  1. Good gosh…what a Maroon! Clearly, a very young writer with no sense of CFB history. Or just lazy. It takes very little research to see that Oregon had that in the past…like check the History section in the Oregon Football Repository at FishDuck.com! (Misspelling in the first sentence is intentional)
  2. Well, that and lessons from Elaine in Seinfeld!
  3. Hello My FishDuck Friends, As I've made reference to a few times recently--I am now officially divorced after 43 years. This has been a very amicable parting, as I believe both of us are good people who simply want to move on in our final years without each other. In fact we have been living as "tolerant roommates" through the divorce, and through the house sale--as we have been for years. Considering the divorce horror stories from so many Duck-Buddies...I am very fortunate, as we had a very fair distribution of assets, and we are able to get things done in normal speaking tones. I truly wish her well, and will stay in touch, I'm sure. I will remain in the Eugene-Springfield area to remain close to my daughter, and of course, Our Beloved Ducks. We have accepted an offer on our house, and close on February 20th, assuming the inspections go as usual. (I do not anticipate any issues) Thus I will be a busy-boy finding an interim place to live, and taking the time needed to go through, move, and store the stuff of 43 years. We have always been fairly lean, so it should not be too bad. I will not make any permanent living decisions for quite a while--as to own, rent, etc. For now I will go into a temporary rental of some type, (once I find it) and then take my time checking out all the interesting living options in the community. I am counting my blessings that we are completing this now, and especially after football season! I won't lose any digital copies of the games as a result, and the expected problems with my fragile electronic equipment can be dealt with due to having two months to work with before the Spring Game. I will be beginning my Planned Giving Workshops again this spring with churches and non-profits, showing people how to leave a gift after their passing that when designed correctly--can really help retired people live better in retirement while leaving a Planned Gift. I've set up millions of dollars in Planned Gifts over the years, and look forward to making an impact in the community over the next decade. And I will be here in the OBD forum with all of you for my all-consuming passion, Our Beloved Ducks. We have great times ahead as Duck fans, and my commitment to this forum and FishDuck.com remains unwavering. Boy, I am going to miss my Oregon Football ManCave, but yet...never-say-never. If any of you have advice on anything concerning my upcoming journey, do email me as I welcome all feedback. charles@fishduck.com
  4. I cannot recall who, but an astute OBD member here pointed out that since Dillon Gabriel is left-handed, this means his blind side is on the right side. I just assumed that Josh Connerly will guard our new QB just fine with all his experience, but now I realize it is the tackle on the other side who is Gabriel's blind-side protector. Thus Ajani Cornelius becomes that much more crucial, and we have not heard if he is going to the NFL or not. If we had a newbie at that important right offensive tackle? Not good... I would like to think that another year would improve Cornelius's draft stock, and now especially being the blind-side protector...that could really up his stock, and give him great experience with that pressure. C'mon man!
  5. I think of all the great recruits of the last two years, and think of the Ducks with lots of young talent. But among the starters? TONS of experience in the entire offense, and on defense we have both inside linebackers, and now with three of five DBs filled with experience. At the moment, we will have some new starters on the defensive line, but we don’t know the extent until the portal transfers are fully known. We have an abundance of young talent on the defensive line, but not a lot of experience yet. That is only real area of youth on the team, IMHO. Overall, Ryan, you quite right, even if with some tongue-in-cheek.
  6. This is B1G... (Boy we really need him!)
  7. It is rumored that CJ Daniels of Liberty (who went into the portal) is visiting Texas, and is thought to be visiting Oregon after that. In my film study of Liberty--I thought he was an outstanding receiver, who did a great job of going up and just finding a way to come down with the ball. Often the QB would just throw it up and let him outjump the competition. I was impressed with him, and felt that Oregon's focus on taking him out of the game was a major component by our defense in the Fiesta Bowl victory. We allowed him some short passes and slants, but nothing deep downfield. The mystery visitor this weekend is Jamaree Caldwell, a sizeable defensive lineman from Houston. Ja'Maree Caldwell is a Defensive Lineman from Mount Holly, NC 247SPORTS.COM summary
  8. Yes! So talk about jumping-the-gun!
  9. I made the mistake last year of not paying attention to the portal transfers until after the Spring Game, as I was shocked at what I saw. This year I am going to study the portal transfer players carefully before the Spring Game, and really watch to see if they can help as the coaches hope. As noted above--there is a TON of talent on this team, and most of it is quite young and has to be sorted out. We will have more transfers out after the Spring Game when some players see they are at the bottom of the depth chart.
  10. "The Enemy of My Enemy...Still Needs to be Thrashed." Ducks win 89-84! Oregon Mens Basketball plays the Cougars in Pullman tonight at 7:00 PM on ESPNU
  11. Thanks for posting this, as it is BIG for next year's defense!
  12. Yep, the Pac-Whatever is recognized for what it is...another Mountain West conference.
  13. Noah is the fastest running back, and is deadly coming out of the backfield receiving passes. He did fantastic under Dilly doing that, but with the Stein offense? Whew! A long receiving TD in this game...
  14. The problems with negative emojis, and/or thumbs down (downvotes) are much greater than the benefits. People get offended really easy if there a lot of downvotes and won't post again, someone doesn't like someone else and always downvotes that person, etc. People use downvotes as a way to discourage posting of certain opinions on certain topics... Been there, done that. Would I bring the downvotes back?
  15. Bassa and Jacobs back at inside linebacker is huge for 2024!
  16. Yep, we had a “thread-hyjack” going on… Back to the damn Huskies!
  17. Players like Tysheem Johnson, (below) and Holden on offense will improve even more with one more year...
  18. This also means the pool of transfer QBs for USC is drying up....
  19. With that offense? Not much downside!
  20. Whoops! Apparently that was a hoax, and I thank the OBD member in that area, Notalot, for researching and confirming that the tweet at the top is not true.
  21. You have not read all that has written about this issue. Phil did not help Oregon until we went to the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl on our own. Winners want to work with winners, and we had to prove it on our own first. Oregon State has not done anything like that, and besides--they have tons of alumni who have done well in business, yet have not been attracted to the program. Again...not Oregon's fault. Even with that first project...the indoor facility bears the name of the major donor at the time Ed Moshofsky, a former Oregon player who helped get the project going.
