  1. BTW...their starters at guard were already going to have thin numbers in reserve, and now... Be grateful that Lanning has loaded up the way he has! That is a big Duck at guard, in Steven Jones, No. 74. And another Oregon site says that the Huskies have very little experience in Running Backs behind the starter who was injured.
  2. If it was Oregon State? I'm sure they would be blaming Oregon....
  3. Boy, you read the written transcript of what Tosh said in his interview? Whew! That guy has been in coaching a long time, and knows how to say a TON....and not tell us anything new. That is a skill, you know. And that is what they all do when you have closed spring and fall practices--they tell us nothing. After the actual football games--there is no place to hide; they can't spin off stuff because we all saw the game. We can learn a lot from coaches after a game, but from practices? You could transplant everything a coach was saying at another conference team on the same day....with hardly a difference. A SID (Sports Information Director) once told me...."the only thing more paranoid than a Basketball coach....is a football coach!" Hence the tortuous coach-speak...
  4. I completely agree with this, and I would like to think that in a year or two we can challenge Ohio State for the best.
  5. See post number 6 below for update.... On other sites they say it is in downtown Dallas.... and considering all the Texas players joining us? Good call.
  6. I completely agree. I believe he is building the core of the team now, and then will add with high quality talent each via HS, and as you said--plug holes with the portal or take advantage of what comes your way. For example...a portal QB coming to us this next winter could hurt the QB room in terms of attitude. Yet do you want to start 2024 with an experienced or inexperienced QB? What to do about that decision?
  7. This was already reported this morning on this forum. Please read all the threads below the top few.... He is not going to be a 2024 scholarship.
  8. This is what Coaches do these days, and Lanning caught on. It does not matter if it was Bellotti, Chip, Taggart, Cristobal or Dano....scrimmage reports leave me with...
  9. Very few in the media know how to line up the defensive depth chart. There is NO Sam, Will or Mike linebacker, as we only have two linebackers in the 4-2-5 MINT defense. We have a JACK linebacker, a MAC linebacker, and a fifth defensive back, the STAR.
  10. What is fascinating to me is how Lanning fixed the linebacker problem by recruiting a ton of defensive backs. The LB recruiting was coming up short, but Coach 'Meat was super with safeties and corners. Thus recruiting a boatload of portal DBs....he could move safeties Bryce Bettcher, and Jamal Hill to MONEY linebacker to help solve that problem. That, and adding weight.
  11. But that turnover is stunning...nothing like it before. It is a negative event brought about primarily by positive results...great Lanning recruiting, but....Man! Mario knew what he was doing....right?
  12. I know this was posted in the podcasts thread, and it is 55 minutes long--but it is not boring at all. You learn a TON about Will Stein, and will feel not just better about him, but highly encouraged. For a fun lunchtime, or something at night--I highly recommend it. This young man has been winning at every football stage in his life starting as a quarterback at kindergarten age....for the 3rd/4th grader team! He was a walk-on college quarterback who became the starter at Louisville until injury stopped him. He is only 5'9" and thus has to think his way through things on the field, of which has been a natural transition into a coach. He is VERY energetic, and always has been, although we did not see it much in the spring due to getting acquainted with the Ducks. He is dedication to "bringing the passion" to his players, and I do not think you will see much difference in that department from Kenny Dillingham. Some quotes were... "My job is to make sure we're scoring touchdowns. How do we do that? Run it 50 times, and throw it 50 times.." "Give them a plan, go practice it, and then let them play. I want them to play-free." "Don't overcomplicate the game." Mighty Oregon Podcast: Will Stein - University of Oregon Athletics GODUCKS.COM The latest episode of the Mighty Oregon Podcast features first-year offensive coordinator Will Stein.
  13. An Oregon QB, and boy is Stein busy! He is going on a Mormon mission, thus will be back at Oregon in 2026-2027. North Salem’s TC Manumaleuna commits to Oregon Ducks WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM A three-star prospect in the class of 2024, Manumaleuna announced his commitment to the Ducks Sunday night.
  14. My FishDuck Friends, this is an amazing but true story here with the Our Beloved Ducks, and one that shocked me. It has significant ramifications going forward that generates some real pondering by all Duck-Buddies. Oregon’s Record Recruiting Class…That Never Was FISHDUCK.COM I was on top of the world as an Oregon fan in 2021, as Mario Cristobal secured the greatest recruiting class in the history of Oregon football, the best in over…
  15. More loser-logic. What Beaver fans forget or ignore, is that Phil Knight did not help Oregon until after we had already gone to the Rose Bowl in 1994 by ON OUR OWN, and then went to the Cotton Bowl ON OUR OWN. After that, did Phil come forward to begin helping, but even then, with the new indoor practice facility, it was Ed Mosjofsky, who made the biggest donation, and hence why it has his name. Winners want to work with winners, and you have to do it on your own first, and Oregon State fans don’t realize that… Our wonderful baseball facility, PK Park, was primarily donated from Pat Kilkenny, who grew up in Heppner, Oregon, went to Oregon, and then went off and built in Insurance empire. Nobody even knew he was on the radar, but he shows up when Oregon goes to the Rose Bowl. Winners want to work with winners, and the Beavers are not. Beavers want to blame everyone else, and give no credit because it would shine a light on the failures of their own leaders.
  16. The transcript of the Lanning press conference is a perfect example of why I don’t go to them anymore. A ton of coach speak, a ton of blah blah, where he tells you nothing, and then, in many cases, will issue questions back at the reporters. You got very little from his answers. The offense did well at times, and the defense did well at times! What revelations!
  17. In 1991 when Oregon only won three games due to massive injuries...the Beavers won the Civil War (14-3) for their only win of the year, (1-10) they actually made and distributed a video for OSU fans that was titled... "We Own the State" Doesn't that define a loser mentality?
  18. So true, as Lanning killed it in the portal last year--which will be evident as the season progresses. It makes sense to pay NIL to proven players, versus high school players with upside. Ducks have a budget, and are probably saving for portal transfers.
