With 81% of the starting production back including experienced QB Cade Klubnick, Clemson is favored to win the ACC title in 2025, and some 'experts' predict that LSU will win the SEC. Like the Texas vs Ohio State opener, a loss in the opener will not destroy Clemson's or LSU's Playoff opportunity but will leave a season-long lasting impression on the Playoff Committee. Charles, Spot On! As I posted above, if Danno had a role in any of this 'stuff' it was tipping off his friend Josh Heupel and nothing more. Nico was average last season with one of the easier SEC schedules. I believe he failed his 'Show Me More Money,' tryout vs. Ohio State. 😁I think he'd be hard-pressed to win the backup QB job with OBD. I don't see Division Street throwing millions of dollars at this kid or a big chunk of House Settlement money being allocated to Nico. Nico leaving Tennessee for more money when he was making millions in Knoxville is not a good look. The type of behavior that will undoubtedly turn some CFB fans off.

It has been reported that Dan tipped off the Tennessee coach, Heupel, that Nico's representatives were shopping him. The article on Fansided noted that Dan wasn't interested in Nico and speculated that he alerted Heupel so Nico wouldn't go to USC or Ohio State. Dan may have tipped off Heupel as a courtesy but for no other reason. Nico looking for 'market value,' has left the program. Another article had him looking at SC, Ohio State, and three SEC schools. Ohio State has a bevy of young QBs. SC has 5-star Husan Longstreet who flipped from A+M. UGA, Bama, and Ole Miss were also mentioned as landing spots. However, the SEC continues to restrict Spring portal intraconference transfers by not allowing immediate eligibility. This is the first but not the last of college players with NIL deals looking to improve their deal(s) by threatening to walk. Without transfer restrictions in the NFL, we'd see the same thing in the pros and even with restrictions NFL players occasionally hold out of practice. If the House Settlement is approved, players will receive payments directly from their university. I imagine contracts will prohibit Nico-like behavior but will restrictions hold up in court? The professional leagues have enforceable restraint on movement because the players are members of a union that bargains on their behalf. IMO, the House Settlement is a last gasp by the NCAA to have any control over football. The settlement may slow down but it will not stop an NFL-Lite College Super League with bargained agreements with the players.

Every team with a Blue Chip Roster is being scouted by player agents 24/7. Seeing players perform in a Spring game will not be the deciding factor on which players get poached. Ohio State and Alabama with three players each vying for the starting QB spot will likely lose at least one QB to the portal, open from 4/15 through 4/25, even though coaches say competition for the starting spot will continue to the opening game. It's interesting that OBD's Spring game will be played on 4/26, one day after the portal closes, but this is not Machiavellian, the 26th falls on a Saturday. (I think? But with Danno in charge? 🤔) Novo is pressing Dante for the starting spot. Novo and his representatives have to be hearing from the poachers. Among other teams, Florida QB DJ Lagway's shoulder is hurt and he also has a lower-body injury, he may have to have shoulder surgery.
