  1. This thread could be the start of quite a bit of discussion into other tangents, but let's each give our prediction as to the season-ending record for the Ducks. Give me your final record, which means you are right in the number of wins and losses, but also takes into account of whether we make a Pac-12 Conference Championship game (or not) a bowl, or even a Playoff. Thus you need to get the number of games correct too. Then, (for tiebreaker purposes) I need how many points you think Oregon will average scoring for the season and how many they give up per game average. Right now the Ducks are scoring 33.83 points per game, (the three year average is 33.84 points per game....how amazing is that?) and Oregon is giving up an average of 21 points per game. Predictions in other threads do not count as I am not hunting them down. Predictions without all three sets of numbers will be invalid. (Sorry to be anal, but people mess up and make it tough on me) I am thinking about a prize, since we won't see the result of this for a few months, but no guarantee there yet. (If anybody wants to throw in...for sponsorship purposes, I am a Shameless Beggar) You are also welcome to explain how you arrived at your prediction. I'll start... 8-5, 30 points scored per game, 26 points per game given up. So....8-5, 30, 26 Sorry to be so negative, but watching the Cal game...it popped into my mind that, "this is an 8-5 team." We will lose three more in the regular season and not go to the conference championship game and we will lose our lower-tier bowl game. The potential for this team is to win-out, but the will to change on offense by Cristobal is not. One more prediction: Moorhead will leave Oregon at the end of this season, and Mastro will be elevated to "Supreme Yes-Man." (OC)
  2. One of the most highly rated defensive players ever recruited, and while he is not a bust...we assumed he would be playing like Sewell at his position. I've been surprised there as well. Out of position? (Guessing)
  3. "I’m burned out on writing how Mario Cristobal needs to change his offense. I have accepted that he will not change and that we’re wasting our breath on calling for him to do so. Therefore, if the Ducks are going to win the rest of their games, they need to improve in other areas since we simply cannot count on the offense to get better." Duck Fans...what Darren wrote above is right, but could you ever have imagined it would come to this? Oregon was known for offense, and we have declined to this? Takes my breath away.
  4. (Press Release from Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. – For the fourth straight season, Oregon Womens Basketball will open the season in the top 10 of the AP Poll, checking in at No. 10 following the release of the preseason rankings Tuesday. Oregon has now been ranked in the top 25 in each of the last 77 poll releases dating back to the start of the 2017-18 season, sitting in the top 10 in all but 11 of those weeks. The Ducks’ streak of 77 straight weeks ranked in the AP poll is the seventh-longest active stretch in the country. The Ducks are coming off of a Sweet Sixteen run in 2020-21 when they finished 15-9 and 10-7 in Pac-12 play, coming in fourth in the league. Oregon returns its leading scorer and rebounder from a year ago in Nyara Sabally (12.9 PPG, 7.3 RPG) and assists leader Te-Hina Paopao (4.4 APG). Sedona Prince gives the Ducks another talented star in the frontcourt after averaging 10.4 points and 1.5 blocks per game while Sydney Parrish, Maddie Scherr and Kylee Watson all return after playing significant roles in their first collegiate seasons. Oregon also welcomes in a talented group of newcomers made up of five transfers and two true freshmen. Endyia Rogers arrives in Eugene from USC, where she was an all-conference performer a year ago after averaging 14.8 points and 4.3 assists per game. The Ducks also bring in graduate transfers Shannon Dufficy and Ahlise Hurst Georgia State transfer Taylor Hosendove and junior college All-American Chanaya Pinto. True freshman Taylor Bigby comes in as the No. 29 player in the Class of 2021 according to espnW in addition to being a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year in Nevada as a junior and senior. Phillipina Kyei rounds out the group of newcomers and is the tallest player in program history at 6-foot-8. The Ducks are the only team in the Pac-12 to have three 2021 all-conference performers on the roster in Paopao, Rogers and Sabally, while the four transfers who came from other Division I schools have a combined 331 career games under their belts. Oregon will host exhibition games against Saint Martin’s (Oct. 28, 6 p.m.) and Westmont (Nov. 6, TBA) before opening the regular season against Idaho State on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Matthew Knight Arena. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me get this right....between our original roster and a transfer--the Ducks will have FOUR All-Pac-12 players to start? Whew!
