2-2 after three innings. Oregon's Sanford got shaky, but so did Michigan pitching, as the Ducks scored on a wild pitch. But we had bases-loaded with no outs...and only got one run? Waz does not like bunting down the first base line as I do for a sacrifice to score, as I'd trade an out for a run all day when you have 27 outs in a game. I am really looking for the highly acclaimed Will Sanford that we've heard about from fall practice. He has an ERA over 5, and has not done well the last couple of outings. It is said he has four great pitches, but I'd settle for a couple right now! The Throw-Back unis are cool...

1-0 Ducks after two innings from a Mason Neville home run. Oregon starter Will Sanford has given up a couple of hits, but has settled into a groove with fast-balls and sliders. The Michigan pitcher has kept our batters at bay as well, so with the drizzly rain...this might be a day for the pitchers. Coach Waz said in the pregame interview that the Wolverines still have a great starter, reliever and closer on their staff who have not been utilized yet, and we are seeing that is true with their starter.

Duck Baseball Run-Rules Wolverines...13-3!

Ducks Clinch Series, Walsh Sets Another Record EUGENE, Ore. — Jacob Walsh added to his legacy at Oregon on Saturday afternoon while leading No. 15 Oregon to a second run-rule and series clinching win over Michigan at PK Park in front of 4,130 fans. The Ducks’ senior first baseman added the program’s career RBI record to his resume while reaching base four times (2-for-3, 2 BB), hitting a home run and driving in four runs in a 13-3, 8-inning win over the Wolverines. Walsh now owns three career Oregon records, adding the RBI mark to the home run and multi-RBI records he set earlier in his career. How it Happened: Anson Aroz continued to swing a hot bat to start the game. After homering in the Ducks’ last five games, the Ducks’ leftfielder gave UO an early lead with a two-run ground-rule double in the first scoring Mason Neville and Jeffery Heard with two outs. Michigan (16-14, 7-7 Big Ten) took the lead with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth and another run in the fifth, but Oregon regained the lead it in its half of the fifth. The Ducks loaded the bases on two walks and a hit-by-pitch before Chase Meggers drove in the tying run with a fielder’s choice. Maddox Molony After an Aroz walk loaded the bases again, Maddox Molony pulled a 2-2 pitch through the hole between short and third scoring Heard and Meggers for a two-run lead. Back-to-back walks to pinch-hitter Dominic Hellman and Ryan Cooney push the lead to 6-3. Oregon (22-8, 10-4 Big Ten) added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Walsh delivered his record-breaking RBI after Mason Neville walked to leadoff the inning. Walsh smoked a full-count pitch over the left-center field wall for a two-run homer to push the UO lead to 8-3. Meggers followed the Walsh homer with a double into the right-field corner and eventually scored on a wild pitch for a six-run lead. The Ducks weren’t done, adding three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth to end the game. After a pair of walks and a bunt hit to lead off the seventh loaded the bases, Walsh came to the plate and added to his RBI record ripping a base hit between first and second that scored Carter Garate and Neville. Meggers tacked on a sacrifice flying scoring Heard for a nine-run lead. In the eighth, Cooney singled before stealing second and moving to third on a Garate fly out to center. He ended the game scoring on a wild pitch. Box Score Notes: The attendance matched the sixth largest crowd in stadium history and the largest regular-season crowd as well … Walsh now has 162 career RBI, breaking Tanner Smith’s (2019-23) record of 158 … Walsh extended his reached base streak to 24 games … Aroz saw his consecutive games with a home run snapped at five, matching the longest in program history … The Ducks homered in the sixth straight game … Four Ducks’ relief pitchers combined to toss 3.1 scoreless innings … Ryan Featherston (2-0) picked up the win tossing 0.1 innings after inheriting a two-on, two-out situation. On Deck: Oregon will go for the series sweep on Sunday. First pitch is at 12:05 p.m. at PK Park. Quotes: Head Coach Mark Wasikowski On how it feels to see fans showing out this weekend... “Really good. And thanks to the fans for coming out and supporting the ball club. It's a really good ball club, we haven’t played that way at times and the club is well aware of it. To have their support and trust and to be able to play good two days in a row in front of really big crowds here is obviously awesome. And the fans showing up and showing out here at PK, I mean, it's really cool. It's great for the guys and we'll try to continue to earn your trust, we know we haven't at a 100% clip yet. But still, I think this one heck of a ball club and we got a chance to be really, really good if we do our jobs.” On what Jacob Walsh has meant to the program... “He's just a wonderful kid. First of all, he's brought up well. He’s not perfect, none of these kids, none of us, are perfect, right? I mean, it's, he's just kind of who everybody is out there right now. He's a guy that has his days where he struggled and he's fought through them, you know, and he's a guy that's tremendously talented. The things you listed off, that's a lot of success for one guy with all those records. And I love being around him, because he's got a good impact in that clubhouse, in the locker room. And when he leaves I'm going to miss him, just like I did the Tanner Smiths and Aaron Zavalas and so many other kids that we've had that are just really special human beings.” On Anson Aroz’s performance... “Yeah, critical hit too. I mean, it was early in the game, but it was a two out double to score two. At that time their starter was out there, 94-95 with heavy sink. I haven't seen the metrics on his sink on his fastball, but I'm sure he was at least average on a pro scale. Yeah, heck of an arm. And we were able to get to him, Anson was able to get to him there. That was huge. And for us to get him out of the game as early as we did, I thought was the real critical piece. I don't think they wanted him to be out of the game that early.” Jacob Walsh On becoming Oregon’s all-time RBI leader… “It’s cool. I’m just out there playing ball and having fun. Records come and come, but we got a good win today.” On feeling at the plate… “I feel good. When you’re having a good approach and are quiet with everything, the ball comes in a lot easier and it’s easier to make good decisions, so I’m just trying to stick to that.” On the team’s momentum right now… “It’s awesome. We’re showing the lineup that we all knew we had. (Dominic) Hellman hits a ball 800 feet yesterday and is the player of the game yesterday and he’s not in the lineup today. That just shows how strong our lineup is and it’s good to finally have that come around.” Maddox Molony On seeing the ball better at the plate… “Yeah. I’ve been ready to hit and I’m seeing the ball well.” On driving in runs in a variety of ways…“It says that we’re a mature group of guys. We can have those days with a lot of home runs and we can also be mature enough to stay in, take some pitches, and get on base.” -

