Should Oregon Football Fear USC?

I NEVER thought I'd see this in my entire life...and it is true right now! More talent than USC? Whew! And that warms my heart--thanks! -
Should Oregon Football Fear USC?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The incredible nationwide hype is wonderful for the conference....and for every team that beats them! I wish we were not playing Utah or USC during any regular season so that a Pac-12 Championship game against either would be that much more epic. Georgia fans were telling me how Oregon vs. USC could end up being "must-see" TV with all the hype of the Riley Offense and the Lanning Defense. We ALL win from that including our colleagues in SLC. -
With the reclassification of Kyler Kasper to 2022, it brings our total of 4&5-Stars to seven to move us up. However we are No. 2 in the conference to Arizona; the Wildcats have fewer of the 4&5-Stars, (Five) but have a total class of 23, while the Ducks have 17. So more volume...even of 3-Stars adds more points. In a normal year where we sign 22-25...we kill it. 2022 Team Rankings N.RIVALS.COM The definitive source for all Rivals news. Bottom line? Getting seven 4&5-Star players, (which is better than two of three Helfrich years) and add the Portal transfers, and done with a short recruiting season with a new coach? Prettay, prettay good!

Just More Fun Pointing Out How Mediocre Washington Football Is
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Mike Bellotti is the most charming likeable coach ever, and has far more class than I ever will. He would never put 70 points on a fellow coach, but a former Oregon assistant that he gave a break to, Chris Petersen, had no such qualms. And we could have put 70 on them so many times! -

Thank You Easter Bunny: Kyler Kasper Commits to Ducks

Scout no longer exists; it was bought by CBS 247 Sports, and thus all the flawed player rankings of Scout in the past (See my article above why I use Rivals) are part of 247's Data-Base. Thus why when I refer to historical perspective of the recruiting classes...I can only depend on Rivals. Now, with that being said--I don't have an axe to grind for them. In fact I am a member of 247 and On3 and would use theirs if I felt it was as accurate. -
First Sweep of Huskies in Seattle in 46 Years

All your humor and this one above made me LOL! The hitting this year has never been done at Oregon before, and is a wonder to watch. Now if we had great starting pitchers...but give Coach Waz time to recruit. -
Miami Ranked 22nd by ESPN? Right!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thank you for that, as yes....everyone was outraged that I had the gall to question Cristobal in his first month on the job. When I stated, "this offense will not take us to the promised land," the hatred was pretty vile toward me, simply because I was a minority opinion and disagreed with them. In the San Jose State game of the first month of his first football season (2018) I noted how a slanting defensive tackle was catching us in the backfield repeatedly. Mari (He is Mari because he doesn't know what to do with the "O") had one of the best offensive lineman at Oregon ever in Calvin Throckmorton try to do a seal block in an impossible scenario. So if they are going to slant on the defensive line--will you adjust? He did not/would not and that was one of my many subtle clues back then. I know I've brought it up often, but just last August...the article below brought about over 300 posts on 247, and 97 of them would have been deleted here because....they were not "polite and respectful." And that was just last August! Does Rob Mullens feel he got SNOOKERED by Mario Cristobal? | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM ve often wondered what Athletic Director Rob Mullens was expecting of Oregon's offense when he announced Mario Cristobal as head football coach in his news... -
Thank You Easter Bunny: Kyler Kasper Commits to Ducks
Charles Fischer replied to FamilyofDucks's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is a great example of what I am referring to; on 247, Oregon is ranked No. 16 and on Rivals Oregon is ranked No. 33, thus much tougher rankings on players and process. Plus...their listings historically are consistent. But yes, if he reclassifies...it will raise both rankings. Keep in mind...I have consistently stated over the years that a good recruiting class is one that has at least eight of the 4&5-Star players on Rivals. Right now for 2022 we have six, and Kasper would be the seventh. Trying to stay consistent in my "Critical Analysis!" -

I've been following them for over 20 years, and often a 4-Star at 247 is a 3-Star on Rivals. My reasons for using Rivals.com are... Why I Use Rivals.com over 247 for Recruiting Comparisons | FishDuck FISHDUCK.COM So many people ask why I do not refer to the CBS 247 Recruiting analyses and rankings and use the Rivals.com rankings instead? It is because I often am looking... Or we can disagree...no sweat. -

SEATTLE — Colby Shade delivered a two-out RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to score Gavin Grant and then Christian Ciuffetelli got the last three outs to give Oregon a 6-5 win over Washington on Saturday at Husky Ballpark. The win clinched a series sweep for the Ducks, their first in Seattle since the 1976 season. Oregon also won its first series at Washington since 2010 when the Ducks picked up wins in games two and three after losing in extra innings in game one. How It Happened: Oregon took the lead in the top of the second scoring three runs. Sam Novitske picked up a pair of RBI with a triple to right field scoring Josh Kasevich and Anthony Hall. Novitske made it 3-0 scoring on a wild pitch. Washington cut the lead to two with a third inning run before the Ducks responded. Brennan Milone got it back with a solo homer over the left-field wall. Washington got within one with a pair of runs in the sixth and then tied it on an eighth inning solo home run pushing the game into extra innings. Tanner Smith put the Ducks back on top with a leadoff solo home run in the top of the 10th inning. Oregon turned to closer Kolby Somers, who had saves in each of the first two games of the series. Their wouldn’t be a third save, thanks to a Johnny Tincher leadoff home run to tie the game. Somers rebounded from the home run. After two reached base on a walk and error and moved to second and third on a wild pitch with just one out, the Ducks’ closer struck out a batter and got a pop out to end the threat. In the 11th, Washington reliever Bryce Armstrong retired the first two batters he faced before walking Gavin Grant. Smith kept the inning going with a single through the right side to put runners on first and second. Shade the lined a two-ball, two-strike pitch into right center scoring Grant from second. Inside The Box Score: Novitske’s triple was the second of his career, and first since March 8, 2019 … Milone’s home run was his eighth of the season, tying Smith and Anthony Hall for the team lead … Smith regained the team lead in homers with his solo shot in the 10th … Smith (2-for-6, HR, RBI, R) had multiple hits for the second time in the series, the 17th time this season and the 54th time in his career … Shade (3-for-5, RBI, BB) reached base four times … He had multiple hits for the second straight day and the 15th time this season … Somers (3-2) was credited with the win … Ciuffetelli’s save was the first of his career … Oregon moved to 2-0 in extra innings this season. On Deck: Oregon wraps up its four-game road trip at Portland on Tuesday with a 5 p.m. first pitch.
