Coach Boles: What to Watch for on Offense in Spring Football
Notalot replied to Coach Eric Boles's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It will be in the 80's Tuesday and into the week in Clemson. I wanted to attend its spring game, but not with temps in the 40's and a stiff breeze which gives Memorial Stadium and Death Valley new meaning. I opted to sit on a cold soccer field for two games watching my granddaughter play, which warmed me. Tell 'em Jon. -
Coach Boles: What to Watch for on Offense in Spring Football

Thanks Coach and thanks Charles. Maybe Coach Dillingham can take the "O" out of the "boring" of the last few years returning the offense to the excitement Oregon is known for? Go Ducks. -
Deal With It: Epic Oregon-USC Battles Ahead
Notalot replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Speaking of limbo and drama I look forward to the futures of Thompson and Butters. They are both potentially great signal callers who hold the attributes of greatness. They are smart, have the requisite stature, boast big arms, and have plenty of practice experience under their belts. I’m hoping they will remain loyal to Oregon and Oregon Football. Through the drama of the season, and the limbo that Thompson and Butterfield dance, I hope that one of them will emerge to eventually become a national champion and high 1st round NFL Draft pick. It’s not over until it’s over. -
The near future is poised to be a glorious era of Oregon sports. This is setting up to be magnificent run for fans. Football is king in the sports program topping all budgets, producing revenue, and making headlines in national media shining light on the University of Oregon and the state. The football team is stacked with talent from Coach Cristobal’s recruiting successes. Coach Lanning and his staff have hit the ground running with intense focus on taking the Ducks to the summit of college football. There are plenty of facts that line up to a conclusion there is a “fighter’s chance” that there is a CFB championship ahead for the Ducks. The 2022 season begins in Atlanta where the Ducks line up against the 2021 season national champion Georgia Bulldogs. Coach Lanning has requested the support of fans at the 2022 Spring Football Game. It is scheduled for April 23rd at 1:00 P.M. in Autzen stadium. Save the date and be there with your family and friends to signal a new era of Oregon Football fandom. The men’s and women’s basketball teams for Oregon have faltered a bit this year from expectations. Despite that, the teams are talent laden, fiercely competitive teams that can bring it at both ends of the court. The teams play with drama and suspense along with amazing athleticism. There is lots for fans to watch, enjoy, and yes - bemoan sometimes watching MBB and WBB teams. Both teams will be loaded for the 2022-2023 season. Track and Field is back in the storied Oregon Track program. The team is stacked ready to represent Oregon in the best-in-the-world Hayward Field facility that will host both NCAA and open world title events. Fans will see a new generation of Track and Field marvels in Eugene. Oregon’s Coach Johnson has recruited a highly ranked class of champions and future college and possible world champions. The women’s Softball team is off to an undefeated start in its new season. This year’s team is posed for a post-season run. The future is bright for women’s softball at Oregon. The men’s Baseball team is just opening its season. Oregon baseball has become more prominent on the national scene. It is reasonable that new stars will emerge and a trip to Omaha for the College World Series may soon be in the offing. The above-noted sports teams are the major sports. Oregon also fields wonderful athletes and competitive teams worth watching and following in Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf, etc. Let’s get behind our Ducks (Ducks in a row) as fans, and do our parts to boost our players and teams.

Deal With It: Epic Oregon-USC Battles Ahead
Notalot replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Having witnessed the beat-downs of the Ducks by the Trojans in the “student body right - student body left” days, and the era of “Tail Back U”, experiencing the last 15 years of the Ducks superiority has been satisfying. O.J. Simpson, Mike Garrett, Ricky Bell, Marcus Allen, Charles White, Anthony Davis, Reggie Bush… It will be good for the PAC-12 for USC Football to become nationally relevant again, as it should be. Let new epic battles begin between the North and South. Fly Ducks fly. The Ducks are positioned to take on all-comers and win. -
You wrote a good summary opinion piece, Jon, smattered with QB factoids. While the QB slots will mostly be filled as you project at the beginning of the season as you project, who will be the starters in November? Injuries and competition take their tolls as the realities of the season unfold. Thank you.

Kenny Dillingham and the Up-Tempo Pro-Style Offense

I am ready to read more about it and to see it deployed effectively at Oregon. Thanks Coach Boles. -
SI's Ruebenking said, "the time is now for Dan Lanning to get the Ducks over the hump and take their spot among the nation's elite." We are ready. Let's go Ducks!

How Can Oregon Reclaim Its Offensive Identity?
Notalot replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Stronger faster Ducks with smarter more agile Duck trainers. 44+ Ppg. Scoring from all facets - ST, D, on the ground and through the air. Pedal to the metal intimidators. -
Mel Renfro 2x Super Bowl Champion Humping Pork Rind Fund
Notalot posted a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Mel Renfro was on national radio today for a pre Super Bowl interview. He helps raise money for former NFL players in need. Renfro was a great for the Ducks in the '60s later making 10 Pro Bowls over 14 seasons and playing on two Super Bowls champion teams. His name always surfaces in "best Ducks ever" conversations. The player's fund was begun by Mike Ditka with whom Renfro both played with and for. interviewed today- 1 reply

