  1. Yep. Good for them, as we need an emerging team to keep Utah honest in the South beyond this year. Oregon will get theirs....
  2. "Oregon has more 4/5-Star players than the entire Pac-12 doubled!" "When it comes to recruiting, if Oregon stays in the Pac-12 long term...this a shark swimming in a lake." "They have stacked defensive front-seven like no one else has in that conference." (Between prep and portal recruiting) Great quotes!
  3. Your take is reasonable, but I do not think it is realistic as there is not enough garbage time in the games to do that, IMHO.
  4. Fantastic observation and stat--thank you. There is the largest concentration of billionaires in the Seattle-Metro area of anywhere in the world. There are no excuses, as the prospects are there and instead getting mad at Oregon--they should get mad at their own Tyee Club, NIL organization or UW Development Dept. But wait! That is not our culture anymore....to attach blame where deserved.
  5. I should be more torn than I am, and I am curious as to what this great community thinks. The Christian in me wants to "give Ty another chance since he did his best yet at the end of the spring game." "Charles...people, players, improve and grow. Perhaps Will Stein has connected with him unlike prior coaches?" The rational analyst in me says, "you have seen enough of Thompson over two years, as greatness did not emerge early. Give Novosad tons of reps and see if the upside is there. If not, then go back to trying Thompson." The first game against Portland State is a perfect opportunity, and there will be others through the season. Of course it is also a risk of burning a year playing beyond four games for Novosad, but since so few college QBs play four years, and considering the QB recruiting coming in behind him--I would ignore that component and play him as much as possible to prepare him in case Bo gets injured, or for the 2024 campaign. I have the highlight video below geared to start at the play I want you to see--a wonderful long pass by Novosad that fits into Stein's "Bird-Bomb" offense. But note how he throws a very accurate, and yet catchable pass on shorter routes as well. Remember, he was offered by Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, Notre Dame and Ohio State. What do YOU think? Am I being too harsh?
  6. Throwing mud on the wall, since being a great QB is so difficult. A stretch of Kelly/Helfrich had four QBs who were Rivals 4-Stars, but did not work out. You recruit boatloads and find out who can play, and if you recruit too many--as long as you have your winner--another winner can transfer out. To me, the only glaring weakness on this team is at No. 2 QB, thus the whole season can be lost on one play.
  7. They don't want to play night games in November...and yet they are used to it? I am picturing the LA schools, and laughing. Looks like push-back on streaming, oh-my!
  8. If you wish to see the bracket, you can go right here and if you click on a team--you can see their scores. (And yes...Washington did pull out a 7-6 victory over the pesky McNeese to advance) Pac-12: Four teams-Oregon, Stanford, Utah and Washington ACC: Three teams SEC: Three teams (You would think it would be more considering their coverage!) Big-12: Three teams B1G: One team MTW: One team
  9. It's official; McNeese won that game, but a final game is being played at 5:30 PM PDT with the winner moving to the Super-Regionals. Congrats to Utah winning, and it appears that Oklahoma State has won and Oregon will play there next weekend.
  10. Brutal and true. The Sports section does not cover minor sports at Oregon, meaning ZERO about Oregon Baseball. But they offer some skimpy coverage of high school sports to encourage people to take the paper while their kids are in school. Oregon football covered from Salem, but we get far more news right here on OBD! The political takes/omissions are...massively unbalanced and not objective at all. A great example of where journalism has gone, and it is sad. Eugene Register-Guard languishes under Gannett, nation’s largest newspaper chain WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Parent company Gannett's massive debt has exacted a toll on local newspapers.
  11. I see that at the end of the 3rd inning in the Seattle Regional Softball final, McNeese State has a 1-0 lead on Washington, which brought a hoot/snort from me. I want Pac-12 teams to show well, but you have to admit--it would be pretty funny! Shouldn't I be honorable and root for the conference? I never said I was noble...
  12. Gotta love that she is from Eugene, Oregon and a graduate of Marist!
  13. That score in the title? I did not see that one coming! Congrats to the women as they made the Super-Regional round of sixteen, and more information will be posted here as it becomes available.
  14. Something is not right....it says the bottom of the 5th inning, which means Arkansas should be batting, but they show an improved score of 9-4 for Oregon. So either they have the score messed up on the NCAA site, or they have the inning wrong? Sheesh.
  15. 5-4 Oregon...top of the 5th inning. I do not either, but you can always go to GoDucks.com, go to Softball, Schedule, and scroll down to the game and click on "Live Stats," as I do.
  16. I think that is true at QB, where it makes sense to embrace your strategy of getting a bunch of guys who have upside, but going to the portal for an experienced QB in the meantime.
  17. The No. 1 ranked QB recruit to come to Oregon...is a surprise. Especially considering all the successful QBs who have come to Oregon. The number of "busts" in that top-15 is pretty astounding, and shows that recruiting stars is not always the best predictor of success.
  18. Husky moderator explaining Washington recruiting..... "The Oregon staff is not even within 100 miles of Seattle..." "Everything is fine, as we are winning!"
  19. Love it. Be under the radar…hardly noticed, even disrespected. Thus we can surprise opponents, and win the big games. Respect will come then… Respect should come after we have earned it, not before.
