  1. Thanks for the timely post on a day when the Power 2 Poohbahs are meeting in Nashville to decide the future of the sport. I see a continuing movement toward consolidation and professionalism. Roster management will return to CFB once the players can collectively bargain with 'management.' Management will consist of the leaders of the Super Conference. The 34 Power 2 football-playing members are as likely to decrease in number as it is to increase to form the Super Conference. Congress will provide NFL-like relief from litigation once a contract between the players and 'management' is in place. This week, the NCAA cut the time allowed to enter the 'football portal.' I expect this cut to be litigated soon. The cost of ending 'amateurism' is the inevitable move toward professionalism. The NFL could not exist without restraints on transfers and salary cap limits. Super Conference antitrust issues will be 'controlled' in part by a House settlement-like 'salary cap' that I believe will end up closer to $50M a year than the House @$20M a year. Only the biggest boys on the block will be able to ante-in. Stay tuned to what comes out of today's Power 2 gathering in Nashville.
  2. The NCAA yet again is many days too late and millions of dollars short. High School draft? NFL Lite could have a draft with restrictions on 'rookie' pay, a salary cap as is the case if the House settlement is approved, with no limits on NIL as is the case in the NFL, restrictions on player transfers, and limited rosters. I'm not certain there will be any academic requirements, but if so, expect a 'Football Major.' All of the above will be negotiated between 'management' and a 'players union.' The top teams will join to collectively negotiate with the media including a super-conference network that will directly market game inventory as is the case with the NFL Network. Parity will provide the greatest money for all concerned as is the case with the NFL. The recruiting dollars and coaching salary escalation will be tampered down by recruiting budgets being replaced by scouting budgets. With an HS draft, coaches will not have to be salesmen except when players have the bargained-for ability to 'transfer' as free agents. When the NCAA's college football broadcast monopoly ended in the mid-1980s, the move away from academics, and student-athletes, and toward professionalism was inevitable. In the 1980s very few if any of us thought that gambling on college football would not only be allowed but encouraged. College sports gaming is just one more step toward college 'amateur' sports going pro. Pandora has left the box.
  3. 'Flight attendant, can I have a pillow?' 3 time zones. No Rose Bowl week-long bruhaha with dinner at Lowry's. No victory close to a win over No. 17 Boise State. Same stats basically vs Sparty with 2 Red Zone Ints from Gabe and a TD drop from Fergie. No experience playing in a 'Laugh-it-off Brutus, It Is Not A Worthy Stadium!' The best D tOSU has faced is Iowa. A team without a complimentary O that shut Ohio State down in the 1st half. Not like OBD has been 'All That?' Our Tail Feathers Preseason Kissed Ducks were not ready from the get-go but the team that played Idaho and Boise State is not what we will see This Saturday Night Live. This is the Saturday, with an extra day of rest, we will see OBD advancing from preseason butt kissing, and ready to get off of the rope-a-dope; putting it all together to Walk Like A B1G Champion? 'Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.' Marcus Aurelius. What's that? Mike Tyson? Like tOSU players I couldn't find the library. These Bucks need to be schooled and the Chipper ruled!
  4. Ducks Ranked 2nd, Bucks Ranked 3rd. Make It So After the Game. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/nbc-turns-heads-with-ohio-state-vs-oregon-update
  5. Thanks, Darren. The level of competition has not been all that; however, the Buckeyes D has surrendered 28 points in its last four games. (LOL. Paul Finebaum dumps on Ohio State's 2024 OOC schedule shortly before No. 1 Bama and No.4 Tennessee lose to unranked teams and Mizzou is undressed in College Station.) Paul, here are a few of the Ohio State University's future OOC games. Texas 2025/26. Alabama 2027/28, and Georgia 2029/30. With the Power 2 Poohbahs meeting in Nashville ((Nashville, Paul, Nashville, also known in Tuscaloosa as Mashville 😁)) tomorrow, I expect we will see more B1G/SEC regular season matchups down the road, in Autzen, and on the road.) In the 2nd half this season Ohio State has outscored its opponents 119-10. In its last three games, OBD has outscored the opposition 114-37. OBD has a Top 25 win vs No. 17 Boise State. This will be the Buckeyes 1st game vs a Top 25-ranked team. Will a Three Time Zone trip, trip the Bucks up? Go Ducks! Crush the Nuts!
  6. More Chipper Love for Autzen. Coach Speak or Assistant Coach Speak?😁 Chip Kelly shares anticipation for Ohio State’s trip to Autzen Stadium: ‘It’s truly special’ SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Chip Kelly couldn't be more fired up for his return to Eugene for Ohio State's Saturday night showdown against Oregon.
