Food, the difference between paying too much for average food, and a little more for a really good item isn't much. The answer also isn't too far away. The University of Oregon food services isn't what it was when I went to school. They make a breakfast burrito, along with tacos. Indian food is also made and could be turned into an interesting sandwich. There is also curries and bao buns, all could be make into great stadium food. Autzen stadium should challenge The University of Oregon food services to create an innovative menu which can turn eating at Autzen into a culinary experience. I mean there is a Food Studies major, put those kids to work on something meaningful! Why shouldn't Oregon be know as also have excellent food at Autzen, innovate!, instead of subpar offerings which try and mimic other stadiums.

Oregon Football's Best On-Field Sponsorships
Haywarduck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hope Autzen can stay as clean, sponsor free, as possible. There are few place as beautiful, and all about the sport, as Hayward Field. Maybe I am biased, but all venues should aspire to be as pure to the sport as Hayward Field is. My nickels don't add up to much so I understand the need to raise money, but I hope our Athletic Department does it with class. -
Recruiting: Are You Less "Into It" Than Before?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Without news from the weight room, have any records been broken?, freshman/scout team insight, do we even here about those guys anymore?, even real news from the fall camp, does anyone get to watch that actually reports?, it is hard to really sink your teeth into much about our future Ducks. I still remember hearing about a 3 star safety who was recruited, and signed at 16, and an assistant coach talked about him and said just watch this kid. He went on to redshirt, and then on to multiple super bowls. Before that he was second team All-American, started 51 straight games. I just don't get that kind of inside info, nor does it seem does anyone really. It is just star ratings, and too much disappointment. I do pine for the old days, and the Patrick Chungs! I would say it isn't so much that I am not paying attention, it is there isn't any unique news to ponder and wonder if the rumors about this new RB from Texas ripping up practice are true. Is it true the freshman qb from Sheldon throws the best ball the receivers have ever seen. Those kind of rumors just don't get out. I suppose we do get a depth chart, but that really isn't enough to get me going. The star rating system use to get me going, but the success rate is still iffy. Great question, and what I see on the field is about all I really get excited about. There are few I will be watching, but seems there isn't any real good info out there like there use to be. Back in the day, I tell ya! -
Are We Seeing What Cristobal DREAMED Of?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
MariØ is like that car you sold many years ago you thought was pretty cool. You got some money, and a modern version of what you needed. The guy who bought your car, probably got $200 at the junkyard, or a bill to tow it to the junkyard, like FSU did. Turns out selling that car and moving on to car with airbags, seat belts, air conditioning, automatic transmission, anti-lock brakes, power steering, rear view mirrors, fuel injection and cruise control, was a pretty good idea. Who knew all these amenities would be so nice and useful. We are sitting pretty, and loving it! -
10 Cent Beer Night: What Could POSSIBLY Go Wrong?

Bill Walton was Bill Walton, and that is hard to do in this day and age of copy cat, react to this and that. All I know is we should all try and be ourselves, and relish that opportunity. We should also care less if we piss off a few, or are questioned by many. Just answer to yourself, and be grateful for the opportunity, Bill was!

Ducks Are Losing One of Their Unsung Heros
Haywarduck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And congrats to Dr. Thompson, who is now President Thompson. A well deserved promotion which should bring him right into a nice retirement. Thank you for all you did, much of it invisible, but much appreciated! -
Wide Receiver Evan Stewart Inks a Big NIL Deal with NXTRND
Haywarduck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hope so because if I had that type of money in college I would have done some big things off the field! I have to imagine there will be some downside to this kind of money on todays campuses, hopefully other campuses. -
How the 2024 Oregon Offense Will ROCK
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great analysis and we will ROCK, but maybe paper, or scissors. You raise a great point on looking for patterns and signals while trying to figure out what Stein will call. Much like the game of rock, paper, scissors Stein is playing a game where our patterns are just there to set you up to fail. The explosive plays happen when you think you know, maybe make a sudden bad choice, and the rock goes the other direction. As the summer heats up, the juices for Oregon Football start flowing in earnest. Thanks for feeding the furnace with some awesome fuel. -
RIP Bill Walton - Dead of Cancer at Age 71
Haywarduck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A loss to all, and a life well lived! What else can one aspire to. He also lived his life with enthusiasm and seemed to have no regrets, well done Bill! -
Does this make sense, "Kellen DeBoers record speaks for himself?" First rule of journalism reread what you wrote, so you don't look like a fool. Then she references the PAC-12, again does this make you want to read on? She then says "Lincoln Riley statistically is getting better each year contrary to their record." Wow, I have been looking at the wrong things all along. I hope Riley uses that quote in the locker room after all his losses next year. Then Prime got his practice year, what! Almost as good as Primes famous quote, 'we don't practice to be great, we don't practice to be dominant, we practice to practice." So he got a year of practicing to practice? Finally pulls out the chip on the shoulder quote, but you need a qb behind center and Clemson has a Klubnik instead.

