  1. I represented lenders in my career so yes, I did practice BK law which goes with the territory. Sanders filed BK because he has a multi-million dollar civil judgment against him. Unlike government liens for the payment of back taxes, civil judgments can be reduced and eliminated in BK court as part of a debtor's plan for debt relief. The Constitution specifically allows for debtors to file BK. Why? Many of the Founders and their families before and after emigration faced the ignominy of being sent to Debtors Prison. Future earnings are routinely eliminated from the payment of past debts. It's a matter of public record so I can disclose that when Wayne Newton filed BK, a case I worked on, his future earnings were not available to cover our judgment. The money OJ owed to the Goldmans and Nicole Simpson's family awarded in their wrongful death suit, $33.5M, was paid in part from the sale of Simpson's Heisman Trophy, $230K, but his future earnings and accumulation of assets were exempt from judgment. I expect the same will happen with the Sanders case. Polonius's advice to his son, Laertes, in Hamlet: 'Neither a borrower nor a lender be,' is true today in part but not in whole.
  2. He doesn't have 2 Buffalo nickels to rub together? Being Deion's progeny does not get you off the hook when you commit Assault and Battery. Does Deion have a receipt for the BK filing? I think there are probably better ways to Get Your Clicks, no?
  3. 2024 Chaotic CFB scenarios. 2024 Chaos Scenarios, No. 1: What if Ohio State fires Ryan Day? WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM The Ohio State coach getting canned at season's end would change plenty of programs for the rest of the decade. 2024 Chaos Scenarios, No. 2: The chaotic teams that could win a national title WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM Ole Miss or Clemson winning a national championship? Now, that would cause some chaos in college football. A D in LA? 2024 Chaos Scenarios, No. 3: What if Lincoln Riley actually has a defense? WWW.SATURDAYDOWNSOUTH.COM What if the USC coach made the right hire on that all-important side of the ball? Caution: These numbers are D-isgusting!
  4. He'll always be #1 in the hearts of Ducks fans. Commanders' Marcus Mariota explains history-making decision WWW.YARDBARKER.COM Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota will make history this season.
  5. Your bottom line says what you are. (Thank you, Bill Parcells.) The reporting of 2023 Power 5 Conference revenues by Jon Wilner in his recent Mailbag (on a paysite I cannot access.) The numbers reflect what we fans saw from a mile away for over a decade, grossly negligent management of The Conference of Champions. Grossly negligent bordering on criminal with the fans unlike shareholders of public companies having no ability to dump the fools in charge who in turn hired fools to manage the conference. The management cost of the Pac-12 and its wholly-owned network was five times that of other P5 conferences. And with the 'Pig-2' settlement and the Comcast overpayment refund, the fools in charge continue to hose over Pac-10 fans from the grave. No attempt whatsoever to go after Larry Scott for gross mismanagement including but not limited to the Comcast debacle. Let's give Larry a going-away bonus instead. But this was an 'Exclusive Club,' right? Anyone with business and common sense was excluded. Pac-12 - Revenue - $603.8M. Distributed - $403.6M - 66.7% ACC - Revenue -$707M - Distributed $649.3M - 91.8% B12 - Revenue - $510.7M - Distributed -$442M - 86.5% SEC - Revenue - $852.6M - Distributed - $718.2M - 84.2% Big Ten - Revenue - $880M - Distributed - $844M - 95.9% Anyone who believes that Puddles was wrong to fly this coop is welcome to a free CW Network membership.
  6. Thanks, Oregon Reigns for the article. SP+ 2024 preseason SEC rankings. Unsurprisingly, the SEC is deeper and higher rated top to bottom than the B1G. Makes sense based on the SEC's recruiting and portal-picking rankings. Oklahoma comes in 8th in the SEC and 15 nationally. How would you like to play this cruel and unusual schedule: Dallas: Red River Rivalry vs Texas. Home Games: Tennessee and Alabama. Road Games: Auburn; Ole Miss; Missouri; and LSU. And do the same in 2025 with only the Home and Road venues changing. Texas A&M Football ranked in the Top 15 according to ESPN’s SP+ AGGIESWIRE.USATODAY.COM Texas A&M’s offseason success has led to rising in the newest ESPN SP+ rankings
  7. ESecPN weighs in. NCAA settlement a historic day for paying college athletes. What comes next? - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM A landmark settlement will provide billions in pay to college athletes. But because this is college sports, nothing will be easy.
  8. The B1G and the SEC win again. How historic House v. NCAA settlement will impact college athletics on and off the field for years to come - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM The historic legal case will transform every aspect of college sports as we know it currently
  9. More $ coverage. Puddles is flying high. Big Ten remains Power Five revenue leader with $880 million haul for 2023 fiscal year, per report - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM For the second year in a row, the Big Ten generated more revenue than its power conference counterparts
  10. Stewart Mandel is one of the best and most impactful college sports journalists. As Stewart so advises, every college sports fan needs to take a deep breath. The House settlement will not incent college sports fans to tune out. In 2021 when the NCAA, at the point of a gun, allowed college athletes to market their Name, Image, and Likeness, viewership of college sports did not drop off. Instead, viewership of money-making football and basketball increased as did viewership of Women's sports. College athletes earning their market value did not destroy fan interest. Mandel: What college sports' pay-for-play era will mean — and won't mean WWW.NYTIMES.COM A day few in college sports would have deemed imaginable even three years ago, much less 30, has (almost) arrived. But we'll keep watching. This article has been posted on another thread but in light of the changes coming from the House settlement, this NY Times article IMO deserves a thread of its own. Puddles will continue to fly high. The viewership after the B1G move will be B1Gger than before.