13-3 Ducks is the final, as the Pride of Portland, Ryan Cooney, gets to second on a steal, to third on a wild pitch, and then scores the winning run from third on a wild pitch to Run-Rule the Wolverines! In the pregame interview, Coach Waz spoke of how the players are not always mentally engaged, and that is on HIM to get them there. He declared that these players are superb when fully on-point mentally, but he felt that their concentration, and mental discipline let some close games slip past this last week. He emphasized how it is on HIM as the coach to have them ready...and I think he did! Seth Mattox had a good 2.1 innings of scoreless work, and it sets him up nicely for future outings. -

12-3 Ducks after seven innings, as California Baptist transfer pitcher, Seth Mattox, came in and gave Our Beloved Ducks a scoreless inning, as Michigan struggles at the plate and on the mound. Of COURSE, the Oregon RBI Leader scores two more! -

9-3 Ducks after six innings. Michigan cannot find a pitcher who can stop the Oregon-Attack, while Coach Waz brought in three different pitchers for three different Wolverine batters at the top of the sixth...to get them out! Jacob Walsh is now the ALL-TIME RBI KING at Oregon! -

6-3 Ducks after five innings! Reitz got into trouble with walks, and Ryan Featherston came in to get the third out. But Michigan went through three pitchers in the fifth inning, and even with four runs scored in the fifth...Our Beloved Ducks still left bases-loaded stranded to end the inning. GREAT crowd for a pleasant warm day at PK Park... -

2-0 Ducks after three innings. Reitz makes me nervous, but he generated a second double-play to end the second inning, and he was getting his pitches more accurate in the third inning. Unfortunately, the Michigan pitcher has also warmed up, so we have a battle. -
Game summary at the bottom of the thread! (Great total effort today) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2-0 Ducks after one inning, as monster 6'11" Oregon pitcher Jason Steitz gets the start today. I do not like how batters get hits off him, but he does generate a ton of mis-hits, such as the one that created a sweet double play to end a Michigan threat. And Anson Aroz bats in more RBIs!

Diamond Ducks Run-Rule Michigan....15-2!