Delta Adding Flights to Help Buckeye Fans Come to Autzen
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I thought, most of the time, you just put nuts in a truck and haul them where they are going? It is my understanding most nuts, imagine buckeyes too, are best roasted, which is what I believe we are planning on doing, right? I do want to be clear we won't be eating the buckeyes, they are basically useless, toxic, and not edible. -
Move the Goalpost: Who Changed Your Opinion Most?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Ryan let me step back and say great article and something which is a great ponder point. I also appreciate all you did in writing a nice piece of analysis of the coaches. I then read your take on MariØ and was going to puke, but, again, you made some great points. You actually shared some feelings, something my wife says I am not too good at. You also did it in a way that was relatable, well done. I don't agree with what you wrote, but I can completely understand where you are coming from and have the utmost respect for your opinion, just not mine. I actually think it is great to read some younger peoples perspectives on the Ducks. We all are influenced by our experiences. I suppose that is why I defend Brooks so strongly. I know many have no perspective on what Rich Brooks did and the miracle it was. I also love how Charles brings clarity to Phil Knights impact. Oregon was just fine without the PK money. We just weren't ever going to be elite in football. Elite is what PK wants now and that is what we are seeing. I am enjoying it, but do still love those memories of Reggie Ogburn doing things nobody had ever seen on a football field, and the so many other unique things Brooks brought to us. I now look forward to seeing what has never been done, yet, as the Oregon Football Program. That will make Dan Lanning the greatest mover of the goal posts at Oregon because they will get ripped out of the ground, or do they still do that! -
Move the Goalpost: Who Changed Your Opinion Most?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
There is only one guy who should be number one in modern day Oregon Football, IMHO! He built the ground everyone stood on, whole foundation of coaches support staff the other coaches fed off. He built the soul, the culture of Oregon football with innovating from Reggie Ogburn to any of the other innovative risky moves. He also showed Oregon supported coaches like no other, stayed with a talented coach with a losing record. Rich Brooks is number one and everyone needs to remember that! I am not going to apologize, but I admit I am extremely passionate about this opinion. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Biggest Offseason Ever?
Haywarduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not sure Lanning has an OFF button. Welcome to the Dan Lanning Ducks where it is gametime, all the time. From bowl games, to recruiting, to recruiting transfers, to reloading coaches, to spring game, to recruiting, to fall camp to, it never ends at Autzen Stadium! -
Could This Be a Helicopter Parent Problem?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Helicopter parents aren't as bad as the Lawnmower parents. Hanging around questioning everything is bad, making sure junior never trips up, fails is criminal to a young persons development. Let them fail, figure out how to struggle on their own, within their peer group! -

The Best Recruits Oregon has Ever Landed by Position
Haywarduck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We also let him sit on the bench for the basketball team. We offered the same to JTT, but tosu got him to just play football. The problem with recruiting is the camps. When athletes pay to go to camps, like kickers, and then get evaluated, there is a built in bias to make them out to be more than they are. I also think some qb camps are farces too. Just watching a qb throw without game conditions give a coach nothing other than a toy doll type understanding of an athlete. A qb and all football players need to be evaluated with in game performance, then watched on the sideline, at home and at school. In the end it is the programs who do the homework on athletes, and don't just buy the analysts projected superstars which are going to really excel at recruiting. Great topic, and fascinating to see the lists, and busts, amazing! -
Video Clip of Oregon's Tall Firs...Wow!

Parabolic set shots? Surprised the net didn't catch fire. -
Brilliant, and I would say sending recruiters to American Samoa with some XXXL t-shirts to spread around each year would be a brilliant move too. Per capita American Samoa has more players in the NFL than anywhere on the planet. It does raise the question of why does Nebraska, Wisconsin and other midwest schools recruit so well in Hawaii? We should rule the Islands, and thankfully we brought in Iapani. In the future I look for even stronger recruiting out of the islands, great ponder point! I would add the Oregon program might follow the college basketball, and NBA and look to the African continent. There are areas where the average height is off the charts, and size too. Maybe Oregon leads the way on building a bridge to African talent?

Will This Forever Haunt You as an Oregon Fan?
Haywarduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Plenty of things in my life haven't been fair. I looked at those times as tests, and on quite a few of those I didn't do too well. I also think those challenges made success even sweeter. I went on to win, and so will the Ducks!
