Something Funny to Ponder: Prime at USC?
Haywarduck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
All great ideas for sc and they will undoubtedly hire another real whiner once the shine comes of the turd Riley truly is. As for Sanders he is destined to be the next Cleveland Browns head coach. Although Stefanski is a great coach he will leave soon for a better franchise. I mean NFL Coach of the Year, and Cleveland Browns Franchise just doesn't go together for very long. Sanders will join the long line of failed coaches in Cleveland. Everyone knows Sanders next stop is the NFL. He said he was staying at Jackson State, now love's his cowboy hat and Colorado, but he hasn't quite reached his pinnacle of incompetence quite yet, the NFL calls soon. In the end Sanders will end up as an NFL announcer once again. He can talk all he wants, and never have to worry about whether he is right, wrong, or be held accountable. -
So much bad news out there, nice to see the right thing being done, helping out a sad situation. I'll be cheering the Vikings on, and am sure Kyhree will be too. Also forever grateful for what he brought to the Oregon Program! Vikings to honor Khyree Jackson with helmet decals and pay full signing bonus to his family WWW.YAHOO.COM The Minnesota Vikings will honor Khyree Jackson with helmet decals this season. Coaches will wear matching pins. The rookie was killed in an automobile crash in early July.

'Admit It, Oregon is BUYING Recruits'
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
These student athletes aren't being bought, they are being paid for their work and value they add to the program. Programs who can figure out who adds the most value for the dollar will win in the end. Those who are yelling Oregon is all Nike, buying athletes are just getting distracted, and falling further behind. We live in a new era, and when it is new Oregon does well. -
Miami in the playoffs ten times, really. They barely have a winning record over the last 5 years, and are on their way to not having won a bowl game in 10 years. This seems to be recruiting numbers based, not based on reality. I suppose that is all we are getting right now so this projection is about right. I'll put $10k on the under for Miami, I need a little more in my retirement account.

Wowsa: Fisch Begging for NIL Donations in Seattle...
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Talk about wealth, OSU alumni Jensen Huang net worth went north of $100 billion. He gave TO(the other) osu $200 million for a super computer lab, but the football program nada. Even if Huang gave OSU some big money, it is a given they would blow that too. The secret sauce with Oregon is they now how to run a sports program, programs. No other school has the complete package of facilities, coaches, support systems to win at a high level. What we read about is Oregon just has the money. That isn't the secret, but we will just let other universities think that is all there is to it, makes complete sense, yeah...... -
The other fact is most social media is full of bots. Bots being computer generated communication. Charles weeds these out and you are communicating with real people. Ever wonder why people get all jacked up about things on the internet? There are lots of reasons but one of the main ones is the bots out there are feeding you posts to get you riled up. This along with Algorithms to keep info coming at you which you have reacted to in the past. The Green Refuge where you make you own choices based on your interests, and communicate with real people, and few if any dawgs or rodents!
-
You're not Mr. Anal, hypersensitive, thin skinned, or irritable just the King of the forum. Your standard is something we all benefit from. Saying you have created a green refuge doesn't do it justice. You have created something unique you should be proud of, and we should all be grateful for. I would say too often we aren't willing to appreciate greatness because we haven't been part of creating that. It isn't easy doing and to continue doing what you do. My name would be Mr Stable, because this sight is stable unlike most if not all content on the internet. We are all lucky and should never forget that. We should all remember that more often and never let Charles feel like he is Mr. Anal, because he just cares more than most, works harder at than most, and we all gain if we are so lucky he keeps doing this.

Oregon Ducks Football: New Wide Receiver U?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great article and I have always wondered why we didn't develop, recruit at a higher level with the offense and qb production we have had over the years. Don't get me wrong, I love all the wideouts we have had, but they weren't next level talents. Next level talents can make a qb, muck like Johnny football wasn't that great, but his receivers made it look that way. A receiver who can go up and win the 50/50 ball 90% of the time makes a qb look Heisman like. My only caution is this is the same thinking I had back when Flowe and Sewell were recruited. Were we headed to be LB U? They didn't pan out, although are defense continues to improve under Lanning. The Oregon receiver bench is like looking at a very impressive menu at a restaurant. The question is can menu live up to the hype, I hope so as I can't wait for that first bite! -

