  1. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon forward Taylor Hosendove was granted a waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play immediately for the Ducks. A two-time transfer who played one season at Clemson and two at Georgia State before arriving in Eugene, Hosendove has played in 83 career games and has scored 750 points and grabbed 550 rebounds in her collegiate career. The Atlanta, Ga. native led Georgia State in both scoring and rebounding in each of her two seasons with that program. Hosendove averaged 12.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in 2020-21 after putting up 11.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest in 2019-20. She started her collegiate career at Clemson and averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 boards over 32 games with the Tigers in 2018-19.
  2. Very cool, and thanks for posting this!
  3. Whew! He is a straight-shooter, both good and bad.... 'We're Not Getting Better:' Dana Altman is Brutally Honest About Oregon Ducks Basketball by Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire
  4. Well DuckHeart....I've enjoyed your posts, and this is one that perhaps one of the boatload of attorneys that read/post here can offer their thoughts on as well. Quite interesting..
  5. C J...you made me laugh! duck023....great to see you join this wonderful community and do post often. WELCOME!
  6. AllOregon....you are like a large number of new people who have joined us in the last couple of days, posted, and I have not yet welcomed you. I like your posts, and hope that you will continue to share your thoughts often with us and WELCOME!
  7. If you see something political...report it, and we will hide it from public view immediately. You won't have to read it for long! Just let us know...
  8. Me too. It is so refreshing on OBD to not have to sort through the nonsense to get to good posts. At OBD...we have a ton of very savvy people, and I love to read their takes. Just so you all know? Part of my strategy from the beginning (just over two months ago is all) was to structure this for the enjoyment and ease of the reader. Over 75% of those who come here, come to just read posts, hence I want to serve them well. And the other 25% that post their opinions? They read too! Thus why I have anal rules about paragraph or reading spaces after every three lines of text and tightening up the bottom of your post. It is all designed for the ease of the reader buzzing through posts. No other forum does this or cares. I am effectively taking my 24 years of experience of being on forums, and taking the publishing knowledge I acquired from FishDuck over the last decade and applying it to a forum. Again, something not done anywhere else... And thank you deschutesduck, as I love your posts and really appreciate you posting news articles.
  9. Yep, the accuracy is never the issue; the problem is the terrible site meltdowns that have occurred in the past here, and other sites due to the responses to those facts that quickly escalate. People can discuss politics everywhere else, but not here. There is the other element people forget; I do not want to know someone's politics, as it will later jade my view of their opinions about the Ducks. So, the less we know about each other in terms of politics, the better. And thank you Desert Duck, and I look forward to your always interesting posts!
  10. Actually....that is the easy part. I talk to OBD members every day and these are all GOOD PEOPLE, who want the same protections from the mean posters that I want. And it really isn't true about the half of 1% of posts being deleted....it is actually much less, (at least lately) even with all the activity. Why? Because we have a ton of GOOD PEOPLE who come here. And they reinforce my belief every day. It is so fun to discuss Our Beloved Ducks with others....disagree completely with some Duck-Buddies, and yet we don't get personal. Such a blessing!
  11. Amen, Duck-Brother. I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to tell someone what I thought of them and their idea, and then it hits me...."Charles, you cannot violate your own rules!" Yet a month ago...I messed up as we all do once in a while. I wrote something snappy to Haywarduck....a friend and moderator I love, and then 15 minutes later realized...."Charles, you idiot...you broke your own rule!" I went back in and saw that too many people had read it, thus I apologized in public and in private to Haywarduck. Being the great guy he is...he brushed it off, accepted it in a heartbeat and life goes on. Just as we do with "regulars" who mess-up on occasion. I need that slack too, and it goes to show...this is not easy, but that is what makes it special. Thanks 1Ducker1!
  12. And his post was edited and he will hear from me too. To everyone? I KNOW this is not easy, but what we have is EXCEPTIONAL and it will take that kind of effort to preserve it. And thank you CJ...
