  1. I should be more torn than I am, and I am curious as to what this great community thinks. The Christian in me wants to "give Ty another chance since he did his best yet at the end of the spring game." "Charles...people, players, improve and grow. Perhaps Will Stein has connected with him unlike prior coaches?" The rational analyst in me says, "you have seen enough of Thompson over two years, as greatness did not emerge early. Give Novosad tons of reps and see if the upside is there. If not, then go back to trying Thompson." The first game against Portland State is a perfect opportunity, and there will be others through the season. Of course it is also a risk of burning a year playing beyond four games for Novosad, but since so few college QBs play four years, and considering the QB recruiting coming in behind him--I would ignore that component and play him as much as possible to prepare him in case Bo gets injured, or for the 2024 campaign. I have the highlight video below geared to start at the play I want you to see--a wonderful long pass by Novosad that fits into Stein's "Bird-Bomb" offense. But note how he throws a very accurate, and yet catchable pass on shorter routes as well. Remember, he was offered by Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, Notre Dame and Ohio State. What do YOU think? Am I being too harsh?
  2. Throwing mud on the wall, since being a great QB is so difficult. A stretch of Kelly/Helfrich had four QBs who were Rivals 4-Stars, but did not work out. You recruit boatloads and find out who can play, and if you recruit too many--as long as you have your winner--another winner can transfer out. To me, the only glaring weakness on this team is at No. 2 QB, thus the whole season can be lost on one play.
  3. They don't want to play night games in November...and yet they are used to it? I am picturing the LA schools, and laughing. Looks like push-back on streaming, oh-my!
  4. If you wish to see the bracket, you can go right here and if you click on a team--you can see their scores. (And yes...Washington did pull out a 7-6 victory over the pesky McNeese to advance) Pac-12: Four teams-Oregon, Stanford, Utah and Washington ACC: Three teams SEC: Three teams (You would think it would be more considering their coverage!) Big-12: Three teams B1G: One team MTW: One team
  5. It's official; McNeese won that game, but a final game is being played at 5:30 PM PDT with the winner moving to the Super-Regionals. Congrats to Utah winning, and it appears that Oklahoma State has won and Oregon will play there next weekend.
  6. Brutal and true. The Sports section does not cover minor sports at Oregon, meaning ZERO about Oregon Baseball. But they offer some skimpy coverage of high school sports to encourage people to take the paper while their kids are in school. Oregon football covered from Salem, but we get far more news right here on OBD! The political takes/omissions are...massively unbalanced and not objective at all. A great example of where journalism has gone, and it is sad. Eugene Register-Guard languishes under Gannett, nation’s largest newspaper chain WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Parent company Gannett's massive debt has exacted a toll on local newspapers.
  7. I see that at the end of the 3rd inning in the Seattle Regional Softball final, McNeese State has a 1-0 lead on Washington, which brought a hoot/snort from me. I want Pac-12 teams to show well, but you have to admit--it would be pretty funny! Shouldn't I be honorable and root for the conference? I never said I was noble...
  8. Gotta love that she is from Eugene, Oregon and a graduate of Marist!
  9. That score in the title? I did not see that one coming! Congrats to the women as they made the Super-Regional round of sixteen, and more information will be posted here as it becomes available.
  10. Something is not right....it says the bottom of the 5th inning, which means Arkansas should be batting, but they show an improved score of 9-4 for Oregon. So either they have the score messed up on the NCAA site, or they have the inning wrong? Sheesh.
  11. 5-4 Oregon...top of the 5th inning. I do not either, but you can always go to GoDucks.com, go to Softball, Schedule, and scroll down to the game and click on "Live Stats," as I do.
  12. I think that is true at QB, where it makes sense to embrace your strategy of getting a bunch of guys who have upside, but going to the portal for an experienced QB in the meantime.
  13. The No. 1 ranked QB recruit to come to Oregon...is a surprise. Especially considering all the successful QBs who have come to Oregon. The number of "busts" in that top-15 is pretty astounding, and shows that recruiting stars is not always the best predictor of success.
  14. Husky moderator explaining Washington recruiting..... "The Oregon staff is not even within 100 miles of Seattle..." "Everything is fine, as we are winning!"
  15. Love it. Be under the radar…hardly noticed, even disrespected. Thus we can surprise opponents, and win the big games. Respect will come then… Respect should come after we have earned it, not before.
  16. This is from Steve Wiltfong at National 247, who is a pretty good recruiting analyst and reporter of football recruiting. On Saturday, Lanning and company hosted several other top targets for a scavenger hunt in Eugene which showed off all the bells and whistles of the school and football program along the way. “It’s the energy that Coach Lanning brings!” 247Sports’s 5-Star No. 1 offensive tackle recruit Brandon Baker said. “He has an energy about him, a strong passion and belief of greats things to come. He believes they’ll be a big-time program soon. I can see it building.” Baker was joined on campus by his Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei teammates in fellow 5-Star in defensive lineman Aydin Breland and touted receiver Jack Ressler. Oregon is near the top of the list for Baker and Breland alongside a few others and may just be the one to beat for Ressler. “I had a great time,” Breland said. “The experience was great. I felt at home in Eugene this weekend and I really appreciate Dan Lanning and his coaching staff for taking the time and explaining their plan for me as far as development. Like I’ve said before the genuine family feel I get from Dan Lanning, Tosh Lupoi and Tony Tuioti is real.” Oregon had a few commits back on campus including offensive linemen Trent Ferguson and Fox Crader along with tight end AJ Pugliano, and other prized recruits included 247Sports’ No 3 running back Jason Brown. Oregon also hosted a handful of offered prospects in the 2025 and 2026 class. “It was very great,” Spanaway (Wash.) Bethel Top247 linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale said. “I liked the atmosphere of the coaches and how the hospitality was towards me and my mother, and I liked the energy and how fired up they were to be around me and my FSP brothers and it was just a good time to learn about some of things they did as a college and also off the field and how they love to help others in the community and it just made me smile and will forever be a special moment visiting there.” “My latest experience was amazing,” Auburn (Wash.) Riverside Top247 athlete Jonathan Epperson said. “I had a lot of fun. What continues to fire me up about the Ducks program is that fact our relationship is doing nothing but growing and we’re doing nothing but getting closer. I love the family feel and the effort they put in to making sure I feel at home and that I am taken care of.” “It was a great visit,” Concord (Calif.) De La Salle safety Robert Santiago said. “Every time I get up it’s something new I learn about Eugene and the Ducks. I love the coaches and I love the facilities. They make it special every time I get a chance to come up and visit.” Santiago added he liked the coaching staff and they can develop him on and off the field. “Oregon is pretty high on my list and will always be high, but I’m just trying see how far I can go with my recruitment,” Santiago said.
  17. We enjoyed the banter, and you are always quite welcome to chime into the conversation. You are the only "Dawgs" we like to converse with! Because Huskies are not very smart...
