  1. To me, it was fun when we caught them by surprise with the two-pointers.
  2. It was great to see Coach Smith mess up, and reminds me that sometimes you can succeed by the other team's mistakes. He responds to questions about it... Question: Are you second guessing the two point tries? COACH SMITH: "We’re coming down here to win the game and if you play the game with the normal strategy, you’re going to end up tying and trying to match their score. We were going to go for two to try to win the game. So the logic is, you go for two earlier so you know how that plays out, so then you can have your strategy based off of it after. Not totally second guessing it." Miscalculations can hurt...
  3. Anthony Brown showed us that today, as so many of the crossing patterns that he threw behind receivers and killed drives with in prior games were on-the-money today. A good QB with a good running game can really chew up opponents and will leave me with a few, "what-if" questions. But regardless of next week--I will enjoy 10 wins, but a Rose Bowl wouldn't suck. That first half was a dream....the defense holding the Beavers to only three points and the offense scoring on all four possessions? We played smarter and cruised into halftime...
  4. I am still in disbelief! But Anthony Brown did show us what can happen when a quarterback is accurate. The plays have been there...
  5. I don't know if I want to eat crow...they're pretty smart! They do this on the street l live all the time. Drop the walnuts and filberts on the street and clean up!
  6. Agreed. He has a ways to go, but if he will continue to grow...
  7. Great to see you join us DUCKBILL, and please do post your thoughts often. WELCOME!
  8. OregonLive does not have editors. At FishDuck we have editors only because they volunteer their expertise and time. What is interesting is how most of them come from the fields of technology and law. "Writers like to create, and editors like to perfect the work." We are lucky to have them! Phil Anderson, the FishDuck.com Volunteer editor for this article, is a trial lawyer in Bend Oregon. Bob Rodes, the FishDuck.com Volunteer editor for this article, is an IT analyst, software developer and amateur classical pianist in Manchester, Tennessee. Andrew Mueller, the FishDuck.com Volunteer Editor for this article, works in higher education in Chicago, Illinois. Natalie Liebhaber, the FishDuck.com Volunteer Editor for this article, works in the financial technology industry in Bozeman, Montana.
  9. Kind of interesting going into the 12th game of the Cristobal's fourth year. Trikweze Bridges says Defense 'Wants to Redefine Itself' on Saturday by Erik Skopil of Duck Territory 247 Sports
  10. Several confirmed their pursuit of Cristobal in the last day? Miami Boosters Want Team to Pry Away Prominent Pac-12 Coach? by Darryn Albert of Larry Brown Sports
  11. Fans everywhere are fickle. No biggie.
  12. There will be tons of negative next time, sure, but the feedback I've been getting is confusion. I don't want to discourage posting of any type, as I want to see all opinions--so we let everyone post everything, (provided they are nice to each other) and I'll let the few who go overboard know in private. I made a BIG MISTAKE discussing a couple of specific cases in public in the forum recently, and I needed to quickly reverse course and not restrain people. Not what I intended on this one...
  13. Whew! Powerful stuff in my world, so concise and true..
  14. My friends, there has been a lot of confusion about writing negative and what venting is? Forget about all of it--WRITING NEGATIVE is fine, as that is what we do here! We discuss player performance and coaching decisions, and it is negative a good bit of the time. Belay which? I don't know WHAT to do! As long as you follow our rules of being nice to each other? You are fine. Now if anyone goes beyond and is venting? I'll let them know in private, and I'll be nice about it! (Nothing in public again!) Some members here have been reluctant to post because, "well it is negative and I don't want to violate the rules." This is my fault, as the difference between writing negative and venting is not clear, so I want to let you all know to not worry about the degrees or gradations. Just--go for it! No More Decisions...Negative is Fine? Whew! It'll be good to move again!
  15. No details on what he is being paid and the source of the additional funding. Perhaps that will come out later... (And THANKS for posting this deschutesduck!)
  16. Very cool Richard, and WELCOME to the forum!
  17. And that Coach of the Aztecs is one of the great coaching mysteries ever....Brady Hoke. Terrible DC, but failed upward!
  18. I've seen quite a few of these articles, and today had one in the Eugene R-G by Don Kahle, who usually writes a bunch of fluffy nonsense. But he proposed a bunch of new name candidates, and the vast majority matched the level of his typical missives, but a few caught my eye. I would love your thoughts and suggestions as well. The Oregon Classic (This is what it was known as prior to 1937, and should be considered a leading candidate?) The Platypus Bowl The Platypus Cup (This is my second favorite) War for the Willamette Willamette War (This is my favorite as it is short--has our violence embedded and has a bit a alliteration.) Willamette River Rivalry Oregon War The Oregon Bowl Boss of the Moss RainBowl The Reign in the Rain Turf War Slugfest Thoughts?
  19. Good to see some progress, and now to check out an OLB, who has been injured most of the season. Linebacker Keith Brown Out, TE DJ Johnson Questionable for Oregon State by Graham Metzker of Ducks Digest
  20. Hello My OBD Forum Friends! Lets get these predictions started and remember I look for the spread with then the closest score that has the spread correct. The data I need from you is: (entries without all the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count as I am not going to hunt them all down) --the winner --the score, and the tiebreaker information needed from each of you is... --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards. My guess is: Oregon 34-31, 1, 2, 240
  21. This is a good article, but I would add that the Tight Ends of Oregon State are from in-state and are excellent. On offense, the Beavers do not have a weakness like the Ducks. Beaver Offense will Present a Multi-Faceted Attack Against the Ducks by Don Smalley of Ducks Wire
  22. I like their analysis and game predictions the best, and this one gives me some comfort! Oregon State vs. Oregon Football Prediction and Preview by John Coon of Athlon Sports
  23. Humor-writer Kim Hastings made an encore article for us to have some fun pondering our rival, Oregon State. Enjoy! The 12 Days of Beavis by Kim Hastings of FishDuck