  13. I WANT disagreement, I WANT to see all views...and we can do so by simply stating our views and simply disagreeing....that's it! Give your opinion....that's it! No throwing "Group-Shade" at those who disagree with you...do not tell people to "grow up" or "deal with it" as that is rude, and normal behavior on the other sites. Not here. Other examples of trying to discourage or inhibit posting... (See No. 2 of the rules) "I don't want to hear anymore about this" "People...stop writing that, I am so tired of reading it." Both the examples above are trying to stop people from posting their view that this person disagrees with. This behavior of trying to inhibit future posts is forbidden, and that poster will be on thin ice with me... My Objective: Get all opinions on a Topic How do we Achieve That? Make people feel safe! How do we make people feel safe? Enforce rules that stop the behaviors that prevent people from posting or being hesitant from doing so. Other sites will moderate for opinions....and allow posters to intimidate, denigrate or bully minority views into silence. OBD moderates for behaviors that inhibit posting of all opinions...the opposite of what they do on other sites! Minority views will receive full protection, even if I don't agree with them. Even if they are a "end-of-the-spectrum" (wacko) view! A minority view three years ago can become a majority view now, and I am proof of that. And when you see an "end-of-the-spectrum" view....you will need to exercise impulse control.
  14. My friends...I do not like some of what is being written in a forum that is overtly supposed to be "polite and respectful" to one another. Truly ask yourself when you post... is this something that nice, reasonable people even want to read? You can write negative stuff (all of which is not only allowed but encouraged) without being disrespectful to those who disagree with you. Of course when I notify someone about it--on occasion I get what you see in the title....and I don't care. We will keep this as a GREEN REFUGE from the nastiness of the real world. One longtime member told me this morning..."you are trying to walk against a strong headwind of society today Charles..." He is right, but our amount of posting is so high, that I can remove a few culls and we will do just fine. Remember....just because you do not see any moderation happening--doesn't mean it is not. This morning a moderator caught a nasty post that had only been up 9 minutes! This means you don't even have to read the nonsense...and I love that. Every post is read. Posts are being deleted every day. People are being banned every week. Don't think you are above our rules. And for the 99.50% who post just fine? Know that we are taking out the trash and keeping this site clean every hour, every minute. You are being protected from the Trolls! And hug a moderator today! (They are the green posts) Rant over.
  15. Wow, UtahDuck, my friend...I have never disagreed with you more than that statement. I am very grateful that he is leaving....I am hoping the next coach can teach pass-blocking better.
  16. Yes, it was reported on this site by yours truly right here. And Utki? GREAT to see you back and posting! WELCOME.
  17. The worst Bruin coach ever? The fake-punt guy with little time remaining and a big lead? Jim Mora would be far better IMHO.
  18. Now...my thoughts! I do not see Chip or Wilcox as something that will work to our satisfaction over time. We would have had much more "clues" from them. Cal, under other coaches recruited well in the past, and have not under Wilcox. Lane Kiffin? I believe he would do well here, but you do not sign him to a contract. You rent him until his next gig, which won't be long. He will be superb on offense, but just his name shouts, "Mercenary" to me. As for ethics? Ask the Oregon coaches who recruited against him years back? Kiffin is the poster boy for negative recruiting, and he is an NCAA investigation in-waiting. In effect...he is "Urban Meyer-Light." This is why I did not want Cristobal to leave; the lack of great candidates coupled with so many openings. I could take another year of bad coaching with great recruiting... Kiffin will give you great entertainment, but you'll get kicked in the end.
  19. No sweat. We all mess up on occasion, and this was a good opportunity for me to explain it to everyone. Duck 72....Mentioning other sites is fine, and linking their FREE ARTICLES is fine. But the VIP stuff for only subscribers is off-limits. Everyone--keep in mind that I am a 20 year member of eDuck that turned into Duck Territory, and I do not post the tastiest stuff. If I mention it? It is after 24 hours so that their paid subscribers have first dibs to the information. The free articles over there? I post them here every day, and they want me to for the exposure. It is the pay-articles that are off-limits..