All Phases Shine in Bounceback Win EUGENE, Ore. — It took into April for the 2025 Oregon baseball team to swallow defeat on consecutive gamedays. The Ducks didn’t let the losing streak linger long. No. 15 Oregon (21-8, 9-4 Big Ten) bounced back in a big way Friday, opening a three-game series with visiting Michigan by dominating, 15-2, in a game shortened to seven innings by run rule. The Ducks returned to conference play for the first time since suffering a doubleheader sweep at Ohio State the previous Saturday — Oregon’s first consecutive losses of the season — and after dropping a midweek game at Portland on Wednesday. “Hungry,” UO starting pitcher Grayson Grinsell (5-1) said of the team’s mindset, after allowing two runs across six innings Friday. “Practice yesterday was great. Showed up today, same thing pregame — BP, infield-outfield, everything, guys were hungry. We wanted to get out there and play again.” Along with Grinsell’s superb start, the Ducks played defense behind him that was at times spectacular. And the offense bashed five home runs, including Anson Aroz homering in his fifth straight game and Dominic Hellman hitting his UO record third grand slam of the season. “I'm especially proud of the guys in the mental aspect,” Aroz said. “Obviously the performance is great; the bats were there, the pitching was there. But just how we're spending time at the field, the smiles, the fun — guys aren't stressed. We know we're a good club and what we're capable of when we act the way we need to act.” Grayson Grinsell Mason Neville also homered as part of a 3-for-5 day with three RBIs. He and Hellman each had a homer and a double, with Hellman knocking in five runs on the day. At the bottom of the order, Carter Garate reached base in four straight innings beginning with the third, and came around to score all four times. How It Happened: Oregon’s ace Grinsell took the ball looking to end his team’s losing streak, allowing only a two-run fifth inning that included a solo homer and the only two walks he surrendered. By that point the Ducks had an 8-0 lead already, thanks to Grinsell and his defense. “I mean, he's tremendous,” UO coach Mark Wasikowski said. “He's a great competitor. That's why he gets the accolades, and he pitched well again tonight — Friday night win. Grayson's been a rock for us.” The Ducks managed only Hellman’s first-inning double through two innings. Then, the dam broke. Ryan Cooney led off the third with a home run, Garate walked and advanced to third on a Neville single, and Hellman made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly. Jacob Walsh then doubled in Neville, the 158th RBI of Walsh’s career to tie Tanner Smith for the UO record. Smith saw another of his records matched moments later, when Aroz homered in his fifth straight game to make it a five-run inning. “It's definitely enjoyable, the fun of that kind of stuff,” Aroz said of his streak. “Celebrating with the team is one of the best feelings in the world. But a lot of the focus on the day leading up is just like, how can I stay in a grove? Once you're in it and you find it, you’ve got to keep doing what you're doing before a game, and kind of priming a swing, just so you can kind of maintain that.” Grinsell nearly found trouble in the fourth after allowing consecutive one-out singles. But the next batter hit a ball to third that Garate fielded before diving to tag the runner from second just before he reached third – which survived a replay challenge. Grinsell got the next hitter, and the threat was ended. “That was an absolute critical play in the game,” Wasikowski said. Oregon continued to bash the baseball in the bottom of the fourth. Parker Stinson led off with his first homer as a member of the program, Garate hit a one-out single and Neville followed with a high fly ball that hit the foul pole in right field to make it 8-0. Dominic Hellman's Grand Slam... The UO offense had Grinsell’s back after Michigan scored twice in the fifth. The first five batters of the inning reached, with Cooney walking to force in one run and Garate taking a pitch off his back side to force in another. Then, with the bases still loaded, Hellman hit a one-out grand slam, Oregon’s fifth of this spring to tie the UO single-season record. Hellman not only now holds the UO single-season record with three himself, that also matches the school’s career record. “If I'm ever in the box and thinking too much about a situation and thinking too much about a swing I want to put on a ball, I just want to make sure I go back to my training,” Hellman said. “Kind of fall back to my training, not rising to the occasion type of thing. Just put a good swing on the ball and free myself up.” The grand slam made it 14-2 through five, and Neville doubled in Garate in the sixth. That gave the Ducks a big enough lead that the conference’s run rule was enforced after Michigan couldn’t score off UO reliever Kellan Knox in the top of the seventh. The Ducks secured their bounceback win after a three-game skid. Now, they’re looking to start a different kind of streak. “You can't get ahead of yourself, think that you're out of it just because you won a game,” Grinsell said. “Gotta come out tomorrow with the same intensity and focus.” On Deck: The Ducks host the Wolverines again Saturday (2 p.m., B1G+). -

5-0 Ducks after three innings. Boy it was a pitchers duel to start, and Grayson Grinsell has continued to keep the Wolverines scoreless, but the warmer 65 degree air warmed up the Oregon bats. Two home runs in the third inning, as Anson Aroz has hit dingers in five games straight now. Whew! -
Final stats are at the end of the thread...and there a ton of them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0-0 after one inning, as both starting pitchers look good. Grayson Grinsell had a rough start to the season, but has recovered and brought his ERA down to 3.46 and we need great pitching today. I know...I am a glutton for punishment, or... I Might as Well Face it....I'm Addicted to DUCKS!
