Is something brewing? Late in the game when Oregon was sitting Dillon Gabriel and the sportscasters were introducing Dante Moore, and talking up how the coaches loved what they saw of him in camp, etc...but look who came out to run the offense as the No. 2 quarterback? Austin Novosad! The 6'3" redshirt freshman really impressed me in the Bowl game, and the Spring Game, and I felt he would give Moore a run for the No. 2 slot. What do you make of this? Is it legit? Or were the coaches trying to avoid blowback with playing Moore at UCLA? Do you think it was a wake-up call to Moore that he is not anointed, but must improve and work for it? Or is Novosad better? This could have tons of implications going forward in so many directions. Or is it a head-fake?

First let's look at the results: Oregon won 34-13 with two turnovers, four sacks and 278 yards passing. The Winner: 1Ducker1 as he had 36-14 prediction for only a total of three points off. Wow! DanLduck was close with a 38-13 prediction, and only four points off, while most of us were a lot farther away. I believe 1Ducker1 has won before, and he was tuned into the spirit of the day. Congrats to him, and thanks to all for submitting an entry, and having some fun with it!

Oregon Ducks Football: UCLA Takeaways
Charles Fischer replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Alex, it was great to have your feedback from the Rose Bowl pressbox! I think most Oregon fans are still wrestling with how we feel about it. We are always grateful for a win, but... -

Oregon GameDay Thread versus UCLA: Join Us!

Gabried threw to where he thought Tez Johnson would be, but Tez slipped and fell down, thus the pass seemed to go directly to Addison. He remains pretty accurate! -
Oregon GameDay Thread versus UCLA: Join Us!
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Very cool, as Alex is our FishDuck.com correspondent at the UCLA game in the Press Box! This does not happen very often anymore, so it’s great to get impressions from Alex while he is there. -
Here we are my Duck-Buddies, the thread for pondering the actual game as it happens. Let's discuss before, and during the game! The vast majority of you are GREAT in this thread, but you must remember that this forum is different, as we require civilized discourse. Discussion of negative is fine, but don't vent on us! Rule No. 31d covers GameDay Thread Conduct, and it is not hard for the vast majority of us--just a tiny few who need to reign it in when things don't go well for Our Beloved Ducks. Let's Have Fun Posting During the Game! A Decade Ago...

And the Memphis Athletic Director flat-out said the Scrap-12 offer was not better than what they had in the AAC? Somebody!

We do NOT discuss the Oregon game here, as we will have a separate GameDay thread for our game, but all the others out there in CFB in this thread. (I will delete posts about the Oregon game, as we need to keep the discussions separate) Do provide score updates when you can, as well as your thoughts of what you saw.

New Uniform For Michigan State?
Charles Fischer replied to DrJacksPlaidPants's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
So true, and the pictures from that game with the yellow background will be awesome! Look at that! It will be a similar uniform to that epic 2014 game! -
Washington vs. Rutgers: "Good-or-Good?"
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Unbelievable. A game Washington should have won, almost easily. Three missed field goals, (when they lost by only three) a dumb celebration penalty after they blocked a Rutgers FG, then the Knights score a TD on the next play? Then TONS of dumb penalties that killed their drives. Of course they won't play that way when they come to Eugene... -
THAT is one great title for a thread...LOVE IT!

(Before you castigate me, please reread my first sentence.) dksez...you are new here, and thus expect it to be the same as other sites. People can disagree here, heck I WANT disagreement, I want to see all views on a topic, and thus I learn from others and we all become better fans as a result. But nobody can go after anyone on a personal basis. Disagree with your opinion? Sure, but everyone has to be "polite and respectful" to fellow OBD members. How do you safely post here? Just what you did...give your opinion, your facts, your rationale with the topic and that is it. Nothing about anyone else or taking shots personally, and you were perfect. We have a ton of women on this forum because it is the only safe place for them to express their views about Our Beloved Ducks anywhere. They know we have 14 moderators who hide offending posts immediately, and the violator will hear from yours-truly. I have pages of people banned over the last three years because they could not control themselves. Bye. We manage it for safety and civility; it is the only GREEN REFUGE out there, the forum-with-decorum, and it does not fit for the majority of fans. But for this community--it is perfect. Welcome, and do keep posting!

Washington vs. Rutgers: "Good-or-Good?"
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Damn. The King-of-the-One-Liners comes through again! Thanks for the hearty laugh... -
We do not play Rutgers, and we do the Bastard-Huskies, thus Washington winning could help Oregon's ranking at the end of the season. But Washington losing is never a bad thing either.... For Oregon Fans, it is Good-or-Good! Who do you want to win and why?

Hello My OBD FishDuck Forum Friends! What is your prediction versus UCLA? Take your shot, and let's have fun with it... Lets get these predictions started, and remember I look for the differential between your predicted points with both teams from the actual points. I will use the tiebreaker information when needed, so provide all the data below! Entries without ALL the information are invalid, and predictions on other threads don't count. Please follow directions, as I need all that is below for tiebreakers: --the winner --the score --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. My prediction is: Oregon 52-17 3 4 282 We did well in Los Angeles last time... I LOVE this picture from FishDuck.com Photographer Tom Corno... ...such vivid background color, and a cool sack coming!

Report (9:00 PM, Wed): UNLV and Air Force Staying in Mt. West
Charles Fischer replied to HDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In the past, the Mountain West has actually done pretty well in the NCAA Tournament between San Diego State and Utah State, thus the Scrap-12 might be a little stronger Basketball conference? It does put the OSU Baseball team in a tough spot, because only Beavis, the Cougs, SDST and Fresno State have a Baseball team...not enough for a real league schedule. They would be better served to be a part of the Big-West conference for Baseball, IMHO. -
This is another offsetting component in our favor, and it is a B1G one. Yet when you do not have a single 4 or 5-Star in-state, and I consider all the talent in the south that the biggies hardly have to travel for....it is really a tall barrier. Again, the success is remarkable considering that handicap. But the question is whether we can break into the "elite" recruiting status, and that is yet to be seen, IMHO.
-
Agreed. There are years where you need a ton of new talent, and thus sign more players and get more in the rankings as a result. But when you need fewer, and get super-high quality that fits your objectives--you are not as rewarded in the rankings. BTW, the 4.13 average recruit ranking is No. 1 in the nation at the moment. Ahead of Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, etc.

Report (9:00 PM, Wed): UNLV and Air Force Staying in Mt. West
Charles Fischer replied to HDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Your summary was perfect, Now we can laugh about how pathetic the Scrap-2 have become, or mourn the incredibly rapid descent of the conference of champions. Lower than Mountain West? Whew! That did not take long! -
Whoa! The Mountain West is Making a New Big Move...
Charles Fischer replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I shouldn't be so harsh...I'm sure the smart people in Corvallis, and Pullman know exactly what they are doing.
