  1. It is fun watching him with our agony going on as he throws again for nearly 400 yards in a 42-35 victory at home versus a good Cleveland team. He scored five TDs and more can be read right here, as I had my doubts about the Chargers early in the third quarter about whether they could pull this off. The Browns ran the ball extremely well, but the Chargers responded! Oooh. Good question! One thing I can say now is that the Chargers have an established offensive system. And all the players that barely lost last year have matured and are now turning those tough games into narrow wins this year. I am very happy for him!
  2. I am very concerned that Cristobal could turn off a ton of very loyal Oregon fans from what I am reading in this forum. it would be tempting to say within three games, but it is really the pattern set over three years, the tease of Columbus, and then back to boring football.
  3. (I do not usually cover some of the less-popular sports unless something exceptional is happening and this truly is) (Press Release from Oregon Athletics) EUGENE, Ore. – Kess Elmore scored in the 34th minute and a determined defensive effort – highlighted by Leah Freeman’s eight saves – made that goal stand up in Oregon’s 1-0 victory against Arizona State Sunday at Pape’ Field. Freeman set the school record with her eighth shutout of the season as the Ducks moved to 8-1-4 overall and 3-1-1 in the Pac-12. “I thought we had a solid performance,” said Oregon head coach Graeme Abel. “Early on I thought that we were good on moving the ball around regarding the attack. It was a great job from Kess [Elmore] to score the goal. Defensive-wise I thought we were really organized.” The sophomore from Berkeley, Calif., had a highlight reel save in the 63rd minute. Nicole Douglas blistered a shot from seven yards out but Freeman countered with a fully-extended dive to her left to knock Douglas’ drive off target. Who Stood Out: Center backs Croix Soto and Anna Phillips and outside backs Chai Cortez and Mia Palmer helped the Ducks become the first team to record a shutout against the Sun Devils (8-5-1, 0-4-1) this season. The Ducks have shutout six of their last seven opponents. What It Means: Oregon has its best 13-game record since the 1981 squad was 11-0-2 through 13 games. Quotable Head Coach Graeme Abel "Leah [Freeman] obviously gets singled out making the saves and at the end of the day, that is what she is there for. As a former goalkeeper, I get that piece of it. But as a team the way we defend is a team effort, it is a collected effort. We are not a collection of individuals, we are a team and we have been successful so far.” Notable: Freeman broke the season shutout record she shared with Jesse Chatfield (2005) and Halla Hinriksdottir (2018) … Freeman passed Cody Miles (12/2008-10) for fourth in UO career shutouts with 13 … Freeman also recorded her seventh win of the season, which is tied for 10th on the UO single-season list and just two shy of the school record … Chardonnay Curran started her 78th match as a Duck which ranks third all-time and is just two behind the school record shared by Danielle Sweeney (2006-09) and Scout Libke (2009-12) … The Ducks swept the Arizona schools for the first times since 2016. Up Next: USC, Thursday, 4 p.m. (Pac-12 Network). Leah Freeman
  4. I wish to congratulate J Duck for not only winning the Stanford Game Prediction contest, but nailing the score precisely at Stanford: 31-24. I also wish to apologize for taking so long to recognize him, as I am guilty of trying to block so much of what happened in that game--that I forgot to follow up! Very rarely has anyone nailed the score like that, and we will have a prediction thread later in the week for Cal. Note to all? Please follow directions when making your prediction and give me the other numbers I need for tie-breaking purposes. If you do not provide them, then I cannot use your entry....and that will make someone mad.
  5. I cannot believe the roller-coaster this year. I was so elated after the Ohio State victory because I thought it was a massive step forward for Coach Cristobal in managing as a CEO. Now...we are all in the dumps. To answer your question--it is dependent entirely upon the coaching from this point forward; a team that can beat Ohio State should be able to win the remaining of its games. Right? (They built they own high-bar)
  6. Only one spot dropped on a bye week after a loss. ASU is the only other Pac-12 team at No. 18...in the AP poll. Alabama at No. 5!? The Coaches poll has ASU at No. 22 and boy the Pac-12 has only two teams in either poll? How do I feel about Oregon even being ranked right now?
  7. And nothing from the Pac-12 office about those calls against us in the Stanford game? C'mon George...get it right!
  8. So Alabama loses to TAMU, who lost to Mississippi State, who lost to Memphis....what a crazy year. Or is parity beginning to arrive from the portal, when recruiting high schoolers did not?
