  2. This could be the beginning of the end of college football as we know it...
  3. For you basketball junkies....fill us in as to what to look for and what we should expect.? Arizona surprised the Trojans with a loss, and especially with all the scoring in the paint against them, and one analyst at the Pac-12 Network thought that game was a good wake-up call for USC. Lovely. This will be on Fox Sports 1 and no Bill Walton! (Whew!) For live stream and live stats....go to this page at GoDucks.com and scroll down to the game and click on either or both options there. From the Press Release for the Credentialed Media: Oregon and No. 17 USC - two teams tied at the top of the Pac-12 in the loss column - meet Monday at 6 p.m. in Los Angeles (FS1) in a rescheduled game that was initially slated for Jan. 30. • 1 – Saturday against Utah, Oregon secured its 11th consecutive winning season, a program first. The win also assured Dana Altman of his 24th consecutive winning season as a head coach; an active streak shared by only by Altman and four Hall of Famers: Jim Boeheim, Mike Krzyzewski, Bill Self and Tom Izzo. • 3 – Chris Duarte is one of just three players in the nation averaging at least 17.0 points and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50 percent from the field, and is the only major conference player putting up those numbers. • 4 – Eugene Omoruyi has scored in double figures in 17-of-18 games this season. He is fifth in the Pac-12 in scoring at 17.2 points per game. • 5 – Oregon’s top five scorers – Chris Duarte, Eugene Omoruyi, Will Richardson, LJ Figueroa and Eric Williams Jr. – have all played in the same game only two times this season, Feb. 11 at Arizona State and Saturday against Utah. • BENCH – Under Dana Altman, Oregon has won nearly 90 percent of its games (187-21) when holding opponents below 70 points. • BENCH – With Eugene Omoruyi scoring his 1,000th point as a collegian Feb. 13 at Arizona, Oregon is now just one of two schools nationally with four 1,000-point scorers on the roster. Ole Miss is the other. Eric Williams Jr. is an unsung key component to Oregon's post-season hopes.
  4. OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2021 LOS ANGELES — The Oregon women’s basketball team earned a huge bounce-back win in its final road game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon at the Galen Center, using a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to defeat USC, 72-48. The No. 13 Ducks (13-6, 10-6 Pac-12) matched their season-high with 12 made three-pointers and held their opponent to fewer than 50 points for the fourth time this season to snap a three-game losing streak and head into next Sunday’s regular-season finale on a high note. Disappointed with their performance and effort in Friday’s loss at No. 8 UCLA, the Ducks held a live scrimmage in practice on Saturday – something head coach Kelly Graves said he has never done on a day between road games – to try and up the intensity. “They were challenged yesterday,” said Graves. “We had a great practice, very high-spirited. We did a lot live (scrimmaging) in practice and I think it paid off today. This was a good win and I think a good character win. I think it shows that this team has some character and the kind of mental make-up that is necessary to continue to compete down the stretch. They were challenged – believe me – in film sessions and other places, and they answered.” Who Stood Out: Sydney Parrish enjoyed one of the best games of her young career, as the freshman led Oregon with 17 points while going 4-of-6 from three-point range and adding a career-high four steals. Erin Boley continued her history of playing well against USC with 13 points and eight rebounds, and Nyara Sabally and Sedona Prince each finished with 11 points. Freshman Te-Hina Paopao was solid in directing the offense, dishing out a career-high eight assists against just two turnovers while also grabbing seven rebounds. What It Means: The Ducks were searching for a spark after taking three straight losses, and the intensity and effort from Saturday’s practice translated onto the court on Sunday. Graves praised players like Taylor Chavez and Sabally for stepping up as leaders, a welcome sight for a young team looking to build momentum with postseason right around the corner. Notable: UO extended its winning streak over USC to 10 straight games … The Ducks held their opponent to fewer than 50 points for the fourth time this season, and less than 60 points for the 12th time … Sabally notched her team-leading 14th double-figure scoring performance with Boley (10th), Prince (7th) and Parrish (5th) also reaching double digits … Chavez returned to the starting lineup for the first time since Jan. 24, hitting a three-pointer to open the scoring. Up Next: Oregon is scheduled to close the regular season against Oregon State next Sunday, February 28, at home against Oregon State (3 p.m. PT, Pac-12 Network).
