  1. I hope I don't have the worst week ever. The worst week ever would turn into one of the worst offseason ever. Right now this is setting up as the best week ever. We get to have revenge on our nemesis, the dawgs. Lanning gets to prove he is the better coach, and is building the superior program. The worst week ever is when the best week ever isn't true. The most nervous ever would be seeing the game come down to the wire and maybe we have to rely on a non-football player to win the game. That is when I would be the most nervous. Right now I am not nervous because I think the Ducks will make it a game where the kicker doesn't matter. They can control that and they know they need to. I hope I am not the most nervous ever, because I may just lose it! Go Ducks!
  2. It is a matchup against coaches, end of story. Deboer got the best of Lanning two years in a row. He owns Lanning until otherwise noted. The question I have is can Lanning beat Deboer? I have no doubt the odds are on our side, but odds don't play, nor coach. The saying it's not about the X's and O's, it's about the Johnny's and Joe's is wrong. It is about the the X's and O's, but mostly about Kalen and Dan that make the difference.
  3. Also there is an argument being made about Texas being superior to Oregon both 11-1, which is interesting too. Texas beat Texas Tech 57-7, and a direct comparison is Oregon beat TT 38-30. The problem with this analysis is Texas was playing at home, Oregon traveled 1,700 miles to play in a hostile environment. We played against their starting qb, higher ratings, they played against the backup qb. Will the voters put Texas ahead of Oregon if they beat Oklahoma State?
  4. I overestimate my dogs abilities all the time. My dog is brilliant and can do no wrong. That delusion stops with my dog! The dawgs up north are worthless. My fear is their dog trainer. A good dog trainer can turn a stupid mutt into an amazing tool. That is what DeBoer has done, but this dog has no manners. The first thing you do with a mutt like this is knee him in the chest when you jumps on you. You have to train it to behave. This mutt is going to jump all over us and it will take repeatedly knocking him on his hind end to gain control. The other problem with this mutt is the never ending noise it will make, bark, bark, bark. What the Ducks need to do is prevent it from the start. This dog will bark because of stimulus. We must never let them get the stimulus, positive yardage, stops of defense, just shut them down early and keep scoring, the noise will stop. Lastly this dawg really isn't trained that well. If Oregon plays its game the dawgs will, well you know, all over the place. Lets just take care of our business early, and do the training DeBoer hasn't yet, teach these dawgs how to lay down! We all remember they know how to lay down, we just need to teach them again, with gusto!
  5. Still love this one, with a little editing, 'I'm trying to remember what they won and I don't remember. Do you remember them winning anything. I don't remember them winning anything. Why would a recruit go there.'
  6. A good coach, and maybe a good head coach, well done beavs!
  7. Our only starting qb who has ever transferred was Tyler Shough, under MariØ. The only qb who underperformed in college relative to his NFL career was Justin, under MariØ. QB play defines MariØ! If that ever changes then maybe MariØ has grown, until we see different outcomes he is the same guy. Not sure Mariø can spell or say humble ;-)! Compare that to Lanning and the difference this year with how much Nix has run. Lanning learned he didn't need to, want to, have Nix run, and elevated Nix to Heisman status.
  8. What separates the good from great is an ability to travel and perform, but it is difficult. This element is under appreciated and seldom discussed thoroughly. I think the schedule and travel differentiation between the SEC and the Pac is also misunderstood. Georgia has had 4 away games where they had to cross one state line, basically get on a bus for away games. The other away game was in state. That would be like Oregon having to travel to Idaho, Washington, Northern California and then Corvalis for their away games. Even these examples don't fully compare the distances out west as compared to the east, and south. Our schedule with 9 conference games is tougher, and our travel is tougher than the SEC. Next year it will be even more difficult, but we are lauding ourselves for playing on front of a larger audience. What we will see are tougher games, and potentially more cannabalism within the BIG because of the travel and 9 conference games. The fact that we eat our own is our own fault. It would be great if we better acknowledged the reasons why, and addressed at least the 9 game schedule. I do agree the refs aren't great, but an elite team should never put the refs into play. I think it is amazing we are recruiting and playing like an elite SEC team. We might even win it all this season, but if we want to continue on this road, we need to schedule like an SEC team too.
  9. I think Tosh is a more talented MariØ, except Tosh is learning the trade of coaching. Mario wasn't a good coordinator, could recruit, manages a team pretty well, and didn't develop, but that was partly because he wasn't a good coordinator. I would argue a coach needs to be a great coordinator, but then again the hiring process is what you are referring to. You might be right, the decision makers are looking at recruiting and management, missing the Lannings, and Deboers, for the flash of the MariØ's. Where is the head coach!
  10. Just WOW, these shows are good, this one priceless!
  11. Most importantly I am sure there is no whining when looking at what DeBoer is doing. While I hate the dawgs, their fanbase and anything purple, I respect DeBoer. I am sure he is realistic, but has a game plan if executed well can get the dawgs a win. It would also take Oregon playing their worst football, but DeBoer is a gamer. He isn't whining, or given up on the game. There may be whining among their fanbase, but there can't be any overconfidence on our part either. I am sure Lanning is putting together a solid game plan, and the players will be ready. The last thing we want to be doing is whining about what could have been!
  12. Michigan State is also a land grant agricultural college. It was the first agricultural college in the country. It is the second best college in Michigan, much like OSU is in Oregon. I would say he made a decent choice in moving up, definitely bet he is making more money. In this day and age his contract will probably set him up for life, and even if he fails, he will now know if his shtick stands up at the next level up. I can respect that! I could see him coming back to the beavs, and they would take him back any day, anyway. Riley led the way with successful beav coaches, leave the safety of corvallis, and then come back with that big ugly tail between your legs.