  5. Your concerns fold very neatly into what I've spouting about on offense for a long time; bad coaching decisions. If a 6th year QB is making bad decisions repeatedly--then the newbie QBs should have been made ready and given some playing time. Ditto for the wide-outs. We have had a cascade of bad decisions on offense beginning with dumping not one, but two high-scoring offenses that were proven to work at Oregon. The bad decisions have snowballed from there. We would be killing it on offense right now if Helfrich was OC, had full control and was QB coach as before. Same players, but different coaching. And this is not an indictment of Moorhead, as the key words are full control. I use Helfrich as an example because I know what he can do, and we truly do not know what Moorhead could do unimpeded.
  6. This is the KEY analysis point that matters, and it is not good for Oregon. To keep up with the scoring of UCLA...we must exploit it and we have not shown we can thus far. Great stuff Jon.
  7. The youth and injuries have primarily been on defense, while our objections have been about a low-scoring offense that has a 6th year senior quarterback and Super-Senior receivers. The offensive line has had a full year of camps and games and are now halfway into the second one. Yes they've had some injuries, but frankly--Walk has done fine filling in at center. An experienced offensive line is now there, IMHO. The only inexperience on offense is at Tight End, and they have been playing incredible for any year in school they are. Almost no drops and great blocking... So on offense? No, youth is not an excuse for me.
  8. I was concerned about the recruiting fallout, but if this continues with other recruits--then it could be ideal. Get the message through to Cristobal without damaging his recruiting...
  9. Good call. Since this is not a political site, but an Oregon Sports site.
  10. I fear this too. "Oregon has never beat us...we have them in the 'Shoe....no prob." I feel that the UCLA game will be a bellwether indicator for the rest of the season.
  11. That one might be more accurate than we wish!
  12. I've used the OBD acronym often so I don't have to write it all out each time. But I see how it can cause confusion...
  13. What can I say? He's made a ton of bad decisions with the offense...and fans are seeing it. As Jon said...I do not want to see him fired, but to win in the Playoffs--we must be able to score more. Jon is correct in that we are not going after him on a personal basis, but on a football platform. Have you been on other forums? It is FAR WORSE, and nobody is protected. You are free to state your opinions here, and people have to be nice no matter what it is. That is not available anywhere else. I do have advice as there are many like you: --Basketball season starts soon, and we will be chatting that up. (I don't have a problem with Dana's or Kelly's offense!) --You will need to callous up, because this is going to get worse, I fear, with the remainder of the season. It will originate from the decisions MC has made, and the fans will be displeased, I believe. --If things turn around, then like previous years--it will be fun for all. But I am not in favor of promoting nothing but the positive...been-there-and-done-that years ago. --In the decade of FishDuck--I've had years where it was nothing but GREAT, and then years like 2016..and maybe now. We let the topics flow as people feel them; I only look at behaviors, that regardless of the year, we must be "Polite and Respectful" to each other. --Analysis article on Thursday! If you have been on this site for long, then you would remember several of my articles like this one where I stated all the areas I value Cristobal at, such as his leadership, his recruiting, his values, etc. I want him here at Oregon, only with a more potent offense. I put this in writing and still people forget... Or maybe we are not your cup-of-tea. I am not trying to please everyone, and I put a boatload of money and time into this forum--thus I will operate it as I believe is best for the majority of people. If it is not a fit--I understand, and the door is always open.
  14. Create a new verb? Just as teams "Coug-it" we see Oregon, "Cristobal-it" after a big win?
  15. You do need that on a team...what if Scott Frost had not held (arm-bar and used all his strength) back Blount from the Boise State crowd? Blount was blind with rage and was going to tear someone apart and was headed up into the stands.
  16. Rivals 3-Star, great speed...his profile is here, and the offer list is OK, but not real impressive. UCLA, USC, Cal, WSU, Oregon State, Utah, Arizona offered, so with Oregon it is eight of the Pac-12. But look at that list with the link above...??
  17. Interesting question--no idea, but I do recall Jimmy Rad on the sidelines at every game. Next to the coaches? I do not recall that...
  18. Mase Funa and Alex Forsyth are "full-go" for this Saturday. DJ James is an unknown at this point. Coach Moorhead is cleared to work in the Hatfield-Dowling Complex, and will be at the game in Pasadena on Saturday too.
  19. Others are starting to write it, and now another site is beginning to do Opinion-Editorial articles as we do on FishDuck? It's Time to Admit that the 2021 Oregon Ducks Might not be a Great Football Team by Zach Neel of Ducks Wire
  20. We posted the same within a minute of each other! Great minds...