  5. OREGON ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2021 EUGENE, Ore. – Needing four wins in singles play, the Oregon men’s tennis team responded accordingly for a 4-3 triumph Sunday afternoon over Washington at the UO Student Tennis Center. The visitors won the doubles point and led 3-2 before the Ducks rallied with wins at No. 2 and 6 singles. Oregon improves to 7-0 this season with Sunday’s victory. Quotable: “Today we did it the Oregon way with a lot of grit and blue-collar work, and came out on top at the end. It was a great college match.” – head coach Nils Schyllander “Once (Luke Vandecasteele) got into the third, I felt really good because you could tell he was physically stronger at that moment. First changeover, he told me ‘I can go three out of five sets. I’m fresh, coach’ and I knew.” – head coach Nils Schyllander “I feel pretty good. It’s kind of hard not to after winning a match like that. This is definitely the dog days of the term, school wise, so it’s good for our team to be able to come out there and fight. Plus, it’s our third match of the week and we’re looking forward to three more (next week) so it could be easy to lay down some times but the fact that we were able to come out here and fight…it’s impressive to say the least.” – Sophomore Luke Vandecasteele Notable: Seventh different singles lineup in seven matches … Coste (5-0), Klov-Nilsson (6-0), Quinn Vandecasteele (6-0) remain undefeated in singles play … UO did not lead in the match until the final win at No. 6 singles … first of two matches between the teams this season; play again April 10 in Seattle … Sunday’s match did not count toward Pac-12 standings. Up Next: The Ducks head to Arizona for three matches next week, beginning with a neutral matchup with New Mexico (Feb. 25) in Tempe. Oregon opens conference play at No. 22 Arizona State (Feb. 26) and No. 21 Arizona (Feb. 28). We are not going to be doing press releases of tennis for either gender very often, but a win over the Huskies justifies my efforts!
  6. Let Joe Moorhead run the offense completely the way he wants; butt-out.
  7. We have been very, very fortunate to have him as a coach, and with the way he looks--he could be around for quite a while longer!
  8. Game One, a 10-2 Victory for Oregon: FRESNO, Calif. –Brooke Yanez pitched a complete game, a 12-strikeout effort retiring the last 17 batters she faced overall. She got stronger as the game went on, striking out five of the final six she faced. Notable after Game One: --Oregon has started 6-0 in all three years under head coach Melyssa Lombardi and five straight seasons dating back to 2017. --Seven different Oregon players drove in the 10 runs while all nine starters recorded hits. --Alyssa Brito went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a triple and her first career home run. She’s had six hits in the last three games, going 6-for-9 over that stretch … --Yanez struck out double-digit batters for the second straight game and has fanned at least eight in each of her three appearances. She has 30 strikeouts to just three walks over 18 innings pitched on the season and her 12 strikeouts last night are the second-most she’s had in a single game in her Oregon career. --Ariel Carlson turned in her second career three-hit game, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. --Lexi Wagner drove in multiple runs for the second straight game, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. --The Ducks now have 16 doubles on the season as a team after coming into the week tied for the national lead in two-baggers. Game Two, a 2-1 Victory for Oregon: FRESNO, Calif. – Oregon stayed perfect on the season behind yet another dominant pitching performance, while Haley Cruse saved the game with a diving catch with the tying run at second in the bottom of the seventh of a 2-1 win over Fresno State on Sunday. Raegan Breedlove got her second career start in the circle and turned in an efficient four innings of work to get the win. She recorded 10 of her 12 outs via ground ball and retired the Bulldogs in order in three of her four innings, only allowing the two base hits in the third inning. Samaria Diaz came out of the bullpen in the fifth and set down the first seven batters she faced, only running into trouble in the last before Cruse’s catch ended it. Quotable: Head coach Melyssa Lombardi On the pitching and defense… “I loved how great our defense was. I really liked what Raegan did today – she was constantly ahead and let her defense play behind her. Having Samaria come in close the game out and get us in-and-out of innings, and then seeing Haley make the game-winning catch – that’s what it’s about. It’s about knowing that they’ve got each other’s backs and I thought they showed that today.” OF Haley Cruse On the confidence she has in the pitching staff… “I felt pretty relaxed out there because our pitchers were dominating the whole game. I knew I wasn’t really getting it done at the plate so I wanted to pick the pitches up on defense as much as I could and they came through for us.” RHP Samaria Diaz On the play of the defense overall today… “As a pitcher we know that our defense has our back and we have the hitters’ backs. Seeing Haley make that catch at the end shows that we always trust our defense.” Notable after Game Two: --Oregon is off to a 7-0 start for the second straight season and for the sixth time in school history. --Ducks pitching combined to allow just five hits over 14 innings this weekend with 18 strikeouts and just two walks. --Breedlove and last night’s starter Brooke Yanez combined to retire 24 straight Bulldog hitters between the end of Saturday’s game and the start of today’s. --Ducks’ pitching now has 50 strikeouts to just six walks on the year while holding opponents to a .125 batting average. --Alyssa Brito led the way offensively, finishing the weekend 4-for-7 with a pair of home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored. On Deck: The Ducks return to Eugene before heading back to Arizona for a nonconference weekend featuring a pair of games against No. 1 UCLA and one vs. Utah starting Sunday.
  9. You are very generous, and I thank you so very much. I would like to think that a ton more people would enjoy this community if they knew about it...
  10. Whoa! Take a look at the top of the header, a drop-down menu called "Repository" next to the Directions. You have access to five of the major categories of the Oregon Football Repository immediately that is at the FishDuck article blog site. (And all the rest are easily available under the "More" option) ChileDuck's Depth Chart is right at the top as requested! There will be a drop-down for mobile phones too..