Oregon's Recruiting Success: "...the Quiet Part Out Loud."
Haywarduck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Another note is the NFL, NBA, MLB and most other professional leagues have salary caps. The reason, all these owners know they have no discipline when it come to competing. Left to themselves they would pay way too much for the chance to win it all, beat the other wealthy owners. It may come to a point where the NCAA, or the alumni, NIL groups agree to NIL caps. Until then we will see the AT&M's spending like drunken sailors and ending up in the ditch, along with their student athletes. That may also put programs into different conferences based on spending. The BIG, SEC, ACC, Big12 have a cap at X, other conferences tier down. Who knows how it will all play out, but I like how Oregon is doing it for now, and that is all that matters! -
Oregon's Recruiting Success: "...the Quiet Part Out Loud."
Haywarduck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What I like is Oregon's recruiting is pulling in guys for their reasons, not just our reasons. Dakorien said he always wanted to take his own path, be different. We didn't try and convince somebody from Texas who wanted to play football in Texas to come to Oregon. Lanning and his team pull in athletes, but first find out their why. Division St. helps, but we are much more than NIL, and D street is leading the way in how to help athletes use the NIL process. A process has been opened up, and not surprisingly Oregon is leading the way in how to leverage that, innovate with it. -
'The' is already taken, maybe' that?' I kind of like' this,' or it could be just 'A.' Buckeyes could stay tosu, beavs could be aosu, cowboys could just be cosu. Maybe 'that' osu is the beavs, 'this' the cowboys and 'the' for the bucks? They would all be wise to realize the only university that really puts everything on their name being 'the,' Miami, 'the u,' is irrelevant.

Dan Lanning Has West Coasters Shook!
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Reminds me of when Chip was running the hurry up offense and programs complained about how it should be illegal or they should make a rule against it. We now have Oregon making waves with their recruiting and NIL program. If I remember correctly back when this much noise was made, we did pretty well, and the rest of college football played catch up. This time let's put the program across the goal line and get that national title! Great article and ponder point Ryan! -
I love to analyze data and look at statistics, an admitted amateur, but I think you can learn a lot from observing trends in data. One fact when looking at data and statistics is understanding when you have enough data to create and rely on the statistics one is observing. We don't have enough data on Dan Lanning to really have any valid statistics, or understand a trend, IMHO. Right now we are going on feelings and emotions. My feelings with Dan Lanning are all positive. My emotions have been sent to the moon and dropped to the floor. I think we will hit the floor a few more times, but moon is the just the start of how high Dan Lanning will take us. Those are my feelings and emotions. I look forward to putting some more data together as the years pass and seeing some truly astounding statistics. Oh, another feeling, this guy will be the GOAT coach at Oregon and take us to the promised land!

This is the husky men's athletics being pulled along by the women's athletic program. The women have actually won something, while the men just sit there fat and happy about nothing.

I agree, but that is why innovation is often left to the young. We are boxed in by what has been done, the youth can see, and ask why not about something we have never pondered. I suppose I am the age of why do that, don't do that and being way too critical, but I am a bit older.

Cool! Matthew Knight Arena Court Redesign Reveal
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I do hope everyone understands the Tall Firs aren't the new, or something we should get rid of. The Tall Firs are our history and something we should be very proud of. I will agree brown trees just made no sense. -
Just had this favorite poster reframed, after just a few decades. Few things can spark emotions like remembering watching Pre run at Hayward. Anyone else have a favorite or two memorabilia they want to share? I know one guy who has a few he has shared pictures of with his Duck cave, but which are your favorite Charles?

Agree with Charles and Kamikaze, it is going to take input and output. Kids want to win, but they also want to know they will be drafted. You have to pick the right kids, and develop them. Recruits that get drafted, and transfers who go high in the draft is critical. If we can turn Burch into a 1st rounder it would go a long way to helping our transfer story extend to the defense. The derecruitment process is important for developing elite high school talent. I would say equally important is the renew process with transfers. Oregon needs to become a place where players take that final step within their career. Gonzo and Nix have laid a solid base to that story. I would like to see Dillon, Burch, Holden and Jacobs have breakout seasons. I would also like to see Connerly and Florence show Lanning knows how to pick and develop talent in house. I would also love to see a couple recruits surprise at wide receiver, but hopefully that will happen as time goes on. Bring kids on, develop them, give them opportunities to shine, and win! Agree this could, should be a season to remember. It certainly would be nice if the rest of the country learns to never forget Oregon football.

Got a Father-Son/Daughter Duck Story to Share?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Went to Eugene to see my 4th generation Duck son for breakfast and fathers day visit this morning. Almost broke the streak, but he will finish up next year! Hopefully he can find a nice Duck before leaving and they can make some Ducklings soon. Now that would be the ultimate Fathers day gift!
