Are Oregon Transfers Forever Ducks?
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great ponder point David! It is apparent that people approach it differently with their own set of criteria, and I would not have thought that until I read all the posts above me. It is amazing how the portal has messed up our thoughts about school loyalty! All those touchdowns by Travis Dye vs. UCLA in 2021.... ...and yet I have a sour feeling about him. -
Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus Michigan State? Take your shot and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 30-13 3 3 281 The Last Time No. 8 wore yellow vs. Michigan State...

Gonzaga to Pac12 Effective July 1, 2026
Charles Fischer replied to HDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well, this helps OSU Baseball, as the Bulldogs have a baseball team that in some years has been pretty good. Pretty big blow to the WCC, and I'm sure Beavis took that into account? -
The Pac-12 After Dark Lives On
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Amen Duck-Brother....Oregon is not peaking on offense yet, but we had the full game of UCLA and the last half of Civil War that showed us superb defense. Can they keep it up? Can the offense continue to improve? Fun to watch for! -
I was reading Canzano, who referred to the remaining Washington State schedule as "winnable," meaning that they play Oregon State, Boise State, and the rest of their Mountain West opponents. He felt that they could end up 10-2, or 9-3 at the least. You know, it is pretty damn hard to win 10 games in a Power-4 conference, and yet they could have those bragging rights, Mountain West or not. I recall that the Cougars have made big cuts to their athletic program, but Oregon State announced that they plan to fund their athletic department like a Power-4 program. I am not sure how that happens with the upcoming media contract, of which will be dramatically less than before, but I digress. If Beavis did have full NIL, and a real shot at ten wins every year? They could live in a happy-happy mid-lin zone, where they do a lot more winning, and yet can attract players with NIL. Looking at their schedule, they have Boise State, and WSU left, and among the others....it really says something when Cal is perhaps the most formidable foe besides? Damn...they won't have much media exposure, but I'll be their fans would love all the winning. If Beavis wins a game in the forest...does anyone hear it? I wonder if they regret scheduling Oregon yet? That is such a cool photo!

Evan Stewart was open a number of times and not seen.....but I am grateful that Gabriel is here considering what other teams are going through.

I like the idea of automatic bids to playoffs for four B1G teams, and if that pushes the Playoff to 16 teams....good! This article below was in another thread, but I wanted YOUR feedback; agree with it? Report: SEC, Big Ten looking for 4 automatic bids each to College Football Playoff - On3 WWW.ON3.COM The Big Ten and SEC could come together on a scheduling partnership, according to ESPN's Heather Dinich.

Is Michigan State the Appetizer Before Ohio State?
Charles Fischer replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Every team can beat us, and we need every win we can get. "Fear none, but respect all," is my favorite expression in this context. Rather than appetizer, I would prefer to think of the game as an important test, a chance to get better, and an opportunity for a win. This team needs to get mentally tougher, as Mike West pointed out, IMHO. -
The school with the most NCAA championships in all sports is Stanford with 136, but UCLA is No. 2 with 123, while Oregon is No. 15 with 34. The Bruins do bring a ton in non-revenue sports, as it seems they are winning a volleyball or water-polo championship every other year. They, like Oregon, are going to bring some new competitiveness to the B1G in a number of sports, but not football...yet.

Finally....a Fade Pass in the End Zone!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It just occurred to me, that it is two straight games that Kasper has had a pass interference on him. Against Beavis, the corner hung onto an arm to prevent the long completion and this may answer why he is playing before other receivers? -
Ducks Move to No. 6 in Latest Poll
Charles Fischer replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm good with it. We need to truly prove ourselves of being in the top-5, a group that is pretty loaded and impressive. -
I wanted to pin this thread begun by HDuck, (thank you) because it really relates not only us all, but for me--it has been a gut-punch. The creator of the local Oregon sports magazine, "Fighting Ducks Illustrated" and Oregon football equipment manager back in the 70s...and movie-maker Jerry Thompson died of cancer a few weeks ago. Jerry and I worked together over the last 13 years promoting each others endeavors, and he has been a good friend to me. He loved Oregon Baseball as much as I, and we had great bitching, or great hooting sessions over the phone about the recent Duck Diamond exploits. He also wrote articles for FishDuck.com, and featured my analysis articles often in his magazine. He cared so much about Our Beloved Ducks, and for everyone in his sphere and truly was "one-of-the-good-guys." He was loved, and will be remembered. He made an impact...

Some of us have lusted for this play for a long time, especially with the way Stanford used to abuse us with that play. Kyler Kasper is 6'6" and perfect for a high throw in the end zone, and this time he got former Duck, Jaylin Davies, fourth interference penalty in four games. I like that as an option, even when they know it is coming. Throw it high, catch it at the high point and the typical corner cannot stop it.

Oh yeah. But in my case it is assumed, as I wait for the FishDuck writer to send in the article, check things, and then wait for the photographer to get me pictures. Then sort the pictures and load into my storage platform, and add the pictures to the writer's article. (Which takes longer than you would think) Then figure out the prediction contest, write a post or two, and yep...it is 1:40 AM. Too late for this old fart, but I've been doing this routine for 13 years with the two websites... I am back on my low-inflammation diet of which is helping my arthritic back, and no beer is allowed. (The only part of the diet that is a killer to me personally) To ALL: Let's all not judge others in posts for their opinions, it is OK to be disappointed or delighted with the result. We just trade opinions here...

So, the Backup QB is...Austin Novosad?
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I did not think of that, and it makes good sense. Plausible, makes sense, but still a surprise. When the sportscasters were prepped and ready to talk about Moore, then they must have been given the impression that Moore was No. 2? Interesting stuff. -
Is something brewing? Late in the game when Oregon was sitting Dillon Gabriel and the sportscasters were introducing Dante Moore, and talking up how the coaches loved what they saw of him in camp, etc...but look who came out to run the offense as the No. 2 quarterback? Austin Novosad! The 6'3" redshirt freshman really impressed me in the Bowl game, and the Spring Game, and I felt he would give Moore a run for the No. 2 slot. What do you make of this? Is it legit? Or were the coaches trying to avoid blowback with playing Moore at UCLA? Do you think it was a wake-up call to Moore that he is not anointed, but must improve and work for it? Or is Novosad better? This could have tons of implications going forward in so many directions. Or is it a head-fake?

First let's look at the results: Oregon won 34-13 with two turnovers, four sacks and 278 yards passing. The Winner: 1Ducker1 as he had 36-14 prediction for only a total of three points off. Wow! DanLduck was close with a 38-13 prediction, and only four points off, while most of us were a lot farther away. I believe 1Ducker1 has won before, and he was tuned into the spirit of the day. Congrats to him, and thanks to all for submitting an entry, and having some fun with it!
