Oregon Moves Up in Penultimate College Football Playoff Rankings
DanLduck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Assume the following: Michigan wins. FSU wins. Oregon wins. Texas wins. Alabama wins. The final poll is: #1 Michigan #2 FSU #3 Oregon #4 Alabama Reason, Texas beat #18 OSU Alabama beat #1 UGA Texas gets the Fiesta. Big 12 weak conference. -
Official College Football Playoff Rankings No. 5

I also think if Alabama wins they move to #4. So, Mich wins, they're #1. FSU wins they're #2 Oregon wins they're #3. Texas wins and 'Bama wins, Texas gets the Fiesta. Reason, UA beat #1 UGA, Texas beat #18 OSU. -

This basically guarantees the Ducks make the playoff with a win over the hated Huskies. Awesome. OK. Take care of business Ducks. Win in Friday!! Woo hoo! Scooo Ducks!! -
Interesting stat: 2023 was lowest forced turnover year by half, compared to 2010 and 2012. Yet our points per game are very close to those 2 years. Our high point total for those 2 years was due in part to high # of turnovers leading to short fields. But this year we still scored a high average per game with half the # of turnovers. Suggests to me a very efficient offense. Well done Will Stein Well done Bo Nix. Well done Ducks!!

Oregon, Texas, Alabama all won. Only Oregon beat a ranked team. Alabama needed a lucky bounce. Nothing changes the order of those 3 from the past week. So going into championship week, Oregon is still highest ranked 1 loss team. Oregon beats UW, a top 4 ranked team, they're in. Undefeated Michigan is in. Winner of SEC is in. Oregon will be in. Last place a toss up between undefeated FSU from the weak ACC or 1 loss Texas from weak Big12. Only way this changes is if chaos reigns supreme and several underdogs win championship. IMHO.

I don't think coach Lanning's loyalty is such he would jeopardize a win for any one person. My guess is they don't have a good enough replacement for Cam. So, I think our best bet as fans is to send Mr Lewis positive vibes in any way, shape or form we can. He is what we got, so someone send him your lucky rabbits foot.

GameDay Thread for Civil War Game: Join Us!

Teams slammed D'anthony Thomas all the time, no penalty. Pac-12 refs must resent Oregon for the demise of the Pac too. -

Those beavus helmets! -
I agree. My prediction was 45 - 17. It's a matter of who wants it more, and which team is better prepared. Oregon has played to its standard pretty much every game. The guys look prepared and ready every week. I see no reason for that to change tonight. I'm hoping for an onslaught to make last year's debacle a distant memory. Let's send our seniors out victorious.

Funny How These Seasons Turn Out...

He isn't going to make 10M per year in the big. He won't leave till they fire him. -
I was there! It was wonderful !!

My favorite was 2010 at Reser. It is the only Civil War I have attended in person. My wife and I returned from our Hawaii vacation that day, and just made it in time for the start of the game. Very first play for OSU resulted in a sack by Casey Mathews. A nice start. We won 37 - 10 and went to the first BCS championship game against Auburn. After the game, we stood at center field and took a selfie standing on the Beaver. All in all, a great memory.

Juicy Quotes from the ESPN Crew Towards Oregon...Whew!

"If Oregon wins the next two games...they're in the playoffs " That's the quote I like the most. And the one I most agree with! -
Official College Football Playoff Rankings No. 4

UW at #4 is perfect. Now we beat #16 OSU. Then hammer #4 UW in the Pac-12 championship. That's a guarantee invite to playoff. Scoo Ducks!! -
The Pac-2 is Ruse, a Sham That Makes NO SENSE
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The NCAA apparently has ok'd the "Pac-02" until 2025 to allow time to rebuild the Pac-? At best, the hope is to bring in select MWC teams, maybe an AAC team or 2 and continue as a power 5 conference. This won't fool anyone, the Pac will be only be a glorified G5 conference and will not get full respect from playoff committee in the future. It will be surprising if other conferences allow a Pac-? winner to get automatic bid in future playoff negotiations. The hope for OSU is to keep power 5 status. My guess is they will, but in name only. TV contracts won't reflect huge amounts nor will other conferences treat them any better then they do for CUSA. But we will see. At least the civil war might continue as a Sept game. -
They will blend in MWC teams, maybe an ACC team and keep the 'Pac' moniker. But they will just be a glorified G5 conference. They won't get equal voting from playoff committee. And no matter what, best recruits won't head to G5 conference, no matter what they call it. I'm saddened by the loss of the Pac-12, but whatever teams join up now, it won't be the 'Pac' anything in my book.

Maybe a case can be made for Oregon destroying the competition. Every team Oregon plays collapses for the duration of season. Even UW has played more poorly since that fateful Oct night. Oregon isn't just winning. They are destroying teams. Like for real! So, they should remain higher ranked than AL or UT.

AP & Coaches Coaches Polls: Week 13

AP has UW at #4. That's where they should be Tues nite. Now we need to beat little brother in our "super bowl" and clobber those dawgs in Vegas. Sco Ducks!!! -
Pretty Impressed: ASU GamePlan so Crafty...
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Bo played opening series if 2nd half. That's all. He threw a td pass (#7) to TE Ferguson, but refs called a mysterious p/I penalty. Ty T played rest of game. -
Choice: 1. If you want Ducks to have chance to make football playoffs, Huskies have to win. 2. If a Pac-12 championship is good enough for you, then it doesn't matter, Beavs can win 3. Remember that many OSU fans are very derogatory to us Ducks...karma says, they gotta lose.

Efficiency. How do you spell it? Oregon Ducks offense led by Bo! -
Substance, not style or flash is something taught/coached from the top. At the same time, that 'flash" attitude is also taught or at least tolerated from the top down. The thing with Deion, he had the substance as a player. A 2 sport pro and an NFL lockdown corner, great stuff. But football really is a team sport. Having a star qb and receiver doesn't get it done at the D1 level. He hasn't won anything yet. Coach Riley has had success, but not at the highest level. His record against ranked teams is very poor. But some people measure success by the size of paychecks, so I guess in that regards, both programs are doing well. Our coach actually knows what winning a Natty feels like, and what it takes. I like the substance.
