  1. Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game!
  2. Time for Patrick Herbert to get his targets and rack up some yards. We are fortunate to have experienced TEs to step in, and we hope for Ferguson's rapid healing.
  3. The Buckeye fans...those poor babies! What I want to know is...who is Larry, Curley and Moe?
  4. Thanks to everyone, as not only are his photos superb, but he has always been a peach to work with. Your donations to the sites help to provide the funds to pay him, the other photographers, and all the tech people that keep the sites safe and up and running. My sincere thanks to those who have recently donated and helped out. It takes some pressure off!
  5. FishDuck.com is media credentialed with the Oregon Athletic Department, and you have to apply for a season photo pass or for individual games. Then I hire photographers to shoot the games, paying them $200.00 for usually around 100 images, sometimes more. I store them in Dropbox, and allow the writers to have access to these photos year-round for writing articles. For home games, I usually have TWO photographers shooting, so that we catch better angles, better photos and when you start doing the math on how much a long season costs--it is a ton more than you want to pay out-of-pocket. The money to pay photographers, (and the tech people, and all the tech costs) come from the advertising and the SEO Backlink orders I receive from around the world. I personally take no money from the sites, as there is not enough. But the good news is that by working hard with the SEO Backlink orders--I have almost enough to cover all costs of the two sites. The donations I receive finish off the rest of the costs. Due to this thread--I received enough in donations to pay for this week's photographer at Purdue, and I'm grateful!
  6. Deferred Compensation plans do not have to be reported, as they can be separate contracts that the public does not know about. The rumor was that Phil set up one with Dan with a reward for results, but also for longevity at Oregon, hence "Deferred" and paid later. All rumor, but hinted at in the past and could be uber-millions in NIKE stock. Golden Handcuffs?
  7. Without getting into the weeds of the math, and the Web Analytics vocabulary....here is the bottom line; assuming an intense fan who checks in three times a day, every day of the month... We get a buck a month from advertising on your visits...that's it! Not a day, but a buck a MONTH. Now most do not visit that much among the readers, and some come in more often, but when taking all the visits and dividing by the advertising revenue? The sites get paid about 1.8 cents every time you have a "session" at the sites which includes all the pages you are on. We are paid on the "sessions," and not by how many pages you read or are on. Knowing this, I roll my eyes when a rule violator threatens to no longer read the site and support it if I do not tolerate his behaviors. Yeah, right. Big loss! One of the FishDuck.com and OBD Forum founding members, Steven A., who is also a Moderator and Duck News Hunter has a reputation as the "King" of the one-liners. I went through a long explanation with him of how they calculate the advertising revenue to be paid, and when I told him that each session only generated 1.8 cents? He retorted... "So, when someone says they're giving their 2-cents on a topic....it's not even worth that!" We love you Steven A.!
  8. Below is an article I wrote about Craig "taking one for the team" a decade ago. The video is no longer available, but the short article tells the interesting story! FishDuck.com Photographer “Takes one for the Team” | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM It is fun to go down memory lane involving not only our beloved Ducks, but also members of the FishDuck.com team. In 2009 at Stanford–Oregon trailed as Jeremiah…
  9. I say he is a FishDuck Photographer, but Craig Strobeck shoots primarily for USA Today and on the weeks that he does not--will shoot for FishDuck.com and you see his photos in our articles often. He has been shooting games for me since the beginning over 13 years ago, and we share a ton of stories together. I was skeptical when a FishDuck editor told me that where she sat it "vibrated" at Autzen on Saturday because that area is not part of a structure, but is on solid concrete, which then sits on tons of dirt making the bowl of Autzen. How could concrete vibrate? Craig has been on the field shooting photos at crazy loud games before, like Michigan at home in 2003, (Before we got FieldTurf) and he told me this game was every bit as loud or worse. He said that he used ear buds as ear plugs, but it had little impact. He said that even today, Thursday, his ears are ringing still... And he said, yes, the concrete was vibrating! The legends of Autzen continue....
  10. The problem is more with the fans than the coach!
  11. Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Purdue? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Let's get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon, 45-20, 2, 4, 302
  12. Wow. As we beat Ohio State, they lose to Nevada?
  13. My impression is that the true blue-bloods, of Michigan and Ohio State were fine with our arrival, but others such as Wisconsin, Iowa and even Penn State were not excited that we could knock them all down one more place in the rankings. But now we have torqued off the ultimate Blue-Blood; isn't it sweet? The Volleyball team is No. 11 in the nation and doing well, and other sports should fare just fine. My Biggest Surprise? The officiating is every bit as bad or worse than the Pac-12, and I did not think that was possible. USC has lost two of their three games on holding or interference that were blatant, and not called. It happened to Washington last weekend, and we were certainly hosed with Ohio State getting a touchdown after we had intercepted the ball. This is going to be a REAL problem IMHO. So, if we can create frustration for them--let's do it!
  14. Good gosh...are YOU getting anything done? I cannot believe how much time I am wasting posting, searching, reading and howling with Duck-Buddies on the phone. This is terrible for productivity.... But then...Oregon is No. 2 in the nation and we have a chance to win the B1G, go 12-0 and have a shot at the 'Natty! So we gotta SAVOR this journey!
  15. Maybe....but this is one example is why the stats for making 4th downs are not good; anything can happen! Play the odds, Dan. Take the damn points on 4th down! You had three other downs to get it done for seven points....
  16. I love how he came up with this, but it does not remove the fact that his judgment almost cost Oregon the game. 4th and 2....you take the damn points. Then you have a four-point lead, and the whole discussion of Ohio State getting in FG range is moot. Going for it on 4th down has the odds they do...for a reason. He will have to lose another game or two by not playing the odds until he learns!
  17. "That game was just a bad dream....just a bad dream....just a WHAT Dream?"