  7. Great Article, Mr. FD. Here's a Look at Will's QB, Gabe, From ESPN. Will Oregon's offense tailor-made for Dillon Gabriel pay off? - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Though Dillon Gabriel is well on his way to another prolific season, Oregon isn't quite operating the way it was last season.
  8. Oregon is a rare home UnderDuck at +3.5. Ohio State could be the only Top 25 opponent left on Oregon's schedule when the Committee releases its final 2024 ranking on 12/8/24. Michigan is totering. Wink Martindale's pass D is worse than DC Don Brown's, a DC canned by Harbaugh. The offense? Bo (not Nix) would love this O. Illinois has little room for error. 24 Michigan plays at 23 Illinois on the 19th in The Red Grange Game. The next Saturday the Illini visit Eugene. Illinois finishes the regular season at 4-1 Rutgers. Fisch and company have done a terrific job building a team from scratch. 2 UW WRs are in the top 5 most receptions in the B1G. UW wins at Iowa this Saturday and a 4-2 UW might be closing in on being ranked. I still believe a 10-2 Oregon without a bad loss is in the PO field. Thank you, 17. Boise State. Oregon's SOS for seeding purposes, without a P4 opponent OOC, may not be all that. Week 7; at the halfway point of this 14-week regular season, this could be the OBD's only chance to capture a Signature P4 Win. Playing in the Big House is a B1G deal but on the same Saturday, Ohio State plays at Penn State. Go Ducks! Crack the Nuts!
  9. Good point. However, Ohio State is -3.5. It's not often Puddles is a home Under Duck.
  10. The allotment of college playoff sites is due to the jury-rigged CFB D1 playoff format that not only puts on a playoff but also keeps the NY6 Bowls in place for no discerniable reason other than tradition. ACC and B12 Conference Champs should not receive preferred seeding. Miami will most likely not play an opponent ranked in the Committee's top 25 before the ACC conference champ game. The B12 does not have a team with a Blue Chip roster. Changes that can and should happen in 2026/27. IMO, play all games before the 'College Super Bowl' at higher ranked teams stadia. Bad weather? Delaying the KC at Buffalo game by 1 day last season was no big deal. Fans of the top teams should be rewarded with home games and not forced to pay jacked up airfare and hotel prices. Based on performance since the BCS will many games be played in the SE? Yes! But the best teams in the best conference and their fans should end up with more games and UW did defeat Texas in Texas last season. It may be a Tradition Like No Other but I believe Bama fans would have preferred to travel to Ann Arbor last season than Pasadena. Keep the Rose and Sugar Bowl sites for champ games, or for semi-final games. CRACK THE BUCKNUTS!
  11. You call this a 'Report Card?' Get Back to School! USC football report card vs Minnesota shows Josh Henson is flunking TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Another USC loss brings forth more insufficent grades for the Trojans in our latest report card. Offensive line coach Josh Henson is not making the grade.
  12. The U at No. 6? Dear ACC Referees, As you may have heard we are litigating with our two biggest brands, Clemson and Florida State (here in ACC HQ we love the season the Chop 'Till You Drop is experiencing 😁) We cannot afford for our third biggest brand, the you-know-U, to have a bad season. All our jobs, including yours, depend on Cam the Man overcoming Cristobal's coaching and leading us to the Playoff promised land. Indisputable Evidence must always be in favor of the Canes; the only brand not running up our billable hours. Yes, the old-school Canes were Bad Boys, but the 2024 team will never, ever, never commit helmet-to-helmet targeting infractions. These two admonitions apply coast-to-coast, 24/7. When it comes to the Canes, keep those hankies in your pockets. You have no choice but to accept this mission. This letter will self-destruct in 30 seconds. Your Commissioner, Jimmy Xxxxxxxx.
  13. Bueller! Bueller! 😁 Sean Payton makes incredible movie comparison for Bo Nix WWW.SBNATION.COM Broncos head coach Sean Payton might have seen his rookie QB at 31 Flavors last night 'How can I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?'
  14. Ohio State plays at Penn State on 11/2, on the same date Oregon plays at Michigan. To date, B1G teams that have crossed two or more time zones to play a conference game are 1-7. The exception is Indiana's win in the Rose Bowl. The SEC is the only P4 conference not exposed to two-plus time zone travel. It will be interesting to see the 2X road teams' collective records at the season's end and how it might affect future travel. West Coast teams if still PO alive will have to 2X travel to 5 of the 7 PO game locations plus likely 2X travel to 1st round games. With the SEC having 9 out of 16 teams ranked, some travel to the SE is close to a certainty. You don't see this in the NFL, NAIA, and NCAA football D2 and D3 playoffs.