  9. Watching the ASU pass rush on Stanford that we did not--the rushing, the passing on the Cardinal...I don't know if I'm angry about last week, or devastated thinking about how good we really are. That big "THUD" you heard outside? It is Duck fans coming back to earth from the Ohio State game... There is our pass-protection! So great to see you back Mike...
  10. The Beavers really have much better coaching on the offensive line for run-blocking than we do at this point, and the Cougs have found their passing offense. They looked good...
  11. I think that is part of the answer, but it is primarily Cristobal himself. He would rather be tough, than score as many points as he can. Why else would he dump two highly successful offenses for this?
  12. "In your opening press conference...you promised to stick to fast tempo and to running an offense that the fans find entertaining. Have you done both?" Bonus Question: "If the fans and Rob Mullens knew you had this in mind on offense....do you think you would have still got the job?" Second Bonus Question: The original Oregon Spread Offense was the first in NCAA history to score 45 points a game for three years straight; the Gulf Coast Offense of 2017 averaged nearly 50 points a game when Herbert was healthy. Why would you dump two offenses that were so successful? My friends....I've been asked why I don't ask those questions since I have media credentials? The answer is why all the other media doesn't; if you want access, you have to suck-up. The same censorship against anything negative especially persists in the Athletic Department, home of GoDucks.com, the Oregon version of Pravda. That is why I don't ask those questions, but I do write about them extensively.
  13. I grew up in Corvallis originally as a Beaver, so now I cheer for them against all except for the Rivalry game. That will continue regardless of how good they become... And if the Ducks fall behind, it is the fault of the coaches at Oregon. Blaming Oregon State for Oregon's demise....
  14. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to provide more information, as an article can only go so long. First there are a great many species in the animal/bird kingdom where the Alpha in each family is the female, so we need to be careful of our conclusions. I do not moderate this site based on gender, but on behaviors. And it is behaviors that were the difference in the Baboon troop atmosphere, as they are here in the OBD forum. What usually comes up and I've been accused of often on other sites, or from those I've blacklisted is..."you eliminate voices that disagree with you." And they want to argue the topic with me in an email... I explain that I don't care what the topic views are, as I want to see them all. But regardless of what side you take--you must follow our rules governing behaviors on this site. The same rules in the baboon troop centered around behaviors as well. So much of the censorship taking place in Social Media centers around the viewpoint or the opinion being eliminated. The same is true when FishDuck articles are censored from two major data aggregators; they want positive articles about Oregon football, and do not want any Critical Analysis. That is again dealing with particular opinions or viewpoints, where my rules and moderating are based upon behaviors.
  15. You are always so reasonable or factual, UtahDuck. Love it.
  16. That was a painful observation, yet funny...
  17. I told everyone in the introductory video that when you are signed in....a dot or star will appear to the left of a topic title on the front page when you return, and it was based upon whether you started the topic or not. WRONG. The dot indicates that you have not commented in the thread, and the star indicates that you HAVE commented in the thread. The Cool Part? When you click on the dot or star...it will take you right to where you left off reading in the thread. So when you left and there were ten posts you had read, and upon your return you now see there are eight new ones? Click on the dot or star on the left and it will take you to No. 11, where you left off. How cool! Saves a ton of time scrolling and trying to recall...now did I read that post by Mr. FishDuck? (Looks kinda boring, so...) Changes taking place! Yep, you will have noticed that the background color of the posts has gone from white-to-green-to-yellow and back to white! Part of that is yours-truly experimenting, and part of that is the Web Developer making some tweaks to our Moderating Software, to make it operate better. We will have more of that going as we work to make this very user-friendly....and do click on "Directions" in upper left! But to see the "Scroll-Saving" dot or star....you have to be a member of the forum and signed in. Otherwise you will not see them!
  18. Wait a minute...isn't the offensive coordinator supposed to be doing this entirely? Can "by committee" really work? Mario...how well has this committee worked thus far? Is this what a good offensive coordinator would want to be a part of?
  19. We gotta have a little fun, so tell who your straight-up winners are going to be for the following games? Arizona State vs. Stanford USC vs. Utah Oregon State vs. Washington State UCLA vs. Arizona I am going with Arizona State, Utah, Oregon State and UCLA; how about you?
  20. I fear for the Athletic Department that this has already happened with a percentage of fans and will continue to. It is not smart football and everyone can see it...
