to get there and what holes they had on the roster.
  22. There is also talk floating around in a couple articles I saw that the MW might not even want them. If that's the case then they really are doomed. This year the MW is happy to take their money and incorporate them into scheduling.
  23. But if Florida loses to a Cristobal led Miami team they might be in the market for a new coach ... Potentially a coach who is an alumni and currently resides in Washington. So I'm rooting for a Miami win because it might lead to more Husky tears!
  24. To make matters worse for them it appears UCONN may be headed to the Big 12. I haven't seen any talk of Oregon State and Washington State making it into the Big 12. Though I do believe they will have to buy their way in.
  25. Interesting that Oregon State is given an 11-1 record. I suppose the thinking is that as long as that one loss is to Oregon, as it should be, that wouldn't hurt their chances if they beat everyone else in their G5 schedule.
