  1. We are fortunate to get Yates. It doesn’t matter what I think, but if DeRuyter and Cristobal wanted Yates, that’s enough endorsement for me. Yates has had good jobs and been in solid coaching trees with success. Now, on to the promised land as a Duck.
  2. Interesting views on TS. the staff and Oregon Football. Opinions, theories, hypotheses and SWAGS. Damage? Will there be any damage at all to total wins for 2021? Or, will there be more nefarious damage to the underpinnings of Ducks football. I expect, given a spring and full season, that the show goes on with a new conductor, or several of them taking the helm. I'm donning my lemon and lime sunglasses.
  3. So sad for the Wildcats. Go Ducks.
  4. This film and the conversations in it are particularly interesting today following Tyler Shough's decision to enter the Transfer Portal. These are the skills and abilities of the Ducks QB's that JoMo will will be assessing from now into fall.
  5. This Ducks team has plus quickness and the players are physically strong. They fall short on continuity and play in fits and starts. It's a Covid year with so many challenges, but this group does not play like an Altman team in February. They don't run the offense well with consistency. The team is fun to watch. but watching is painful too. Unfortunately the post season will be short, if at all, unless something changes soon. Go Ducks.
  6. What is necessary according to an expert. What do you think?
  7. The Chipper's Blurr among other things was predicated on distributing the ball to playmakers in space with downhill blocking at the point of attack. It's easier to say than do, but his team's executed consistently. His teams added the element of surprise and occasionally trickery. JoMo may provide some of the same with his own formula.
  8. The Ducks are more talent laden than anytime in UO football history. Credit goes to Mario's leadership and the hard work and system of the staff. Kudos to them all. Now for getting the best players on the field, using them in the ways that complement their skills, and getting the team to work together attacking the competition. Kicking was an issue, but seems to be coming around. Special teams have come up woefully short and needs to be fixed. The way I see it, we have the strongest most experienced OC and DC that the Ducks have had under Cristobal. The coaches need time working together, with the team and in game situations to become their best. Coach Cristobal now has time in the PAC and at Oregon under his belt. It's time for the coaching to have a breakout season and elevate to higher IQ and execution. Go Ducks in 2021!
  9. This will be one of many great storylines of the 2021 football season. Among: - Year 2 of Moorhead's offense - QB competition - A stacked OL - A stacked RB stable - WR and TE of many types and great talent - A more competitive defensive backfield with more speed and harder hitters - The best edge rushers - We covered the LB's at the start. No excuses now but the future looks even brighter.
  10. DARN IT !!
  11. Clemson just raised OC Tony Elliott's salary to $2M plus. The Tiger's DC Brent Venables was already earning $2M plus. Clemson now has two of three highest paid Coordinators in college football. Coach Elliott is entering his 13th year and has turned down SEC and ACC HC opportunities, and stayed with Clemson. Coaches Moorhead and DeRueyter are outstanding. With Cristobal they become a 3-headed monster given a few years to gel. Just saying.......
  12. Black Mamba to Snoop Dog Black Momba in his own words. Dynamite to me.
  13. Johnny Rodgers from Wiki: In his three years with the Cornhuskers, the versatile Rodgers established an all-purpose NCAA yardage record of 5,586. We can only hope for and dream of such a productive career for Seven. I remember in 1971 laying laying on a cot in Vietnam, listening on Armed Forces radio as Rodgers lit it up for the Huskers. His performance was extraordinary, and even exciting. "In 1971, in what has become known as college football's "Game of the Century," Rodgers returned a punt 72 yards to score the first touchdown which set the tone for his team's 35–31 victory over the University of Oklahoma. ESPN describes Rodgers' performance as "unforgettable." However, some observers consider his greatest single performance to be in the 1973 Orange Bowl when he led his team to a 40–6 victory over Notre Dame. Rodgers ran for three touchdowns, caught a 50-yard pass for another touchdown, and threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to a teammate. He did all this before leaving the game with 21 minutes still to play."
  14. This team needs WR and Figueroa in order to meet its potential. They are sparks on both ends of the court.
  15. For those wanting to know more. Top of the Hill: Dabo Swinney and Clemson's Rise to College Football Greatness 4.8 out of 5 stars (62)Reviews
  16. No. Not yet. But I hope MC gets there. SS recruiter. Mediocre game planner and on- field game coach. He works hard and shows growth. The next 3 years will reveal the truth.
  17. With that High Jump pit, it's no place for the Fosbury Flop. THUD!
  18. AB has some of Adam's qualities. Check out some of his Boston College films. He's a tough and wiley competitor.
  19. Jaden Navarrette may be a candidate for some snaps that fits the profile: From Wholeflockofducks.com last year. Notable strengths: Ultra versatile: With Navarrette, it’s pick your poison. You want him on offense split out as a receiver or in-line as a tight end? No problem. You want him on defense as a stand up edge rusher, or a defensive end with his hand in the dirt? He’s got you covered there. Navarrette even excelled as a lead blocking fullback for fellow Oregon commit Jaydn Ott for the Norco rushing attack last season. Whatever your needs, Navarrette is athletic and versatile enough to fulfill your schematic wishes. Natural pass rusher: Navarrette is a natural on the football field period, but it’s his skills as an edge rusher that could make a him a potential star. His quickness off the snap, strength at the point of attack, determined mentality pursuing the quarterback, and difficult to defend spin move are eyebrow raising qualities that make him an ideal fit for Oregon’s STUD linebacker position. Knows how to use his body: This may sound like an overly vague statement, but it’s really the best way to describe Navarrette when you see him perform on film. Whether he’s deploy on offense or defense, Navarrette has a great sense of leverage and a knack for using his 6-foot-3, 235-pound frame to his advantage. This is an preternatual skill that could serve him well as he look to secure playing time in his first season. Overall outlook: The construction of Oregon’s 2020 recruiting class is in its infant stages, but already the Ducks have made a habit of pursuing big, versatile athletes (see Seth Figgins and Peter Latu). However, with Navarrette’s commitment Friday, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal may have landed the best jumbo athlete of the bunch. Navarrette could realistically play a handful of positions on offense or defense whenever he arrives in Eugene, but it appears as if he’ll get his first look as an outside linebacker/rush end.
  20. A couple of Portland girls with HEART.
  21. I grew up between Eugene and Coos Bay. My mother graduated from Marshfield High. We heard of Pre in H.S. He was in the same dorm quad as me in 1969-70. I saw him run many times and it was always thrilling. I was driving to UO on Hwy 126 from Florence the day after his last meet near Whitaker Creek when I heard the news of Pre’s death over the radio. I shuddered in disbelief and was left stunned and empty. I remember the magic of his running and his will to win. R.I.P. “Pre”
  22. There is more to being a top QB than simply the numbers. T.S. needs S&C, coaching, experience, lots of film, confidence and mental and physical toughness. IMO, he needs stiff competition and to earn the starting job. Again, in my eyes he lost it and he was not Oregon’s best option at QB the last few games of 2020. Play the one who gives our team the best chance to win at the moment. Plan for the long haul at intervals. Don’t lose games to protect the QB’s phsyche.
  23. When Kelly feels good - I feel good. He’s a straight shooter.
