  1. I like Mario as a person and his recruiting skills, I might sue him for my liver damage due to his play calling in game but my lawyer says not to go into specifics. That said what Mario taught me was recruiting was important but not everything... it's like lincoln riley relying offense or kirby smart relying on defense and then getting clobbered... you need both... recruiting and coaching and offense and defense to win the big games. I wish mario the best at Miami and I'll definitely be curious to see how he does.
  2. I realize Cristobal hasn't been head coach for a Miami game yet but i'm going to have to call a time out on this comment.
  3. "If Oregon loses week one to Georgia (that matchup will be full of storylines, by the way), then the Ducks’ path to the playoff may be nonexistent. The committee does not hold the Pac-12 and their strength of schedule in high regard." Does Auburn who finished 6th in the SEC West this season think they're getting to the playoffs next year? I should mention I don't think we will be going to the playoffs next year but just found that funny as a reason.
  4. The more I think about it the more I like it and i'm not a fan of Bo Nix or bringing in transfer QB's normally... i do tend to feel a bit of loyalty to the guys putting in their time... that said... It adds competition to the QB room, his stats might not be much better than AB but he was playing in a tougher conference. His first 2 years he was playing for Malzahn who is as much of a QB whisper as Mario is. It shows DL and Dilly have been doing a bit of research and aren't sitting on their laurels. If the 3 guys we have now weren't better than AB last year why should we assume they'll be better than him next year? Let's get some insurance we have a tough schedule next year. The QB might be the most unfair position in football because backups rarely get a chance to shine outside of an injury to the starter.
  5. It's not overly surprising since Dillingham was his OC at Auburn in 2019. I just hope the other QB's on the roster wait till spring practice is over before making any transfer decisions.
  6. good point, especially since that number was from 2019 in the before times
  7. I'm not entirely sure, i've heard a travel budget is also included in addition to that but can't remember where I saw that
  8. Starting to look like it, Utah State's defense is smothering them. Also the Utah St 3d string qb on his first play changed the play at the line of scrimmage and threw a touchdown as his first pass. I want to see if our backups are even remotely comparable or if we need to be finding someone in the transfer portal.
  9. Utah State starting QB had to leave the game vs Oregon State tonight. Sophomore #3 backup QB is 9/16 155 yards 2 TD and 0 INT... he had never thrown a pass in college before...
  10. That $8.2 million is the total payout from 2019, in 2020 it was $9 million, not sure what it is this year, this is split between the teams though. Financial impact to San Antonio is way more, over $30 million
  11. I felt it was kinda hard to judge since their starting QB was out, although the backup has won a few games for them. They certainly didn't look like a team to be afraid of... that last turnover was almost comical it was like the WR caught it and was like "ahh what's this thing get it away from me".
  12. @30Duck I disagree... we can't look at the bowl game as we better sit them cause they might get injured situation, even with all the players skipping the bowl playing in front of a big crowd to Oklahoma would still be valuable experience. If we try to protect our QB too much we wind up with a Justin Herbert that doesn't get to show off his game winning legs till the last 2 games of his career.
  13. actually if he's trying to poach players it would be in his best interest to try to win so he looks like a good coach wouldn't it?
  14. I read that earlier and thought the author just seemed all over the place with his thinking.
  15. I could be wrong on it being a boon to recruiting but it seems like a position to free up time for the head coach, handle smaller issues with the coaches and players, and just kinda make sure things are running smoothly. (I would definitely be the wrong person to draft a job opening ad for it) He did seem to get a lot of behind the scenes credit for Georgia and Texas A&M recruiting classes although his title was different.
  16. I have to admit i had no idea what a football chief of staff was... spoiler... should be really good for our recruiting The linked article is from 2018 just FYI
  17. Kinda hoping he's just playing his cards close to his chest so as to not tip off Oklahoma... but not holding my breath
  18. That's going to be a rough schedule.... sure wouldn't mind trading with UCLA
  19. I realize the big reason behind us having a small class was the coaching changes but what Kiffin says makes sense "Kiffin said he expects the portal to fill up after bowl season and again after spring practices. The coach wouldn't say how many scholarships he's holding onto, but he did say it's "much higher" than the number of players he signed. The plan is to keep adding the best talent throughout the year, not to prioritize adding the most talent in one window. Kiffin is playing the "patience game."
  20. I think it was nice of Urban to make Chips run in the NFL look like a wild success
  21. Apparently the day isn't over yet, Ben Roberts a 3 or 4 star dl from Utah just signed