  20. Notification to EVERYONE about Posting Articles from Subscription Sites! Now I know latracey has his heart in the right place--wanting to share information with this great community, but we cannot do this again. And like you--I love his posts, and latracey is a valued member who is new, and did not know our rules. So this is an opportunity to explain to everyone, and WHY we do this. Rule No. 28 of our rules is very clear about this; we cannot copy content from subscription sites and bring it here. If anything was to be posted and get away with it with me...24 hours would need to pass from the publication of the article on the other site, and it would need to be a summary in your own words, and not a copy-and-paste. Why Do I Have This Rule? The sites work together on joint projects, and I am the low-man on the totem pole. The official photographer for Duck Territory, 247 is Craig Strobeck, who provides incredible pictures that I pay him for to use in our FishDuck articles, and for use in this forum. He shoots for BOTH sites, but 247 is the primary and ALLOWS me to subcontract with him as well. Torque 247 off--and it has big implications on so much else we do. The other reason? People over there pay for fast, immediate information from Matt, who does a good job. If people think they can get it for free at this site...they will cancel their membership over there. Enough of that happening and it can threaten the viability of sites like that. I want them in business to get the information...even if it is a day late. So...no more from the other sites. There are ways to discuss things without being blatant about it... One Action can unintendedly blow EVERYTHING up...
  21. I am still learning the software and do not know how to do to that yet! I think it requires some functionality turned on that I did not like, so I won't be able to any time soon. I have so much going on here, that I don't know where I'm headed....
  22. (From Oregon Athletics Press Release) EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux has been named to the final ballot for the 2021 Ted Hendricks Award, presented to the top defensive end in college football. The winner of the 2021 Ted Hendricks Award will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 9. DE Kayvon Thibodeaux – Ted Hendricks Award Finalist » Pac-12 All-Conference First Team. » Bronko Nagurski Trophy finalist. » Chuck Bednarik Award finalist. » Pro Football Focus Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. » Two-time Pac-12 Defensive Player and Defensive Lineman of the Week. » Tied for third in the Pac-12 with seven sacks and fourth with 12.0 tackles for loss. » 91.5 pass-rush grade by PFF, ninth-best among FBS edge defenders. » 48 total QB pressures according to PFF, second-most among Pac-12 defenders. » Multi-sack performances vs. both UCLA and Washington State. » Career-high 4.5 TFLs in win at UCLA, the most by a Duck since 2017. » Tied for seventh in Oregon history with 19.0 career sacks.
  23. Now that, Lucca, is a fantastic first post. Please keep sharing your thoughts and WELCOME!
  24. Chip Kelly the Favorite to be next Oregon Head Coach? Could we be headed towards a reunion in Eugene? Oddsmakers believe that Oregon is headed for a reunion of some kind. Whether it ends up being a former head coach or a former player. The former Oregon head coach is given +175 odds, or an implied 36.4% chance to land the job. Not far behind him is Justin Wilcox. The former Oregon defensive back and current Cal head coach is given +200 odds, or an implied 33.3% chance to land the job. While the two former Ducks are the favorites. There are some other strong candidates. Recently fired Panthers Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady is given +400 odds, or an implied 20% chance to land his first head coaching gig. Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin is given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance. Arguably the biggest name in college football on the list is Kalani Sitake. The BYU head coach is given +600 odds, or an implied 14.3% chance to leave his alma mater for a chance to lead Oregon. Noticeably absent from the odds is Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer. Meyer has been among the top-5 to land every other major college head coach opening, but he’s not even listed as a possibility for Oregon. Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “This list is an uninspiring one for Oregon. Chip Kelly was once one of college football’s best coaches. Since returning to the college scene though he’s struggled. Kelly is 18-25 with UCLA, posting his first winning season in 2021. Justin Wilcox is 26-28 and 15-25 in conference with Cal. He’s never had a winning conference record. Joe Brady has never been a head coach and was just fired for having one of the worst offenses in the NFL for a second year in a row. Harsin finished his first year at one of the SEC’s premier colleges with a 6-6 record, their first time at .500 or worse since 2015 and only the 4th time since 2000. Kalani Sitake would be an excellent hire, but he’s coaching his alma mater who’s moving to the BIG 12 making it unlikely he’d leave. It truly seems that Oregon is destined for an underwhelming hire if the odds are to be believed.”
  25. Kurt....it is GREAT to see you back posting again. And THANKS for putting in the reading/paragraph spaces every three lines. (GET THE HINT EVERYONE? If text is tightly bunched...people won't read your post. They skip it)