  11. Thanks Haywarduck, as since I have been so critical at times--I needed to consider many more points that have been forgotten over the last two months. Watching that show again was quite an eye-opener...
  12. They always talk about "Long" teams, but this team really does seem that way. The wingspan of Franck is simply amazing...
  13. You have no idea. My wife is very grateful for this diversion, as she is not sports oriented and does not want to hear another Duck sports story! BTW....David you are a peach to work with, and wish that so many of the writers in the past were as committed as you. We are fortunate to have a current team of savvy, experienced writers and editors that really get us pondering, and I'm delighted you decided to join our team in this last year.
  14. I chose this developer because he has worked on this software for a decade and knows it so incredibly well. He is proud, and really wants to help us with a shared vision...and as it turns out--he is in Sheffield, England! With the wonders of the present, we can have online meetings at 11:00 AM Pacific time and it is 7:00 PM for him, after dinner with the family and we can get a ton done. For quick communication? Whatsapp operates for text and phone calls on the cell phone like normal phone service and text messages. Easy-peasy! He does have a major project left and it will be interesting to see if he can create it ... and that is part of the entertainment of the journey. Thanks for your kind thoughts, and that of everyone. Charles
  15. Such an apt description. A shared passion...and so much fun. Love you all...
  16. My friends....so many of us are such crazy Duck fans....I was watching the Mens Basketball and following the Live Stats of the Softball at the same time, and if we'd had the Baseball game as originally planned....I would have had a third device for that! Ducks Tough Out Another Win by GoDucks.com (Mens Basketball) Mistakes by the Utes and clutch threes by the Ducks pull this one out... Ducks Beat Fresno State 10-2 (Box Score) by GoDucks.com (Softball) Clutch hitting and pitching! Article to come later.... I was hanging on all the plays, and it made me ponder just how much of a fan I am? To go back to 1978....Ducks...I am Hopelessly Devoted to You And I could not help but ponder the words of Robert Palmer in 1985...."I might as face it--I'm Addicted to Ducks" (Close to that!) If this was before your time? Trust me...these are iconic. Watch them and you'll see why....
  17. It quite a bit different with Rivals.com analysis, and why I respect their ratings over the years along with their consistency. Their ratings of our current 2022 commits is right here. Gracen Halton
  18. He is a 3-Star with Rivals, but as we know--that can certainly change by the end of the 2021 High School football season this next fall.
  19. Well my friends....we still have some very cool stuff to add, but dang...the learning curve is steep. I am currently at this moment putting together my notes for my online meeting with my forum developer tomorrow. So much to learn yet, and so many tweaks to make on behalf of everyone. I have not promoted the forum at all, (other than on FishDuck articles) as I am spending the time trying to learn how to operate everything. I am learning something new nearly every day--some of which is consequential. But this is the perfect time to do it, as this is the traditional slow time for Oregon Sports News and for forum activity until Spring Football starts. Would you ALL do me a Favor? --Post new topics as this is a slow time and there is nothing worse than a dead forum; I know that the other forums are slower on a proportionate basis, but we are just beginning, thus the membership is still...a cozy group. --Post responses with your thoughts to as many topics as possible; since there are not many--have some fun in conversation with this wonderful community! --I am open to any and all suggestions; the other day it was suggested to post a link to ChileDuck's Depth Chart, and it is on my list for work tomorrow with the Forum Developer. We are going to do it... --I am biased, but I am having fun with the background pictures, and I hope you like them as much as I do. The one up today of Franck Kepnang blocking a shot in the Colorado game the other night is pretty cool to me. And you can only see the background pictures when you are on desktop or pad. (Not on mobile phones) I really wish to thank all of you with your patience with me at times, and THANKS so much for your kind thoughts. When we add the FishDuck Feed each day....this is going to be a very fun place to find all that you need of everything DUCKS! My thanks to you again, Charles
  20. The Ducks are getting closer to making it official with Yates, and a Twitter account is a first sign... Check his bio and the Cal site before it goes right here. Pretty impressive and a great hire?
  21. Fresno State agreed to add a game, so the Ducks play the Bulldogs tonight at 6:00 PM and Sunday at 10:00 AM. Not on TV, but you can watch the Live Stream and the Stats right here on GoDucks.com to stay up on their game.
  22. This is really interesting, and while our RBs are not in the Top 10, it is because Seven McGee is listed as an "Athlete." Kinda fascinating seeing the schools at each position...and the surprises about the Ducks to me is the high ranking of the Tight Ends, and the lower-than-expected ranking of the offensive line. Thoughts?
  23. I like how they've moved up, but they need to go up more in the seeding if they want to make the Sweet Sixteen. See what is predicted at this point, but my question to you--how much higher a seed can they logically move up to? What is plausible as a goal? 24. Well, she played 21 minutes for five points and zero rebounds. (Yup, you read that right) The Womens had their lunch handed to them in a 27 point defeat to the Bruins 83-56. I think I will pass on any game recap, and instead enjoy the incredible background photo of Franck Kepnang blocking a shot, courtesy of photographer Gary Breedlove.
