Agreed. But now--I am happier in the B1G, as with the way everything is changing--you need to be in one of the Super-Conferences or you get left behind. I love our exposure, and again--the time zone thing is REAL, and was working against the Pac-12, big-time. If we went with the Apple deal...streaming only? NOBODY would be watching us. Heck the Pig-2 would get more coverage on the CW than Pac-12 streaming would bring, IMHO. It worked out the best for us... The Pig-2 can play by themselves...

What I did not know until the end is that Maryland had already lost at Washington on this road trip, so it's too bad that the Huskies are going to be tough for us, but great that the B1G opponents don't just concentrate on preparation for Oregon. We needed that!

No. 2? Are they crazy? That ranking is not based on analysis, but on hyperbole. Apparently they did not read my article a month ago of how between graduating seniors and those departing for the NFL, we will lose 19 out of 22 starters. We are looking to add 10 new starters from the portal, so that means a big chunk of the team is going to be highly inexperienced. A high ranking at this point is more wishful than proven. This is truly a case of getting out over our skis as we need to see how things settle up by the end of fall camp, IMHO.

Those Russian Bastards won't leave us alone, as they try to penetrate the Registration system I have on a regular basis. Just last night I had THREE attacks from Russia, of Spammers who want to penetrate and post hundreds of Spam posts, and in some cases--take over the site. Spammers from around the world are also trying, and even some here in the US, and boy these people are relentless. If I did not have my manual system of having to approve them--I am quite sure we would have had some nasty messes to clean up. We have had a number of Trolls who attempted to sign up, and when I call them to "confirm" their information? I get crickets, with no return call. Another actually answered his phone, and after I identified myself he responded with...."oh,...you have a wrong number." Right. I could tell by his hesitation, and tone of voice that he was BUSTED. This extra work is a hassle, but it actually saves time for me overall instead of later deleting their posts, arguing with them about their posts, banning them, etc. I am not going to report this stuff all the time, but I wanted you to know that I am working to make sure our Duck Pond remains CLEAN. The posts written after our loss the last couple of days have had some superb analysis and writing. I so appreciate all of you, and it makes want to do what it takes to preserve this safe set of sites for the long-term. Final 2024 Numbers of the Two Sites We had over 300,000 unique readers between the two sites for 2024, and even if you are on the forum a couple of times a day--you are only counted once for the entire year as a unique reader. I figure between 'bots crawling the sites, and accidental hits--I can safety tell people that we serve over a quarter-million unique readers a year! This is great for volunteers to know that their time spent impacts thousands of readers, and for those who donate--you are helping Oregon fans around the world. While I would like this rumor to be true as an explanation for the first half, the fact that with all the players, all the coaches, and all the support personnel of the team has not said anything in interviews, (and all their social media) about it, and thus makes me wonder. I understand how Lanning may have told everyone to not report it, as he as a coach does not want diminish the victory of the opposing team. (He would not like that offered by the opposition when he wins) Like jrw, we need more sources, more confirmation.

Over at a pay site....it was reported that Jaron Sag. took a long look at Dante Moore in practice, and knew he could not beat out Moore and start as a freshman--which was his goal to do somewhere. Can't fault him for wanting to play right away, and is another indirect confirmation of the talents of QB Moore...

We have a flurry of people registering to post for the first time on this forum, and it creates more work for me as I have to manually approve everyone. A Spammer from Russia tried to register using AI to help write his Oregon "story," and at this time I can filter those out. But we also have some who want to register, and then start out with bitter complaints about Oregon and their game performance. My attitude is, if he/she is not here for discussion at other times, then you do not have permission to start out with your bitter-bile. Not welcome. We also have had some obvious Trolls try to get in, and I blocked them. We have had some very rational Buckeye fans apply, and after chatting with them could see that they are reasonable people who are also great fans of their school. I welcome such fans, as their perspectives about the conference could be very helpful for us as a community. They have posted already, and confirmed my good vibes from them. I spoke to a new member this morning, an Oregon fan who between he and a family member--were stunned at "the rational discussion in spite of the loss." They were attracted to the civility of the forum, and I certainly welcome new forum members who appreciate our GREEN REFUGE. Do you know of other Duck fans or B1G fans who should know about us, and join? We welcome "UNIQUE" fans!

The extensive use of the portal--as Oregon has done is new. Between Lanning building the roster with very young Blue-Chip talent, and adding plug-in transfers, I would suggest that we really do not know the "formula" yet for approaching the blend of HS vs. Portal talent. Dano made us uber-competitive NOW, with portal transfers as he waits for his young recruiting classes to mature. What the blend is going forward--is unknown. What I will say is that we are taking fewer HS recruits this year, and will have around 10 transfers. (Plus or minus) With fewer portal transfers, so he is indirectly signaling to us that he will gradually wean the roster from very many portal transfers in the future? I get it. Completely crushed. But I am a loyal fan no matter what, and I do believe in Lanning over the long term. But he has been the master at having the team mentally ready, and this performance was so....not the norm for a team of his. I was surprised at that as much as losing as we did. This is going to take a while to get over, but I will still be here and keeping up with Our Beloved Ducks. It could be worse....just ask Beavis...

Bingo. I will admit that I did not understand why we were even recruiting him because 1) the QB room we already had, and 2) we will probably go to the portal for an experienced QB when Dante Moore's time has run out. (Since he appears to be who they are counting on)
