  1. Shough didn't defeat both Oregon and Alabama his freshman season as did Bo Nix. As a true frosh Nix went 9-4 in the SEC. Nix has 3 games under his belt vs Georgia. Lanning has plenty of familiarity with Nix and apparently likes what he has seen. We'll see how it works out but Nix has 2 seasons of eligibility left. Fentress comparing Nix to Brown? Nix faced far better competition in the SEC than Brown did in the ACC and unlike Brown, he has started and won more than 1 game vs a top 25 ranked opponent. Do not sell this guy and his big game experience short. Nothing he will see on the field in the Pac-12 will come close to the athletes he has played against for 3 seasons in the SEC. Nothing he will hear from the fans at conference away games will come close to the stadiums where he has played in the SEC He's the only guy on the roster who has played Georgia. Not once but thrice. IMO, he is a better pick up than Gabriel at UCLA and Penix at UW.
  2. Nix has 2 years of eligibility left. He could start in 2022 and 2023. Recall the 2020 season did not count against any player's eligibility. In 2020 Nix started 10 games, all against SEC competition. At that time he was playing for Gus Malzahn. Nix held onto the job in 2021 competing against a highly ranked frosh QB.
  3. Nix was having a very good season at Auburn under Harsin before he was hurt. He was having his best season and his completion numbers were way up. He has played big time ball against the best schools in the SEC. UGA is on Auburn's schedule every season. He is far more athletic than Brown. I'm happy to see this. Not one of the younger QBs could beat out journeyman Brown. Dillingham knows him. Dillingham Has watched film, I'm certain, of the 3 young QBs in the room. If nothing else, if a youngster steps up this is great insurance and having used the one free transfer Nix will not be moving on.
  4. Lions and Tiger and Bears, oh my!
  5. Great stuff. I honestly wonder how Mullens stays employed. Especially when he went after both the UGA and A+M AD jobs. The bowl game 'strategy?' How hard are players going to put out for a coach that they know is gone after the bowl game? 3 Stooges is perfect. Mullens should be there as the 4th stooge.
  6. Thanks Charles. Are the new hires able to immediately start recruiting and working the portal for the Ducks?
  7. The new COVID derivative is wrecking havoc with CFB basketball games being cancelled, basketball team practices being cancelled and has altered the schedule of a number of NFL games. San Diego State played Utah State for the MW title with many the SDS player being unable to play due to COVID. I wonder if any big bowl games will be cancelled or played in empty stadiums? Even more empty than the stands have been for these JV bowl games. Is the Pac-12 COVID testing protocol still in place?
  8. With the way Omicron is spreading one wonders if bowls will be canceled or played with no fans in the stands?
  9. Utah State made the Beavs OL look like Swiss cheese. MW now 2-0 in its bowls. Big game this week when San Diego State plays UTSA. UT ST won the title game but SDS had a lot of guys out for testing positive for COVID.
  10. I do wish Lanning was here full time as of now. You cannot serve two masters. Lanning has done a very good job at UGA but the guy truly in charge of the D is Kirby Smart who was Saban's DC at Bama before returning to his alma mater as HC. Is anyone paying attention to the portal? How many hours can Lanning put into getting more recruits signed on in February? And Mullens? How in the heck can you allow a guy who is probably off to Miami and refuses to re-commit to Oregon, to serve as the HC for the bowl game? THIS = amateur hour.
  11. That's gross dollars correct? Not what Oregon after expenses will net, right?
  12. SPOT ON! Is Mullens really THIS clueless? Does either team want to play this game? The Playoff has created a system where 3 postseason games matter. BTW, Burmeister is in the portal. He wanted to play in the bowl game and Va Tech said: 'NO!'
  13. Just another loss to a Mountain West team. Nothing to see here, move right along.
  14. The Beavs? Is the Mountain West better than the Pac top to bottom? Fresno won its game today.
  15. Saturday Down South, the site that covers the SEC in more detail than any other stated that UGA would not beat Bama if Daniels was not the QB. If Smart does not start Daniels vs Michigan I think it will show that Smart can get UGA to the precipice but not to a championship win.