  13. It is only a matter of time. The decision will be Stein's and what program, money, and the life he wants. The guy who is gone as soon as he finds the right job is Tosh too. The guy can recruit like nobody else, and has proven he can develop, run a pretty nice defense. Same metric will entice Tosh, program, money and the life he wants. At some point we may get a few Morgan Scalley's who stick around, but with a head coach who isn't going anywhere, and is only 37, there won't be guys sitting around thinking they will be taking over the program. I think Lanning coaching tree is going to become long and deep as the years go by. I hope so because that means lots of success!
  14. And with the dawgs are good at understanding our tendencies it will be even harder to score in those positions unless Coach Stein comes up with some effective answers. I like what Gary Bryant brings at receiver, but was also impressed when Holden came in. Holden gives us an extra 30lbs and 4 more inches. Maybe Holden should be part of the bigs package in that zone. The other method is the tush push, and maybe pulling all 340lbs of Steven Jones to shove our RB into the end zone. I do agree doing the same thing that isn't working too well won't work against the dawgs, or anyone going forward, great article!
  15. That would have to be the PAC-10, maybe the PAC-11, sc would never get an invite back, ever!
  16. We brought in Boyle to compete against Lewis, but he is hurt. I imagine they don't want to ruin the freshman, Meadors a 6* kicker?, by putting too much pressure on him just out of high school. I guess it comes down to we have a kicker who is broken and the dawgs have a qb who is broken. I would rather have a kicker who is broken any day. If Meadors does come in for a field goal it is over for Lewis. Looks like Meadors is 4-4 on extra point attempts this year so they have had him out there a bit.
  17. I think the dawgs would still be in fade mode, and we would still be getting stronger as the season progressed. With revisionist history I would take two win against the dawgs instead of just one! I am also ok with the outcome I hope to see as we get through the next few weeks.
  18. We lost the first quarter by 7, it was 7-14. We lost the game by 3, but we must focus on the fact we lost the first quarter, and make sure that doesn't happen again. With Camden as our kicker we must get ahead early and keep the pressure on the dawgs. It will take Bo at his best, along with Bucky again putting up some big numbers. The other element is Oregon needs to limit Penix's passing attack. Continual pressure on the qb, bat down passes, and make Penix know the pocket is collapsing. An early blitz that puts Penix on his back might make a huge difference. Also not allowing the receivers to get behind our defense will be critical. Fortunately I think our defense is up to the task. I would be nice to see Camden kick a short one late, but we can't afford to put Lewis in the position of saving the game, or winning the game late. The defense has to limit scoring, and the offense has to blend a game plan where DeBoer can't figure out our next move. We must win the chess game of game planning, this time. I also hope Deboer doesn't become a target of Texas A&M and that becomes a distraction! His buyout isn't a problem for A&M. With an $8 million AD shortfall the dawgs aren't in position to compete against the bigger programs for DeBoer's services, much like OSU found out. They are supposedly in negotiations, but now they may have to compete against Texas ATM.
  19. With the ability to look back the fact they could do both was astounding. We were in control, or should I say Stein and Nix were in total control of the game. What I want to see is Oregon again controlling the game against the dawgs. We can't let the dawgs hang in there, and I have a feeling the defense is going to put up a game for the ages too. What I love is how Tosh sends the pass rush in and gets pressure. I think this will be incredibly important against the dawgs, and Penix. Penix is going to be hearing footsteps early and often as he drops back.
  20. Many things can go wrong, but all we can do is take care of our business. Oh and Camden needs to take care of his business too! As much as I would love to see the dawgs lose tonight they need to look dominant this time. The dawg fade as the season has progressed looks weak too! Not what they are doing right now. Get your act together dawgs! At least Auburn is giving Alabama a run, and may win. We also need Florida to show the FSU the door!
  21. I was born with a distaste for Corvallis and anything to do with Oregon State. 4 generations of Ducks and never, I mean never has anyone gone to Corvallis. I have no problem going low. At the same time if I was at a poker table and everyone walked away and left the pot in the middle, I would claim it. Now if the legal system rules our way then great. I don't fault the beavs for trying to claim the money, but have little understanding of the legal underpinnings. I would hope the Athletic Departments legal team took care of this at the time of the departure. I also hate all the whining coming from Corvallis, but that has been happening for a long time. If there is a pathetic excuse that hasn't been used by the beavs I don't want to hear it.
  22. He is cracked, but hopefully not broken. Sounds like our back-up kicker is broken for now. Anyone know when Boyle gets off the injury list? Until then I think we suffer from fragile kicker syndrome. That can be terminal, but hopefully will only create non life threatening symptoms. I also think Lanning got Boyle because he wanted an automatic kicker, or at least a choice if Camden did what he is doing. Unfortunately Lanning has to ride this storm out.
  23. The only stat that matters last night goes in the win column. We need one more for a chance to get in, and then two more to win it all. Agree the stats against the dawgs may need to show a beat down to compare against other 1 loss teams. The problem there will be the east coast, SEC, BIG bias, nothing we can do there. We do need a big win against the dawgs to help Bo get the Heisman, and to help push us into the playoffs. We also think the dawgs are a fraud as compared to some other schools. We just have to take care of our business, and let the rest fall into place.
  24. You bring up a huge point in the dawgs use to Pac-12 refs to their advantage. You will see Penix throw short, and call for interference before the play is even over. The Ducks will need to get the inside position and their heads looking back next week. This is how we need to play it against the leg lifters next week! If we do one of the biggest weapons the dawgs have will be neutered.
