Not kidding, as this is a thing. Look at DZC's thread below for two videos, but this one I found is longer, but fascinating. And yes...the quarterback (red arrow below) is allowing the defender assigned to the running back to charge without the QB pulling the ball, and in fact he sticks his rear-end into that direction! The analyst in this video claims it creates an extra blocker for the running back No. 25, but nah...the defender hitting the QB is already left unblocked, so not a blocker gained. Just a different way of running an Inside Zone or Power play. This will be a HOOT to watch for! (Where else do you get this stuff?)

Lanning/Lupoi Blitzes: How Oregon Plays It Safe
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yet the points given up by the air and the average pass play against us...is not good. I went overboard writing "best of both worlds" because we have not achieved the ideal yet. But it points to where Lanning wants to go, to improve at. And the defensive strategy is based upon a confidence in the offensive scoring tons of points. Sometimes coaches devise plans to make the best of their talent--even though it is not ideal in many ways. The objective is to win any way you can. The 2001 team that ended up No. 2 in the nation...scored on average 34 points a game on offense, and gave up 21 points a game on defense. That offensive number is quite pedestrian by current standards, and the defensive number is good, (one that I'd love) but not great. That team just found ways to win. Maybe we are trying to find our "sweet-spot" in strategy for winning? -
Lanning/Lupoi Blitzes: How Oregon Plays It Safe
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This stat blows my mind DZC, because it begins to make my mind rumble at other thoughts, and we will have to do a "conference" later today about it. Chip Kelly always told us that when the other team is operating with a two-high safety look...you run the ball on them. With one less defender in the box, and that always shouted "run-the-ball" to Chip. (and most coaches) But are we potentially getting the best of both worlds? We are stopping the explosion plays, but also stopping the running attack with a two-high safety look that is known to give up more in the running game? Perhaps I am being too harsh on the front seven, and it begins to make me view the defensive strategy of Lanning in a new light. -
It was on this day a year ago that the OBD forum started up again for good. It was up earlier for three months in 2021, but was pulled until things could be figured out and it returned up on September 29th of 2021. It has been one year since the permanent launch... In that time period we have had: 52,424 posts written! Wow! Out of those posts, we have had 185 post violations, (deleted or edited) which comes out to a rate of just over a third of 1%, or still just in the 3/10ths of 1% area of all posts written is all. Now it sucks for me with all the time spent sending out the violation emails, and having to haggle with some people, but between that and the incredible work of our moderators--we have experienced a forum like no where else. Now we have the new one-place to get our Oregon Football News with the FishDuck Feed, thanks to the extraordinary time given by that volunteer team! It takes a ton of volunteer time to make this the GREEN REFUGE that it is for us, and I am grateful for the help and grateful for a community of nice people to discuss Our Beloved Ducks with! After all that time and work...we gotta celebrate!

Lanning/Lupoi Blitzes: How Oregon Plays It Safe
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In my view, that assessment is incomplete, as it does not take into account the number of times you blitz five or six, and get burned in the secondary because the opposing offensive line held up against us well. That was what was happening at times in games, IMHO. We have done some bigger blitzes with little effect, thus it makes sense to send fewer and rely on a secondary that is getting better every game. It is not ideal, but I believe it is the baby-step Lanning is using for now. -
A problem we all have now is battling the very short attention span the web has created within us. It is now only eight seconds, and that means we all are impatient and do not want to take any extra time to read or learn things. I would ask you to consider fighting that natural urge today and take ten minutes to enhance your understanding of Oregon football with the two FishDuck analysis articles posted today by DazeNconfused and yours-truly. It does take a little time to concentrate on the material, but once you do--it will help you far beyond with your understanding of Oregon football for the time spent. Fight the short attention span and learn more football!

We have three objectives with the 'Feed: 1) Provide the one place that is free to everyone to get the news/articles about Oregon Sports, and 2) we are not bringing them all to you, as there is massive redundancy among all the sites. We curate the best of each Duck topic and bring them to you, in addition to the major news that all Oregon fans should be informed of. The final one, 3) We are bringing the tasty topics and tweets that can copied and brought to the main forum area for discussion with this wonderful community. We will restrict the number of articles to the FishDuck Feed to under 50, thus it may be 40-something, or the Focused Forty articles and tweets to be aware of for each day. News and articles updated throughout the day!

I just got free of today's commitments to come to the forum to see this incredibly kind promo for my article tomorrow. What will be fun for everyone is that DZC was being very humble because HE has created an article that I called "a masterpiece" last night that will also be published tomorrow. Thursday will be an analysis day like none other on FishDuck; an opportunity to learn about what the heck is going on with our defense and why. I was astounded at how superb DZC's explanations were in his article, and how easy it was to learn from them. And without knowing it...we were writing about a similar subject, but different elements of it. You could not have planned it better than how it will appear tomorrow. The article from DZC will be a foundation article about the Lanning/Lupoi defense that I will be putting in the FishDuck Analysis Library. So while DZC and I are glad-handing each other...I would like to think that the readers are going to be highly informed and entertained. We are big fans of each other's work, and this is going to be quite the double-header!

Would Oregon Fan Base Welcome Nix in 23?
Charles Fischer replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I do not believe that Nix has an NFL arm, so if he wanted to come back for one more year to enjoy the whole college experience--I would take a 72% completion rate QB back! -
Because.... 1) It is fun. 2) It is entertaining. 3) It makes us grateful as hell that he is gone. I never said I was noble...

There Is More than One Way to Coug It
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I still saw some "wolfing, or barking" by our players at WSU players after a great play, and I was surprised and disappointed. (It was Manning again...) -

Fun article Darren, because we've all been there! I was disgusted with the end of the Oklahoma game in Autzen years ago, and got up and left. Then when I heard people screaming...I went back and watched the finish of the Oregon win from the rim of the Stadium when I had great seats! Been there! -
I think Mario had this expression below when thinking of that "FishDuck" guy who had been questioning his offense since his first month as Oregon HC...

"What’s Wrong with Miami’s (QB) Tyler Van Dyke?"
Charles Fischer replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I recall a FishDuck writer predicting this.... Mario Cristobal: Quarterback Killer FISHDUCK.COM We've all heard the consensus point of view from Duck fans: Mario Cristobal regressed the development of Justin Herbert and Anthony Brown. Both QBs spent two...
