Is Oregon Flashy Enough for Bo To Win a Heisman?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
David--I was not aware of the important stats you cited, and I do appreciate the information and perspective. The question that is imbedded within your article is, "if you had a choice between an offense that is more reliant on the Quarterback, or an offense that is more balanced and has a better chance of winning a Natty....which do you pick?" I pick the balanced offense every time; not only can your team go farther, but the chance still remains for a shot at a Heisman simply from all the winning. Fantastic stat about how many TDs Bo has rushed for this year compared to last--whoa. Between that and what you wrote concerning the ball-control happening with the passing attack, it makes me appreciate that much more what Will Stein is doing for Bo and the Oregon offense. Great article-thanks! -

Breaking: Edge Elijah Rushing Flipping to Oregon?
Charles Fischer replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In the end...you simply need to have faith that, "Dan will get his." -
The proud B1G conference should re-think the entry of the men of Washington into their prestigious conference. Note I stated the men, because the female athletes in Seattle are at least marginally acceptable to join, but their male counterparts should be ignored and soundly rejected. Canzano: Oregon to Get a Rude Awakening in the B1G?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The consensus here believes that Oregon will grow their audience in the B1G, between all the television opportunities...the question is how much of an increase? Meanwhile had we stayed with the Pac-12....not only was the money going to be half of B1G revenues over time, but our audience could shrink from primarily being on streaming before the rest of the country had adapted. This end is not what I wanted, but I am going to make the best of it, and clearly--it is best for Oregon, given the options. (IMHO) -
Breaking: Edge Elijah Rushing Flipping to Oregon?

The teeth gnashing at other sites when Rushing announced to Arizona was amazing. Talk about massive over-reaction, like the Dr. Pepper commercial... "I am never watching Oregon football again." -
Dan Lanning: The Details Matter in Recruiting
Charles Fischer replied to Augduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I am not surprised that USC would ignore that, but I am very surprised that Mario would. The one thing he is good at is recruiting, and perhaps there is not much of an LDS community there? I cannot imagine that there is not one, since they are in every community. Oregon has had a large LDS community in Eugene, and among the players. A temple is down the way from my street, and I recall how important it was for Haloti Ngata when he came to Eugene. And nice scoop Augduck, as I appreciate it when so many bring information here.- 1 reply

He has 16 of the 4/5-Star players on Rivals, of which equals his class last year that was the second best ever at Oregon. Can he match the best of Cristobal's 19 in 2021? 2024 Oregon Ducks football commitment list OREGON.RIVALS.COM The definitive source for all Oregon news. Or should he NOT go for record and save scholarships for the portal?

Rivals is the harder, and more consistent rating service. Rushing is offered by Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas....anybody who is good. This is very big, considering he is the number 1JC recruit in the nation. He is going to be crucial, considering the people out of the secondary that we lose at the end of the season. I did not anticipate this, and it is a massive win for the Oregon staff and “Meat” Martin. Make that 16 of 4/5-Star players we want!

The word is, he is not going to select any of the three finalists, and is going to go with Penn State instead!

B1G: How Much Bigger Will Oregon's Audience Grow?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Such a much bigger audience! Interesting point...I've gotta think that there are partnership opportunities that I cannot even imagine yet. Good stuff. -
Ducks Improve Historically in 2023
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ha! You are going to love my article tomorrow! -
Our Beloved Ducks are still in the top ten in the nation, and I would like to think we may climb before the season is done. Holding scholarships for portal players might be a priority though with such an exodus of players leaving as discussed in yesterday's FishDuck article. Below is where the Huskies are, and the good news is that they've climbed above from No. 59 the last time we checked! (To No. 50!) Yep, going into the B1G next year--Oregon has 15 of the 4/5-Star players, while Washington has just 5 from this recruiting class. Just the way we like it!

I know we have bigger fish to fry with it being Husky Hate Week, but I cannot help but ponder how the number of people who actively watch Oregon will grow beginning next year. The reasons are quite numerous... 1. We will not be on a network that is unavailable to most households. 2. We will be on the biggest stations, and usually available for viewing at Eastern time slots.(These first two alone could be a 30% bump...) 3. We will be involved in many more blockbuster games--with teams the public knows better than those on the west coast. 4. We will get the applause and recognition granted to a super-conference; the absence of the side-swipes or put-downs being the Pac-12 will improve our image. 5. We will be bringing thousands of fans to B1G stadiums, and hosting even more to our stadium, of which will increase viewing over the years by those with a "Eugene" experience. What reasons do you have for our audience growth, and how much larger do you think it will be five years? I know it sounds kooky, but I really believe we could have a 50% larger global audience in five years. Why? Because we are going to be darned entertaining to watch! Thoughts?

I Wonder How the "Meltdown" Fans Feel Now?

Oh....if we'd had last year's or this year's offense with that defense? Natty time. -
College Football - A Few Musings on Week 6
Charles Fischer replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I actually would like to play UCLA in the Pac-12 Championship game because if we get that game...we will have beaten nearly all the tough teams on our schedule. It is very hard to beat the same team twice in one season, and since we do not play the Bruins...it would also add spectator interest to the game. But first--we have a big step on Saturday... -
I recall all these Miami fans who emailed me....taunting me about how they stole our coach, and how recruiting is the most important thing. No matter how many examples I gave, or some logic about how being a great coach is more than just recruiting--they ignored it. They knew better, and were laughing, and yet they could not understand why we Oregon fans were delighted he was leaving. I imagine that they have remembered my warnings several times in the last year and a half! My gosh we lucked out losing Mari, and gaining Danno.

Ducks Improve Historically in 2023
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Maybe. Maybe not. We could lose this game, beat them in the Pac-12 Championship and still make the Playoff.