  16. Probably more the former than the later. But the result does perhaps prove that the BYU coach should not be the Oregon coach?
  17. More $ with the SEC in, no doubt. But stop the nonsense that G5 teams other than Cincy this season have a chance at a PO spot and how much $ does the G5 being involved bring to the table? Go with The Run For The Roses as hypothesized and you have No. 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 in the 'playoff.' THIS would bring in plenty of bank without it Just Meaning More.
  18. Honestly, great post. But cut loose or cut lose? And it's 6 years in CFB for AB.
  19. ? Final 4 teams get $6M. Where does this number come from? Maybe the game drops this amount on San Antonio but on Oregon?
  20. Like the putative NCAA 16 team playoff, I am ceiling walking here. I have used the Committee's ultimate rankings and added the 'new B12' into The Alliance and into the equation. This format satisfies the ACC's desire to have no more than 8 teams in the run for a title. 8. Pitt - ACC at 1 Michigan - B1G - FOX 5. Baylor - AL at 4 Ohio State - AL - TNT 7 Utah - Pac-12 at 2 Cincinnati- B12 - CBS 6. Oklahoma State - AL at 3. Notre Dame - AL - NBC Semifinals - Atlanta and Las Vegas. Champ Game - Rose Bowl 5PM eastern on January 1st. As much money as having the SEC in the mix? No. But still a significant amount of $ and kiss Disney/ESPN good-bye.
  21. Today vs App State in the Whatever Bowl, W KY QB Zappe eclipsed Joe Burrow's record. Burrow threw for 60 TDs in one season. Zappe has 62 and counting going into the 4th quarter. That's not for his career, that's 62 in one season! A season W KY started off at 1-4. I know it's D optional but it is FUN to see a great passing attack on display and App State also put up many the point in a very entertaining game.
  22. He isn't coming anywhere near the Alamo Bowl is he? If so, how out of it can Mullens be?
  23. Think you and a tip of a Mai Tai to you, Sir.
  24. Fisch did a great job recruiting to AZ this season. But once again, the top 5 guys from AZ? None will be balling in the Pac-12.
  25. Good take Charles, thanks. Cristobal is gone. 62-60 IS Mario Cristobal. A recruiting champ, he just flipped the #1 TE in this class from Alabama to Miami, and a coaching chump. AB is a gutty kid and he should be admired for being a competitor. Fighting back from 2 injuries to get back on the field is impressive. But AB has started against and defeated 1 top 25 ranked team in 6 seasons of CFB. IMO, AB does not have the talent to beat Oklahoma. How can Moorhead open it up with a guy at QB who has been a 50% or worse passer his entire career and cannot accurately throw a deep ball? Oklahoma is simply going to do what Utah did. Pack the LOS and make a relatively immobile AB win throwing the ball. Start Ty or Butterfield if he is the better of the two, against Oklahoma and Bob Stoops and you at least have some big game starting experience for an Oregon QB before teeing it up vs Georgia next season. You will be starting a guy that Oklahoma has not seen on tape and has not game planned against. A guy who has a prayer of throwing an accurate deep ball. I don't think Brown is owed any sense of loyalty. Brown is a CFL prospect at best who should thank Oregon for giving him the opportunity to start. As a 6th year guy he should be mature enough to understand why a younger guy needs to get some big game experience. I don't think Huard's flame out in the Apple Cup should have any bearing on the starting QB for Oregon. After all, Oklahoma QB Caleb Williams is a true freshman who took over from a guy who was the preseason favorite to win the Heisman. A 1st time starter at QB, Bryce Young, just won the Heisman trophy. Another 1st time starter, Ohio State's Stroud was invited to the Heisman award ceremony. I appreciate Moorhead sticking around. But Anthony Brown, unless the OL paves the way for the run game like it did in Columbus, is not taking down Oklahoma led by a phenom QB in Williams. And after the 'onside kick' game in Autzen, Bob Stoops, though coming out of retirement for the Alamo Bowl, will be up for this game and IMO, have the Sooners up for this game. Guys considering signing with the Ducks in February or coming to Eugene via the portal will be watching this game.