  15. Heading into Week 7, B1G teams that have traveled two time zones or more for conference games are 1-7 including 0-2 USC. Will this be the case for the Buckeyes traveling three time zones?😁 Ohio State's only road trip to date has been to E. Lansing, MI. to play and destroy Sparty. The one winner to date is the leader in the B1G clubhouse at 6-0/ 2-0. The Hoosiers with a blowout win over the Bruins in LA. and its best season start since 1967.
  16. A Take on the Battle of the Os. Week 7 college football first look: Ohio State-Oregon leads dream Oct. 12 schedule WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM Oregon-Ohio State and Penn State-USC are just two of many games that will be highly anticipated. To date, teams that travel two or more time zones for a B1G conference game are 1-7.
  17. Tom Collins are cheaper at home and make watching polled Rams from Fort Collins play ball somewhat tolerable. Who, other than Tom who is passed out on the floor, will ever forget the classic CW game coverage provided by, Er, Hmmm, and Nod? Johnny C, it's Teresa and her JVs. 😁 Not Tony and the Top 2s. Have a really nice day.
  18. noDuckknewby - In Boise, it will be the Blue Turf instead of the Blue Plate Special. 😁
  19. Naw, too large a COL increase in LA over Oxford (Miss. Not England.)
  20. We're AP No. 3 with No. 2 Ohio State coming to town. WOW! NCAA College Football Rankings: AP Top 25 Football Poll APNEWS.COM The official page for the AP Top 25 college football poll, a tradition since 1936. Keep up to date and view the latest ranking updates each week.
  21. Will the D be ready for O-H-I-O? Oregon Ducks' key defensive stars proving they're ready to make a deep College Football Playoff run WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Early in the season, Oregon wasn't quite living up to the hype that they were garnering in the summer. Starting the season as the No. 3 team in the AP Poll, the expectations were that this team was...
  22. Danno Lives in the Trojans Hearts and Minds. And It Feels So Good. Lincoln Riley hot seat talk is ridiculous, but USC is playing catch-up TROJANSWIRE.USATODAY.COM It is ridiculous to think Lincoln Riley should be fired, but it is obvious that he wasted a whole year at USC and is paying the price for his 2023 mistakes. Traveler has gone from a Dark Horse to a Show Pony that looks good before the race starts and that's it. Yes, Riley waited too long to jettison Grinch, but this would have had SC recruiting as well as Danno and Friends. Right? SC overpaid this guy who wanted nothing to do with the SEC. Riley defeated LSU in LV and sprung a few leaks in Row The Boat Land. Be prepared. After playing like zombies in the 1st half, SC rallied for the W versus Wisconsin. Post game several players said: 'We didn't think they'd be that good.' This just in, you went 7-5 last season. Prepare for Everyone to be Good! SC will make the same mistake with Riley that Riley made with Grinch. Riley is a heck of an OC; That's All Folks. This weekend: Half-Priced Northwest 2-0; Solid Gold LA 0-2.
  23. With UNLV's loss. Huh? What's that, UNLV is still in the MW, my bad. I believe Boise State is the current (and future) Pac-Whatever leader in the Pac-Land clubhouse, along with two BBall buddies that don't play Footie. The Pac Brain Trust folk are awaiting (it's a very small room) word from Sac of Suds State, Incoherent Word, I-Da-Ho State, and Cal (Bears received its invite early this morning) to see if these invitees will Pac it in without knowing if there is Gold or Gould in their future. At least the Beavs invited one team it could beat; in OT. 😂
  24. Father, we'll SEC? (Sorry, Charles 😁) What do I know: "No Way GameDay will be in Eugene Saturday." Good call, JJ.
  25. Miami was MIA most of the night before a heck of a comeback. Back-to-back close calls for the Canes. ReCal that the Bears lost vs FSU. Left for Miami - Bye At Louisville - With its 2nd loss yesterday, home vs SMU, Louis will drop out of the AP Poll Vs. - Didn't you used to be FSU? Duke - lost to Georgia Tech (GT) yesterday At Georgia Tech - This could be tough but I doubt GT will be ranked. Wake Forest. At Syracuse. Miami will play 12 regular-season games against no ranked teams before the ACC Champ game in Charlotte. The Canes will likely match up with Clemson. One of the two will have a 1st round-bye. A Georgia team that thumped Clemson could be seeded behind Clemson or Miami. The ACC is a joke and these con men play 8 regular-season games.