  11. A reasonable post-House settlement from Stewart Mandel. Mandel: What college sports' pay-for-play era will mean — and won't mean WWW.NYTIMES.COM A day few in college sports would have deemed imaginable even three years ago, much less 30, has (almost) arrived. But we'll keep watching.
  12. Utah at UCF is Fox Friday No. 1? I demure. 11 Friday night Fox regular season CFB games, ranked WWW.SBNATION.COM #FoxAfterDark: 11 primetime CFB games to watch on Friday night
  13. This article says 2016 but I think that 2021 is accurate. NCAA agrees to settlement; universities to pay players WWW.SBNATION.COM Revenue sharing will more than likely begin in 2025
  14. The 12-team playoff has these coaches on a hotter seat. Lane Kiffin, James Franklin among college football coaches facing new expectations in expanded CFP era - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Programs that have been frequent New Year's Six participants are now expected to make the expanded field Looking at you Lincoln Riley and the 'Mark Richt' of the B1G, James Franklin.
  15. B1G Coaches weigh in. What do Big Ten coaches think is next after House v. NCAA settlement? WWW.NYTIMES.COM What's next for the Big Ten and college sports after the House v. NCAA settlement? The conference's coaches discusss.
  16. 'How much for a side of ribs?' - Chris Rock 'Five dollars.' - Jimmy Brown 'How many ribs do I get?' - Rock 'Ten.' - Brown 'Good, I got 50 cents, give me one rib.' - Rock Sorry, DanL. I don't think the settlement will provide enough for you to buy 1 rib. 😍 The settlement covers 2021 forward.
  17. SP+ has Oregon ranked No. 3, 2nd in the B1G behind No. 2 Ohio State. Purdue is ranked 72nd, and 15th in the B1G. As Charles notes above, Michigan State on Friday before the Ohio State game and Purdue on a short week is a good trade-off. Friday night games on Fox, CBS, and NBC are likely to draw B1G viewing audiences. The B1G Friday night games will likely open the coverage on Fox's Big Noon preview show and also be covered by ESPN's College Gameday.
  18. Lots of details are still to be worked out regarding Title IX, the effect on G5 athletic departments that gross $40M or less every season, roster reductions for football, the hit to nonrevenue sports, will athletes receiving payments be 'employees,' if the athletes are employees will a union be formed to resolve such matters as unrestricted transfers and what will college sports 'management consist of, and whether Congress will provide relief from future antitrust and other litigation. Hats off to the Power 2 conferences and NCAA president Charlie Baker, for leading the way toward the settlement of House and two other attendant antitrust suits that could have bankrupted the NCAA.
  19. College athletes on brink of getting $2.8 billion, revenue-sharing model in House v. NCAA settlement - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Despite the landmark settlement nearing, details surrounding roster sizes and Title IX remain unanswered Some of the settlement funds will come from a reduction in CBB and other postseason tournament revenue. Looking at you, P1G-2.
  20. What, pray tell, does Molly do for a living? However she makes her money, I wonder how many future bets she has made on these off-the-ceiling picks? My guess? Nada. Think Molly will be back on December 3. 2024 to publically account for these picks? Have you ever seen Mel Kiper give himself a grade for his mock draft compared to how the draft came down? But Mel is quick to assign draft grades to the folks doing the picking. Often wrong but never in doubt. But THIS 'stuff' gets clicks. Thanks, Steven A. for the perfect headline for this post. Good Golly, Miss Molly has a broken crystal ball.
  21. NJ Duck et al. This is just the Fox schedule. Expect more Friday night and late games when CBS and NBC/Peacock announce their broadcast schedules.
  22. If you want the money you have to pay the dues. It was understood by all 4 Pac newbies that the Left Coast was likely to be saddled with several+ Friday night games and late kickoffs on Saturday. For example, the Rutgers at SC game kicks off at 11 PM Eastern. Cannot alter geography. This is true of the NFL as well as college football. However, no matter when the games are played they will be watched and reported pre and post-game by a viable conference network, Fox, CBS, and NBC. Michigan State is a 'look ahead' beware game and at Purdue is a trap game. Perhaps purposely balanced out to give Oregon a leg up in one case, and the opposite in the other case. It could be far worse, Oregon could be playing B12 conference games on Friday nights and being covered as a 'minor league' team behind the SEC on ESPN and behind the B1G on Fox. I do understand and share your pain. But cheer up, living on the Right Coast means that many the sporting event starts far too late.
  23. Some more broadcast news. ESPN is sublicensing select playoff games to TNT. College Football Playoff to feature select games on TNT Sports in sublicense deal with ESPN through 2028 - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM Turner was the first cable network to broadcast college football in 1982 This news 'excites' Bill Hancock. I guess Billy Boy is easily excited.😍