Is QB the Biggest Question for Oregon in 2022?
Notalot replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I am far more optimistic about the offensive backfield than you are. The return of the spread, use of TE's, and tempo should make the RB's more productive. We need depth, but unlike you I'll bet on the horses we have. -
Just Imagine if Oregon had a Passing Game last Season
Notalot replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
With a passing game in '21 the only things the Ducks would have needed was a couple of press lock-down corners and some interior D Linemen. Well, and a game worthy HC, a productive OC, and a top DC. Come to think about it, despite the wins, the Ducks still needed a lot more both off and on the field. Go Ducks in 2022. -
Is QB the Biggest Question for Oregon in 2022?
Notalot replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
There are so many questions to be answered about the 2022 Ducks football (and so little time). Yes, QB is the most important question and hole to fill. Without a national Top-5 QB, a team cannot summit the mountain. The Ducks may already have that superstar stud in the house, or they may still have to wait another 2-3 years to field a QB to take them to the playoff and hopefully win it. Having that special ace and field general does not guarantee making the CFP, but not having such a playmaker most assuredly means the team will watch TV and not play in the game. The best of the good life's behind us now, and the good days are really over for good. I is unregulated CHAOS as the inmates run the asylum. -
Posted for Jon Joseph at his request. QUESTION - The Pac-12 media rights come up for bid after those of the SEC and the B1G. ESPN has already agreed to pay the SEC $300M+ per annum for the same rights that CBS was paying the conference $55M per annum. I believe that FOX will go big with the B1G and perhaps elbow ESPN out of any B1G broadcast rights. What will be left over for the Pac-12 and functionally insolvent network? I think George Kliavkoff is the perfect man to look outside the box. Convince Amazon, now in bed with the NFL and /or other 'streaming networks' to become the lead Pac-12 broadcaster. Kick off one game Friday at 5 Pacific/ 8 Eastern. Kick off two games Saturday at 9AM Pacific/Noon Eastern. Kick off all but 2 of the remaining games at Noon Pacific/ 3 Eastern. Kick off the last two games at 3:30 Pacific/ 6:30 Eastern. Stream these games from completion through the following Thursday. Use common sense when scheduling the games to get 'attractive' games in each time slot. Have half the teams bye in week 5 and the other half in week 6. Doing the same 'media thing' and expecting different viewership results will not allow the Pac-12 to close the financial gap between it and the B1G and the SEC. Does the above make sense to you?

THE Most Important Two Hours as a Duck Fan...a MUST!
Notalot replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The video and interviews introduced the new Oregon Football staff to me. Before watching it I had 2D names and bios of the staff. Afterward the coaches became 3D people with personalities with souls. I find myself already hoping for a long run of coaching continuity ahead. It would be so great if these young families can bond together, meld into Eugene, the UO, and the state of Oregon. Oregon has a head coach with background on the defensive side. This staff should build an elite defense with strong position coaches and coordinators. Coach Dillingham's focus on speed and supreme athletes is foundational to the Offense. Then to hear him recognize the Oregon brand of offense and its advantages was exhilarating. I'm already droolng while anticipating seeing elements of the Spread, West Coast offense, and the blur return within Coach Dillingham's offense with explosive results "at any time". Coach Carlos Locklyn, Running Backs, says he is "24/7 Football". It is his love, occupation, and avocation. Coach Locklyn exudes his passion. With his stated admiration and respect for Gary Campbell I believe he will expand the legacy of Running Backs at Oregon. Caldwell, Dollars, Jordan James, and Seven must be jacked to begin working under Locklyn. Fellow Ducks fans, let's get behind this staff and the team of players. Let's rally Oregon Football, and leave negative divisive social media behind. Let's pack Autzen stadium for games and begin with a record turnout at the Spring Game. The Dan Lanning era of Oregon Football is here. -
The Tight End Position in the Kenny Dillingham Offense
Notalot replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have little doubt that Franck couldn't do it. He is an athlete extraordinaire. We will see him flourish if Coach Altman turns him loose and exorts him to create mayhem. Can you imagine Franck high pointing over a 5'10" CB? -
The Tight End Position in the Kenny Dillingham Offense
Notalot replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
TE plays have been mundane and limited. Our TE room is stacked and mature. Like Coach Boles, I want to see how Dillingham uses them in 2022. Go Ducks. -
I too, am a Franck fan. I am disappointed that he doesn't play more minutes because the team is best when he is on the floor. I like your observation about his contribution from the bench. Altman is a king among coaches, but I would sure like to see him tell the big men to attack the rim and control the paint aggressively, and tell the perimeter players to feed them. As you do I believe that the backcourt motion is modified, probably because of the front court talent. Phillipina on the WBB team is like Franck. She's energetic, raw, coordinated, has soft hands and a good eye, and she plays like she loves the game. From my amateur perspective coaching from my armchair at home I do not believe that either Graves or Altman are using or developing the Centers and Strong Forwards like they should be. Sabally is the exception, but she gets the minutes and others feed her and get out of the way letting her work.

Lanning Laws: “That Won’t Last a Week at Oregon”
Notalot replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Fundamental approach. Strip the disrespect and cockiyness from the adolescent, and build a man who displays self respect, control, and the maturity of a grown man. Men of Oregon. Go Ducks!
