  1. Boy this is a fun time Coach, and thanks for your update. My vibe about the teams are quite different, as it feels that the Women have too many problems to solve--that should be by now. The Men though, seem to be improving toward the upside we felt was there at the beginning of the season. The teams are moving in different directions...
  2. OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | MARCH 2, 2021 Yanez Named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week Oregon left-handed pitcher Brooke Yanez was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after tossing a complete game in a win over then-No. 1 UCLA Sunday and earning the save later in the day against Utah. Yanez turned in another dominant start in the circle against the top-ranked Bruins in Sunday’s win, striking out 10 while walking just one and giving up a run on six hits in a complete game victory. She retired 11 batters in a row at one point and set UCLA down in order in four of her seven inning pitched. In the seventh inning of the UCLA win, she struck out the final two batters of the game with the bases loaded and Oregon up by two to seal the game. Additionally, Yanez is the first pitcher since May 2019 to hold UCLA to less than two runs while tossing a complete game. In the second game of the doubleheader on Sunday, Yanez entered to start the fifth inning with Oregon up by three and worked the final three innings to earn the save. She struck out six while walking none in the relief outing, including ending the game with three straight punch-outs after allowing a solo homer to lead off the seventh. The Ventura, Calif. native has been dominant in the circle all season long. She currently has 46 strikeouts to just four walks over 28 innings pitched with a 1.93 ERA. Yanez is also 4-0 on the season with a pair of complete games to go along with a save and has double-digit strikeouts in four of her appearances.
  3. Look, based on the response to the article for today on FishDuck about the Worlds most popular sports--I understand how this sport has little to no following, but it is relevant Oregon Sports News to be aware of. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | TUESDAY, March 2, 2021 OREGON ATHLETICS EUGENE, Ore. – For the first time in program history, Oregon finds itself ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25. The Ducks, 2-1-1, had received votes in polls during previous seasons, but had never cracked the rankings until they landed at No. 20 on Monday. Oregon is coming off a 2-1 win over defending NCAA champion and then-No. 3 Stanford on Friday and a tight 1-0 loss to then-No. 14 California Sunday. Oregon will face its third consecutive ranked team Friday when the Ducks play at No. 3 UCLA. Other Pac-12 teams in this week’s poll include No. 10 Cal, No. 23 Stanford and No. 25 Washington State.
  4. I did not know if anyone would pick up on that!
  5. We play Cal on Friday and Oregon State on Black Friday after Thanksgiving as usual; good point about the championship game as that would be on Friday too.
  6. One reason I have a hard time cheering for Seattle is knowing the fans are also Huskies, so Marcus being there might actually be tougher on them than us?
  7. Whoa...this is fast. A loss had to happen, but this is the most "honorable" loss that could have occurred to Oregon Softball. I love the respect given to the team and Coach Lombardi!
  8. OK...there are two pages of comments, and if you do not like to wallow in other's misery--then you should pass. For me, this is miniscule compared to the trash-talking from the awful Husky fans of that day. Enjoy! Has There Been a Worse Interception Thrown Then This One? by Dawgman Thread
  9. Perhaps this might be the right "coach-speak," but some may wonder "what-if" those opt-outs did not happen? Or with the way things materialized--would it have mattered? Mario Cristobal Passes 'No Blame' on Oregon's 2020 Opt Outs by 247Sports
  10. Now I get that Oregon is not in the top-ten for recruiting among high school talent, but the order of the states surprises me. I would have thought Ohio and California would have been much higher for example, and I'm curious as to what you think? Ranking the 10 States with the Most Talent in the 2022 Recruiting Class by Bleacher Report
  11. Mario likes them big, but is that the key component? Our rushing yards have been declining over the last three years; what say you? Percy Lewis, 6-foot-9, 360-pound JC Offensive Lineman, Commits to Oregon Ducks by OregonLive
  12. The new football schedule is interesting, and fortunately we have seven home games with two on Fridays. So we have to play Washington twice in a row in Seattle? I see Alabama has announced they will have a full stadium with 100,000 attending each game for their season....I wonder about Autzen? 2021 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED by GoDucks.com
  13. A surprising article from a USC site about the state of the conference, Oregon and his thoughts about Dana Altman. (The February Enfield Blues?) Will the Ducks prevail this week and be Pac-12 Champion? Saturday Showed why Pac-12 hoops is Stuck -- except in Oregon by Trojans Wire
  14. And how nice to have play-by-play analysis that was quite informative and entertaining; where the viewer was the center of attention and being served, and not a sportscaster. It should always be that way....please!
  15. And you sir....are a welcome sight for this forum. GREAT to see you posting and I think you will really enjoy this enhanced community, as we have a number of new people who are quite interesting to read and discuss Our Beloved Ducks!
  16. Whoa Marsha! We better set the DVR for tomorrow early! Football in the morning....smells like...
  17. Gosh I loved that handle....and so true! That video below is only 85 seconds, but some of the most fun I've had at a game!
  18. OK....that is one thing I DO like about Bill Walton, as he has really promoted the motto of "Conference of Champions." Imagine if he just stuck to discussing basketball...
  19. Boy UCLA got their revenge, and then some. I imagine this could be a spicy set of games in the future! Ducks Drop Top-10 Showdown With No. 1 UCLA by GoDucks.com
  20. Well, when Oregon has won 33 National Championships and Washington has only won 8....and none in Mens sports--that is a massive statement about the athletic departments, the support, the marketing help with your career, etc. After you explain that--you take them for a stroll in the new Hayward Field... Just who is big-time?
  21. To me....this is one of the those little things that made the last Rose Bowl so cool. Not something we talked much about at the time--but a fun memory. Or is that just me?
  22. Apparently Vernon Adams is working out with Anthony Brown in Portland. Vernon's passing acumen being passed along is a blessing, and I'm sure No. 13 is grateful.
  23. Post a tweet like the one below! (He is on the staff at Oregon)
  24. A fun read because I recall some pundits stating that football coaches are selling one of two things in their recruiting pitch; success or hope. Both Washington and Clemson were selling "hope" at that point, but the Tigers did it with a different perspective as Ryan pointed out. Creating an Alabama or Clemson is so very hard--and even harder to maintain as we have seen with so many teams that have made the Playoffs and not returned. Cristobal is selling "hope" right now, but it has to be backed up on the field with measurable improvement and success. And that is the drama that will be entertaining to watch...
