  1. Or if he doesn't he hires a good OC and actually lets them do the play calling...
  2. I'm excited about this hire, I think he has potential to be a great head coach and I think this is the speech @webfootfan was referencing.
  3. Clearly the team knows DuckSportsAuthority @DSArivals is retweeting tons of people about it yikes haha I didn't expect that to post so many retweets from DSA so I removed it but you can see it here https://twitter.com/DSArivals
  4. I remember someone saying Kelly Graves was listening, I think Verone McKinley logged is as well but i don't think either participated. The most people i saw on it was 1.6k but I had it playing in the background most of the time while i was doing other things.
  5. it was a twitter spaces chat with Dan's brother, which i had never even hard of before last night... it's kinda like hosting your own radio station talk show. i definitely missed quite a bit of it but He said he was a little skeptical on the rumors as his brother has always told his family before taking a new job and he hasn't heard anything so far. He thinks it would be a good job and he could see his brother taking it but that's just his own opinion. He doesn't think his brother has a dream school to coach at. Dan has a beach house in Florida... Gabriel Sewell jumped in, he said Dan was one of Noah's primary recruiters at Georgia and he'd be happy to have him coaching. He didn't care too much if the HC was a defensive or offensive guy but wanted a balanced team. He also said he bore no ill will towards Mario, he recognizes this is a business and appreciated how he took care of his sons. Gabriel and Jackson Powers-Johnson dad both said the sooner a coach is hired the better but I guess that's to be expected. Dan's brother also mentioned that even though Kirby is a defense guy Dan did all the defensive play calling.

  8. I'm totally dvring a few Miami games next year just to see if they're as dreadfully boring.
  9. Maybe but just because someone hasn't lived on the west coast before doesn't mean they wouldn't love it here.
  10. UCLA fans right now... "dammit" I'll have to do a bit of research cause i'm not familiar with him at all but I do like the idea of hiring someone young and apparently rising rapidly.
  11. you can listen online here if you don't get that station
  12. No clue, but I kinda think it might wind up being a hire outside of those 3. I also can't wrap my head around paying a $9 million buyout to UCLA to get chip before Jan 15th when it drops to zero... but on the other hand recruits and players would be freaking out if we didn't have a head coach for another month.
  13. I was listening to a podcast by James Crepea interviewing a Cal local reporter and it came off as he'd be really surprised if Wilcox took the Oregon job. The gist of it was that he didn't think he'd like the publicity? notoriety? i can't think of the right word of being the HC at Oregon vs Cal and that the only reason he probably took the interview was he was frustrated by the problems COVID had caused for the program. He also said he has really good support from the boosters at Cal and they usually step up whenever he needs something. I'd be surprised if Kalani left his alma mater when they're already doing well and poised to jump to the Big 12 in a couple years.
  14. My apologies to everyone, I was one of the offenders and actually logging back in to change the title to please delete because i realized it was kinda dumb.
  15. That twitter account for Tattoo Baker is a train wreck... i wouldn't take anything posted there seriously
  16. Peterson doesn't need a rehab program though, he stepped down on his own, admittedly after a not great season but his overall record speaks for itself. If Chip is hired a top notch DC should be the most important hire.
  17. Everyone freaking out, just think how the Miami guys are going to feel when the Chip led Ducks put up 78 points on Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl
  18. we'll have to agree to disagree @Warrenton Players aren't recruited by the school they're recruited by the coaches, sold on the system they're running. Commiting doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme of things, players can change their minds and coaches can revoke a scholarship offer whenever they want anyways. Until Oregon hires a new head coach it has the direction of a rudderless sailboat.
  19. Look at how fans are losing their minds over the head coaching search and now imagine being a teenager trying to navigate your future which you hope lands you in the NFL. Also decommitting doesn't mean they won't recommit after a new coach is hired.
  20. it kinda felt like target fixation to me, at some point some booster saw he was a top name in coaching and from Miami and started pushing to hire him... avalanche ensued but they never really took the time to sit down and see how painful his games were to watch. I imagine he'll do well in the ACC but be fired in 3 years.
