Predicting 2023 Pac-12 Football Win Totals
Charles Fischer replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
These are not people betting on college football. These are SEO and Marketing firms who are tasked with getting their gambling site clients ranked higher in a Google search for gambling. Thus they pay to place links of their gambling site clients on another site that has much higher Google ranking such as FishDuck. The gambling sites will on occasion deal with college football, and sometimes the NFL; most often (since this is in other countries) it is betting on Soccer matches. I've even had betting sites for Cricket pay for a link on FishDuck. A strange industry that did not exist ten years ago, and I wish I did not have to hassle with it. But I gotta pay the bills... -
Predicting 2023 Pac-12 Football Win Totals
Charles Fischer replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As a reminder to all--the links placed in FishDuck articles help to pay the FishDuck and OBD Forum bills. I have not placed a single bet on any of them, as it is "not my bag." I have some serious vices, but gambling is not one of them. Recently I put together a list of the locations around the world that the companies that have paid for links in FishDuck articles contact me and are billed from. Locations of SEO Firms Globally: London, England, UK Tallinn, Estonia Hong Kong New Westminster, Canada Stockholm, Sweden Vilnius, Lithuania Tel Aviv, Israel Tel Aviv, Israel Prague, Czech Republic Rigg, Latvia AR Rayyan, Qatar Singapore Saint Etienne, France Markovo, Bulgaria Panama City, Panama Limassol, Cyprus Barcelona, Spain Kyiv, Ukraine Tamil, India Sliema, Malta Vestergaard, Denmark Budapest, Romania Tbilisi, Georgia Port Louis, Mauritius Csomad, Hungary Below (red dot) is where Port Louis is, on the island of Mauritius. ESPN Not Interested in Pac-10 Tier One Media Rights?
Charles Fischer replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It is all crap, as two different sources reported that the CBS report is completely wrong. Canzano has confirmed in his article today that ESPN is in negotiations with the Pac-12 for Tier-1 rights, and because Fox still have Pacific time zone slots to fill....they too are still in negotiations with the Pac-12 for games. Throw in Apple and we have some robust discussions taking place. Thus, just about everything presented by CBS over the last couple of months is disinformation/false/lies. Sad to see how the ethics of political reporting has now seeped into sports. -
As discussed in the article and in posts prior to this--Oregon will have SIX very experienced offensive linemen available this fall. One was held out of the Spring Game due to injury, thus only half of the offensive lines for both teams had experienced offensive linemen. No surprise the very deep defensive line spanked them often. We will have a very good offensive line this fall, and the running game will be superb...IMHO.

Many would say that $10 a ticket is a giveaway. Yet those who attended to an Oregon spring game had an admission of only three cans of sliced green beans! The Colorado PR people did a fantastic job of creating interest, and creating some revenue. Kudos to them! Now, let’s Butt-Kick the Buffaloes!

"What a weekend at Oregon! Something is HAPPENING up there! I don't think people are picking up what Oregon is putting down right now!" "Defensive personnel has been MASSIVELY upgraded at Oregon." "When at the UCLA game in Autzen this last fall....I was checking the vibe of program? They got it better than about 98% of the places that I go!" "The fan base knows they got something good going on up there." "It is my duty to tell you that Oregon is going to be pretty darn good this year."

(Press Release from Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. – After leading Oregon to a 4-1 week and a series win over No. 12 Arizona State last week with a 1.595 OPS, Drew Cowley has been named one of Collegiate Baseball’s Players of the Week. Cowley (Upland, Calif. / Upland HS) batted .421 with four home runs and 10 RBI in the five games against Gonzaga and Arizona State. He finished the week with three multiple-hit games while reaching base multiple times in all five contests, finishing with a .542 on-base percentage and a 1.053 slugging percentage. The Ducks’ shortstop opened the week going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in an 11-4 Oregon win. He wrapped up the two-game Gonzaga series reaching base three times (1-for-3, 2 BB) in the finale. Against Arizona State, Cowley drove in seven runs while homering three times. He homered twice, including a grand slam, in an 11-5 game-one win while matching a career high with five RBI. In game two, he homered again while reaching base three times (2-for-4, HBP) with a pair of runs batted in and a run scored. In the series finale, he walked and was hit by a pitch. Cowley is the fourth Oregon position player to earn a weekly honor from Collegiate Baseball. He joins third baseman Sabin Ceballos, left fielder Tanner Smith and catcher Josiah Cromwick. Our offensive line situation right now is normal to me; we have six players who are experienced, tough and can start and play at a couple of positions. Rarely do we have true two or three deep experienced talent at offensive line. But I do love some of the young-guns coming up, and with some playing time will turn into starters in 2024. By contrast...the defensive line depth is huge; we DO have a three-deep between returning players, portal transfers and an impressive newbie in Matayo Ug. I have absolutely no concerns about the offensive line or defensive line. This team now looks strong, and deep with the exception of the most important position on the field, IMHO. Ty...it is a head-scratcher to us too.

Hayward....that summarizes my thoughts about the defense, and you wrote it best. I overlooked what the total impact of what the portal transfers could be....because added to all the veterans and newbies on defense--this could end up being a very good defense this fall! (And the coaching is evident) Agree?

I can't believe I did that! As I was keyboarding it...I was thinking "Chase" but when the fingers punched it came out Chad and I did not even pick it up in proofreading! Goes to show how that 1994 team changed Oregon football and is burned into our subconscious. Good catch, and it is now corrected--thanks!

In today's Eugene paper--Lanning was quoted as being pleased with how most of the kickoffs were deep in the end zone, or out of it. Both Cam Lewis and Andrew Boyle were doing that, although I give Cam the nod for a few yards longer. Punting averaged nearly 42 yards between both teams, thus it was not fantastic--but an improvement. Good stuff!
